@PomRuns you are not alone here. I don’t wear foundation at all for the same reason and I just embrace my imperfections 😉

bet you look perfect !
I quite like bare minerals as too can add a bit more if you want a more polished look.

PomRuns · 31/03/2023 14:15

@extrasushiplease fabulous - I will try on my summer hols. Thank you.

I hate the feeling of things on my face (weird I know !), I wear bare minerals powder because I don’t like how foundation feels.

I just use a serum primer as my face feels claggy now if I put foundation on. I use this one www.sephora.co.uk/p/PAUL-and-JOE-Protecting-Foundation-Primer-30ml. Feels just like extra moisturiser.

FiveShelties · 01/04/2023 05:28

Just been away for a week and used up 6 items, sachets and small tubes of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Nothing of note but an easy 6 to remove from the stash. I did buy one thing, Elnett Hair Spray 400ml which is about five times larger than all the things used up.

24/96 so 25% of the way to target and 25% of the year gone.

CamoFlamingo · 01/04/2023 10:21

Two empties here and not positive reviews unfortunately.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth bouncy sleeping mask - I absolutely hated this. Hated the weird jelly consistency and it was sticky and made my skin feel tight. I thought I'd love it as I adore the day cream from this range.

The Body Shop carrot cream - This made me break out so bad and I rarely get spots. Ended up using it as foot cream.

MidnightMeltdown · 01/04/2023 11:30

I'm pleased to report that I made it through March without buying any beauty boxes! I did spend £100 on makeup though....

So far my spending looks like this:

Jan - £285 (purchased two beauty calendars in the January sales)
Feb - £0
March - £100 (makeup)

I feel like I've been good, but it's still almost £400 in 3 months! It eye opening to see what you're spending once you start consciously keeping track

Wow @Fraaahnces! Thanks for the share.

Thanks @Experiment627! 😊

PomRuns · 01/04/2023 17:36

@MidnightMeltdown it really adds up - last year I spend around £1000...

I haven't had a splurge yet this year although I don't count the odd cleanser/shower gel - just the big purchases.

Ah thank you for this tip.

@PomRuns
Thanks for your nice comment.

I really love the support and kindness of the people in this thread! Makes me fell hopeful for humanity.

I have been hitting my samples stash too for quick wins, as I sometimes feel that I am not going anywhere with big bottles. It helps me to keep the momentum going.

I will update tomorrow as I have a splitting migraine that has made me really grumpy today.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 01/04/2023 20:40

*FEEL for goodness sake…

Babysharkdoodoodood · 01/04/2023 21:00

I'm off on holiday next month so need to go through my sample stash. See if I have enough for 7days worth of skincare.

Just bought one of each shade in the Revolution toners for brunettes as they're reduced in Boots. I love these. Just enough tint to cover grey and give my hair some ooomph. Currently pink!

Buster27 · 01/04/2023 23:19

Cultured Biomecare cleansing balm - I usually use a cream cleanser, so I was unsure about this, but I really liked it! Think I'll try some others once I use up my stash.

Cien Hydro Boost pomegranate extract tissue mask - picked this up in Lidl after enjoying the Garnier version. This was fine, but the Garnier one was much nicer for me. Would use this again though, cheap and cheerful.

I barely drink these days and caught up last night with one of my friends who is a terrible influence. Feeling very dodgy today. Have been horizontal for most of it. Also managed to totally upset my skin barrier either by being overly-enthusiastic when removing makeup, when applying tretinoin or as a reaction to the (godawful, cheap) sparkling wine. Possibly all three. Am dosed up with antihistamines and have applied steroid cream and lots of ceramides to face today. Feeling very sorry for myself.

Mummacake · 02/04/2023 10:02

I've succumbed to the elemis offer on QVC. I don't watch it but saw an email from elemis and thought I'd look. Bad move!! 😏

Experiment627 · 02/04/2023 10:36

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel 💜
Feel better soon xxx

Oooo @Babysharkdoodoodood I have not tried the toners

Sending you a big hug @Fraaahnces... I am finding it harder and harder to handle alcohol and I was never very good.

The April Fools from Superdrug was hilarious yesterday 🤣

PomRuns · 02/04/2023 11:28

I've stopped drinking Proessco for that reason - hope you feel better soon @Fraaahnces

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel hope your migraine has gone.

I'm on a roll but probably won't have any empties for a while now.

L'occitane Almond scrub. It was difficult to use then I poured a small bottle of almost shower oil in (perhaps was supposed to??). It was ok but too much of a faff and too expensive what it is.
Superfacialist cleaning oil. I love this, I think has made a huge difference to my skin. I follow with a balm or cream cleanser. Already purchased another. It's £8 ish and last about 4-5 months. Highly recommend.
Bum Bum cream I know it's marmite on here but I like it.
Emma Hardie Cleansing balm. Its good but I prefer Elemis.
Larry King Shampoo. Another like, not sure if a rp or not.

2 perfume samples:
dior J'adore. It's very sweet, I felt a bit of an ageing fragrance (even though I am late 40s!)
Hermes Eau de basilic pourpre - fresh and sharp, quite liked it but not enough to purchase.

25/80
9 samples.

15 & 16

Nivea eye make up remover.

It works, is gentle but effective. I would rebuy but I have an Aurelia one from an advent to use.

Sam McKnight hair treatment mask 50ml/£22

This is great on my hair, ultra conditioning but doesn't weight fine hair down. I won't repurchase as I have a few different treatments to use. Think this came in an advent.

CherryMargo · 02/04/2023 23:00

Hooray for the thread #16! 🎉

My March empties were three tiny makeup products:

  1. Kat von D Tattoo Liner Trooper (0.2 ml) – matt finish. Brush tip. It comes in only two shades (satin black and rich chocolate brown). I got it as a gift during a Kat von D launch event in London back in… 2016 👀 It is an intensely pigmented, long-lasting, high-precision liner, and it wouldn’t dry out for YEARS, as long you store it upside down and clean the tip on a regular basis. You can get a very fine line/wing with it, as the tip is flexible.

  2. Yves Rocher Liquid Balm no. 12068 (2.5 ml; GWP) – it expired in July 2022. It is a semi-transparent non-sticky lip gloss with a lovely strawberry scent. Nice for fresh and minimal summer makeup, and it’s called a balm for a reason – it does moisturise dry lips very well. Like most lip glosses it contains octyldodecanol (a silicone alternative), which does help to retain moisture but allegedly can cause skin irritation even in low doses.

  3. A re-pressed blusher in a square metal pan (maybe it was SUQQU Melting Powder Blush in 04 Sumiiro… I’ve had it for so long, I don’t remember anymore!) – it was 0.9 g when I dug it out from my stash, and it still took me several years to finish it. The shade was light brown with gold shimmer, really good for late summer and early autumn.

MidnightMeltdown · 02/04/2023 23:10

@PomRuns

I'm using that Superfacialist cleansing oil at the moment too! I picked it up on a whim while doing a supermarket shop as I thought that it looked nice, even though I usually prefer a balm. I'm liking too. Really nice product and great value.

If I manage to keep my spend under £1000 this year then I'll be happy. I dread to think how much I spent last year but it was definitely more than that, so I need to careful and monitor this year. I have stacks of stuff to get though so I really shouldn't need much at all.

Well done for not splurging yet this year!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 02/04/2023 23:33

Fraaahnces · 31/03/2023 00:06

I have been using the Some By Mi retinol eye cream. I have had no irritation or dryness and have noticed a fairly significant reduction in the fine lines around my eyes and the deeper line running down the middle of my forehead. (I call it my butthead.) I’m 50, so don’t expect miracles for sagging, but have found something that is helping a wee bit there too. I have been experimenting with those Korean eyelid tapes, and I have found that the more I use them, the less saggy my eyelids are!!! Might just sleep in them. It’s not been long, but they’re bloody fabulous!

I got some of that retinol this week from Amazon. It was on a deal, so £13. I'm just going to use it twice a week, but just on one eye so I can see if it works, and also if there's irritation then at least I'll have one ok eye 😂

Fraaahnces · 03/04/2023 00:38

Smart! I haven’t had any, although I have been biking my skin with tretinoin for years.

Experiment627 · 03/04/2023 07:14

great plan @Babysharkdoodoodood - just remember which eye!

Wow! @CherryMargo is it really thread 16!

I have some empties to report:

  • Sukin Super Greens detoxifying facial scrub: this is a scrub with bits in it (jojoba beads) which I am not really a fan of - I much prefer using AHAs or BHAs - but it did the job. This is from the H&B advent.
  • M&S Autograph luminosity radiant skin primer: this came from an advent quite a few years ago and I have had open for ages so I am really pleased to use this up (15 mls). I am not a massive fan, I have switched to the Elf niacinamide one (a freebie at the Superdrug Presents thing) and I am already way preferring that.
  • Plantur 39 phtyo-caffeine tonic: as this added to my oily roots situation, I only used this in the morning before washing my hair. Definitely using the shampoo and conditioner made a difference to my hair loss but I think I used this too sporadically on its own for it to really make a difference. Smells sort of of apples. I am not keen on shoving caffeine on my hair or skin...

I keep getting urge to splurge but have set intention to shop my stash for holiday coming up as my stash is getting out of hand again.
