Here we are again, and this time looking forward to the warmer weather , putting away our comfy woolies ( and new season's dresses).

Everyone welcome ..

@Alpacasoft i don’t know to be honest, maybe they don’t realise what the process is? They are the same pictures on both, and I saw the same thing with a shirt the other day, the duplicates are always people with no reviews or other listings etc… so I think something fishy is going on perhaps…

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 19:24

If you look at the listings they are exactly the same pics, but for half the price

neveradullmoment99 · 22/05/2023 19:41

Cash is definitely only give once the item arrives so not sure how that would work. How odd!

faustina · 22/05/2023 19:52

That is very strange. I'm always a bit confused by Vinted though. Quite a few times I've favourited something and asked a question about it, and then it's disappeared along with the person who posted it

Noeggsontoast · 22/05/2023 19:53

@Snowyowl78 there have been a heap of listings like this across the entirety of Vinted across the last month. I don't understand how this could work as a scam though. I have reported some of these and they get taken down pretty quickly.

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 20:04

@Noeggsontoast oh really! I just reported this Duffel coat one too. I’m not sure what the point is of them!

dudsville · 22/05/2023 20:10

Is it to make the cheaper one look like a bargain?

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 22:13

@dudsville i think the cheaper one is fake

dudsville · 23/05/2023 09:07

I'm far too gullible for the Internet.

Noeggsontoast · 23/05/2023 09:27

Apparently one of the scams is the empty box scam. Send a box of nothing then buyer has to prove it contained nothing. That's hard to do so is in favour of seller. The other is sending something by post and getting a receipt but not sending the item and marking it as delivered. Another is that the seller orders you the item from a shopping website using the details you've given and you end up with a bill from the shopping site ie zalandp etc.

Stravaig · 23/05/2023 13:00

Seasalt have added a print version of their Cresting Waves dress.

Those scams are easy to prove though.
Anything sent has a weight so an empty box will register.
As will sending nothing and marking as delivered.
Not sure how the ordering stuff scam works as most second hand sites, Vinted / Ebay , the seller will never see your payment details
I think if it's too good to be true then it usually is !

Noeggsontoast · 23/05/2023 15:35

@Alpacasoft agree. Rogue sellers are usually easy to spot. I also won't spend more than £50 for an item on vinted. It keeps my risk low.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/05/2023 16:44

Finally got to Toast today to return the unravelling socks, unfortunately a bit more complicated than I thought, a refund had to made by customer services on the phone then I had to repurchase in store. At least there were no quibbles about them being faulty.

lordloveadog · 23/05/2023 22:58

Wore my Franca dress today. It felt fabulous. It must have looked pretty damn fabulous too because my pre-teen said 'you look cool and sophisticated', which is not the sort of thing a mother hears every day. At least not this mother, tbf substantially because I don't usually look it.

dudsville · 24/05/2023 07:44

Ahhh, feeling fabulous and getting such a great compliment too, how wonderful @lordloveadog !

I got it very wrong yesterday. I'm struggling with the weather and change of season. I had tights and DMs on with a toast denim skirt. I did also have on the lovely blue check easy blouse, which is super thin, but i was too warm. I even carried around the bracken cardi and toast mac. As i said, i got it very wrong.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/05/2023 07:56

Forgot to say after returning my socks yesterday I treated myself to the Sea Kelp skirt. I did need to buy in the 12, but I rarely buy skirts so I don't know how this compares to previous sizing. The colours are lovely, more green than on the styling video.

I was, however, disappointed with the Chelsea store, quite a small range of stock and nothing else I was interested in was available.

I would like to get to Notting Hill today as I understand this is a bigger store but I doubt I will have time.

I’ve been considering that Franca dress and this story has tipped me over the edge!

@lordloveadog what’s the sizing like?
Is it heavy or suitable for summer?

lordloveadog · 24/05/2023 09:50

Franca is spring/summer, I'd say. Quite flexible because you could wear it with or without tights. That's one reason I like it - it's long enough that I'm happy to be barelegged. The material is good thickish cotton, light enough for a warm day, but because it's a dark colour it wouldn't look strange in worse weather. It's now warm - bordering on hot - where I live, but I had a blue wool wrap scarf for when it got colder in the evening. I really hope Toast keeps this shape and does more dresses in it.

lordloveadog · 24/05/2023 09:55

Should add I'm a pronounced hourglass shape with broad swimmer's shoulders. I don't think this dress would suit a willowy form, though I might be wrong. Basically if the big sleeve dresses make you look like Henry VIII, try this one instead.

I'm at work on my break and just seen the very charming thread on Style and Beauty about a particular Toast loungewear item. I'm on my phone and not sure I can link but this comment was a really stand-out one for me:

"Toast make clothes for old ladies to die in. They cost as much as a coffin too."

Hmmm, has anyone else seen the thread???

Stravaig · 24/05/2023 19:02

This comment is the winner for me 🤣

'My Nan used to wear this to clean her step. You’ll need to accessorise with your rollers and a fag hanging out your mouth though.'

Thread here.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/05/2023 20:09

I tried to direct the op to here to get some more friendly advice

Countmeout · 24/05/2023 20:19

I have the orange version (which was a nightie but very similar) and I think it looks nice. I didn’t venture on to that thread.

I did see it. I’ve given up reporting the ageism on MN. It’s the acceptable -ism. Although I did laugh at the rollers and a fag comment.
