@ilovecherries I wouldn't take any heed. I think that belt would be absolutely stunning with that dress. I love one hundred stars. I have a leather style obi belt myself.

Re vinted if it's been listed a while and if it's that old I would definitely make an offer. One can but ask! I'm never offended by offers, I can choose to accept, negotiate or decline.

ilovecherries · 20/05/2023 18:03

Oh dear. Well, she went for insulted! The words time-waster and chancer may have been used in her reply.

faustina · 20/05/2023 18:52

I'm so sorry that happened cherries! Some toast pieces are WAY overpriced. It's not like they're emeralds or anything. Anyway, her loss. I hope another one turns up with a more realistic price

Gonegrey31 · 20/05/2023 19:05

ilovecherries how rude was the potential seller , I wouldn’t want to buy from someone with that attitude. Don’t give her response a second thought! My dd sells lots of clothes on Depop and nearly always negotiates a lower price . But builds good relationships and when buyers find that items are exactly as described and despatched quickly they become repeat customers.

OftenOrange · 20/05/2023 19:24

@ilovecherries I think your belt and dress outfit sounds wonderful, maybe your friend didn’t mean to sound patronising .
I have a friend who insists on calling some of my outfits hilarious 😆
I always repeat the word with a massive question mark to show that I don’t appreciate it, but she trots it out again a few months later.

AmethystMoonShine · 20/05/2023 19:39

I’d Ignore that Vinted seller @ilovecherries I’ve had a few run-ins when I’ve called sellers out on over pricing. One memorable one was when I was selling a Toast silk scarf and was contacted by two other sellers, both selling the same item but asking nearly double. They were very cross with me 😂 I did notice though that mine sold in a few days and theirs were still unsold months later. Wonder why? 🙄

ilovecherries · 20/05/2023 19:58

Actually, there seems to be a massive amount of toast on eBay and vinted atm which isn’t shifting and the prices seem really high. Once I decide to sell I try to be realistic - even a mistake that’s NWT has still been hanging in my wardrobe for a while, can’t expect full price really. One exception was a hush leopard skirt that two people got into a bidding war for. I’d paid, iirc, £79 for it. It was one of those items influencers all jumped on so it sold out and I ended up selling it for 195. I was 😳

Stoic123 · 20/05/2023 20:29

Yes - some really high prices on items that have been uploaded months ago.

Very little 2nd hand Toast of good value around at the moment.

Snowyowl78 · 21/05/2023 14:42

I got a bleu de chauffe toast bag from Vinted recently for a total bargain, most pleased with it! I did miss out on the colour block cardi though from last season as I hesitated for too long and it was snapped up, so bit miffed about that one.

@ilovecherries i cannnot understand why that seller was so rude! Really weird. People always make offers on Vinted, is completely normal.

She said that no one with any sense of how vinted worked would consider it ok to offer less than a third of the asking price. She had a right old rant! She claimed it was new without tags but with a button missing AND the label cut off. That to me doesn’t mean new, it means worn, at least once. I’m quite suspicious now about new without tags. I’ve had a few thing smelling of perfume or eith make up marks. And OK, I wash them anyway and it’s usually fine but they weren’t new to my mind.

AmethystMoonShine · 21/05/2023 18:58

@ilovecherries I've had a few dodgy new with tags. I think each time it’s been clearly worn and then because Toast tags are on a pin, people just save them and pin them back on to sell. I challenged a particularly bad eBay one and was refunded. It was properly bobbly and very scruffy, smelly 🤢

dudsville · 22/05/2023 07:40

You caught someone on a bad day or someone with misplaced notions about the task @ilovecherries, surely second hand sellers must be like car boot sales where punters make an offer. She got too emotionally embroiled in the moment!

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 09:56

Has anybody ever had a return lost? I have one I posted on 8th May for Inpost and they’ve said I have to wait 10 WD from the courier pick up to class it as lost. 10 WD is tomorrow, just wondered if they are likely to just refund it as a matter of course or if I’ll have some sort of nightmarish time getting it refunded?

AmethystMoonShine · 22/05/2023 10:50

I had that @Snowyowl78 during the last sale. I contacted them on web chat and they said also to wait 10 days, then once that elapsed they asked me to send proof of postage and they refunded no problem at all.

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 10:56

@AmethystMoonShine ah that sounds easy, thanks!

Trinitybean · 22/05/2023 11:06

Hi Snowy, yes I had a return go missing with Royal Mail, the first person I messaged at Toast said I had to wait ten days, but I also contacted Royal Mail and as the tracking hadn't been updated they said they would accept a claim sooner.

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 11:11

Thanks @Trinitybean, my 10 days is up tomorrow so hoping they’ll just refund it tomorrow.

agnesmartin · 22/05/2023 14:03

I haven't posted in ages as I'm trying to rein in spending and I haven't seen much that interests me in Toast recently, but I have just bought this from Seasalt and love it. Others here might too.

It's a similar shape to a cord Toast one I have and there's a weave to the fabric which i think is lovely.

I bought a 16 and am probably 16/18 in high street. Big boobs.

Stoic123 · 22/05/2023 14:57

That's lovely @agnesmartin

I also bought the Seasalt Cresting Waves dress that @neveradullmoment99 recommended. It really is very Toastesque.

Also picked up one of these

Glad you like it😃
They have a few really nice things!

dudsville · 22/05/2023 16:54

I love that kind of top and the toast white one didn't suit me, I'm going to try this @agnesmartin , thanks! I've got a similarly sleeved cotton top from them last year in a pink red and white check that's so wearable.

Stravaig · 22/05/2023 17:02

Not my colours, but I thought this might appeal to some Toasties?
Ramie with cotton lining, from Massimo Dutti.

Toasties:- Spring frocks and socks?
agnesmartin · 22/05/2023 19:06

@Stoic123 I was very tempted by that dress too but I have similar from Toast that is too small for me. Haven't (quite) given up on being able to fit into it one day! Cardie looks very useful.

@dudsville I didn't try the Oxford Easy shirt in white but I imagine this is a lighter material. It has a similar oversize feel (but less extreme I think) and the collar is less open. More casual but still smart enough for most of the events I'm likely to attend. I think it'll get a lot of wear. Glad you loved the other shirt - this bodes well!

Snowyowl78 · 22/05/2023 19:06

Just a heads up, for anybody looking on Vinted - I think there are quite a lot of fake listings appearing at the moment. Eg. This one https://www.vinted.co.uk/women/clothes/coats-and-jackets/jackets/denim-jackets/3051160671-toast-double-faced-indigo-duffle-jacket-new

is a copy of this one:
https://www.vinted.co.uk/women/clothes/coats-and-jackets/jackets/denim-jackets/3047209783-toast-double-faced-indigo-duffle-jacket-new

I think that someone is creating copies of listings and listing them at half price, presumably to make some easy cash!

How would that work @Snowyowl78
I thought the funds are only released when the buyer confirms everything is in order?
