I thought all his kids from his first marriage still lived there? But I guess it's not unusual that the son who actually lives on the estate is the one with the love for it. If it was 150 years ago then we'd have the makings of a novel!

Fergie's riding style outfit made me think of a series I watched recently called The Empress about a Hapsburg Empress called Elisabetta as a lot of the characters wore quite severe, stylised crinolines and riding jackets.

Oh yes, I watched that too. Love a bit of Sisi, the Diana of the 19th century!

I hadn't heard of her before watching the series. I've got a stack of books I need to read before I get any more, but finding out more about her and the Hapsburgs is on my to-read bucket list.

Sisi was a fascinating though ultimately very unhappy woman.

Let me know what your book recommendations are about the Hapsburgs, @latedecember1963 , I'm looking for something interesting to read.

Has anyone else watched Corsage, about Empress Elisabeth? (Fully expect almost everyone here has!) Loved it especially the staged fainting, peel-off whiskers and some semi-derelict Slovakian schloss standing in for Althorp. BF and I were nudging each other, giggling and whispering "Ah, Norse Ham Ton Sheer". We are 56. Luckily the cinema was almost empty.

Not yet @SqueakyDinosaur but I'm considering getting the 7-day free trial to Mubi to watch it.

It's great, in a slightly mad way, and Vicky Krieps is always worth watching...
