We didn’t get to stay in when I first joined maireas.

Times changed later but the other women I knew who got pregnant chose to leave.

I chose to stay in but as you know, things didn’t go as expected. I still squeezed in my uniform (open zip and strategic jumper) though so I’m not sure.

Maireas · 13/03/2023 17:22

Of course, Shelley, I should have realised.
Thank you 💗

That's amazing @Myaiminlife - how exciting. 😀

(I'm sure his military leaders won't mind if he adds a little embellishment to his uniform so that we can spot him in the parade - a tiara shaped badge or maybe just an additional jaunty feather on his headgear?)

Maireas · 13/03/2023 17:34

I rather like Anne's coat. Is it....new??

I agree, @ChicoryDip - we need to know who to look out for!

He will be the incredibly handsome and dashing one in RAF blues.

Maireas · 13/03/2023 17:41

@WontTheRealSlimSheldyPlsFuckoff 😂😂 too true!
Women like Jamie Lee Curtis show that it's ok to be an older woman, and you don't need to be stretched and filled to within an inch of your life to look good.
Sadly, a couple of the royal women are going down that route a bit.

Well we can definitely discuss Jamie Lee Curtis on this thread as she is practically royal enough for it - Baroness Haden Guest or Lady Haden Guest.

Can we fix you up with a matching necklace and earrings? Possibly a stomacher?
It is a special occasion!

Ah that's so nice of you @Maireas

Delighted for you @Myaiminlife

😍 lucky lady!

He's a reservist rather than full time so he's not in uniform that much and when he is it's usually camo jimjams. It's always nice to see him in blues but I usually only get to see it a couple of times a year.

Maireas · 13/03/2023 17:48

Yes, @CliffsofMohair , we were wondering upthread if she would attend the coronation as a peeress. I've definitely seen her at an event in a tiara.

I will have to work out which sort of bling will go best with my dressing gown - it's grey so rubies would probably 'pop' nicely!

SqueakyDinosaur · 13/03/2023 17:56

I read somewhere that only 25 peers and 25 MPs will be invited to the Coronation - imagine the rows that will cause!

For QEII they managed to squeeze more than 8,000 people into the Abbey by building extra stands, rather like in a theatre. Which is pretty amazing as it normally "only" seats 2,200.

AdaColeman · 13/03/2023 18:07

@Myaiminlife he needs to add a Mumsnet scarf to his uniform on the day! Wink Wink
What a fantastic family memory you will all have, how wonderful for you!

He was supposed to be involved in the DofE funeral -but as the arrangement were scaled right back for that he missed out. His squadron weren't used at all for HMQ's funeral so he sees this as a third time lucky.

I rather liked the way she wore a broach in the centre too.

Ahh @Maireas how could you doubt our Anne!

She's worn it many times before.

I like the extra detail of the brooch.

Maireas · 13/03/2023 18:53

@SqueakyDinosaur - Boucheron Wave tiara ✔️

Anyone with better eyes was Kate wearing a Fleur de lys brooch?

Maireas · 13/03/2023 19:09

Prince of Wales feathers!

I still think Charles when I hear that 🤣

LadyEloise1 · 13/03/2023 19:27

Just watched the News on RTE ( Irish state tv ) and they featured a shamrock "farm", apparently the only one in Ireland. Kate was mentioned and pictured wearing shamrock from said "farm" on her de rigeur green coat.
The company supply the Irish Guards.

Completely agree with the comments on the Oscars - I am definitely getting old - see-through and netty with all your bits sticking out doesn't do it for me.

I loved Cara Delevingne's dress although I would have felt obliged to sew the split up a bit.

Love this dress!

SenecaFallsRedux · 13/03/2023 19:45

I like Anne's coat and brooch. To me, they both have a Charles Rennie Mackintosh-Art Nouveau vibe.

justasking111 · 13/03/2023 19:46

My granny sent us all a tiny box with a sod of shamrock in it every March. Tried to get it to grow with no success.
