Thanks for those pictures, @MmePoppySeedDefage , Iman looks beautiful, and the dress is gorgeous. The veil and tiara are just right, not over the top, and as pp have said, the fit is good (although I agree with Shelley about the sleeves )
I like Rania's dress as well, which manages to combine pleats and other detail without being fussy. Lovely colour.

Beautiful tiara on Iman. I wonder if the wedding celebrations have finished now.

paradyning · 15/03/2023 09:18

I do prefer Meghan's stress as well. I was just commenting on the fit and the tailoring. Although you can see that they're completely different materials which I guess react in different ways to movement and to cut, but what do I know!

CanOfPop · 15/03/2023 09:39

I think as well some choose the most flattering shot of Iman and the most unflattering shot of Meghan. There are photos of Iman's dress with creases because that is what happens to fabric when you move.

Maireas · 15/03/2023 09:43

I haven't seen an unflattering shot of Meghan on here, @CanOfPop . As I recall, the general consensus was/is that she looked beautiful and we loved the dress, veil and tiara. Some people think that the fit of the dress could have been better. Which is a reasonable point.

OP posts:
CanOfPop · 15/03/2023 09:47

Good if it hasn't happened on this thread.

TangledUpInTiaras · 15/03/2023 09:49

Laughing at aggro about 'criticising Meghan'. Haterz vs. Fangirls is such a silly and very tedious way to approach this - it doesn't have to be that way!

(As @Maireas said, read right back through all the many, many Royal S&B threads and you'll see there's really no justification for that assertion - it's always been very egalitarian here - we criticise clothing/style/fit/etc across the board as we see fit*, regardless of who's wearing it, as that's what the discussion is about!)

Yes, if it's between the two dresses I'd definitely pick Meghan's too. Lovely dress and she looked gorgeous on the day. However fit has often been an issue for her <insert my customary caveat here> although I didn't think her wedding dress was too bad. Very different fabric and construction is my guess on the 'flowing like cream' (such a fabulous description) thing.

Yesterday turned out to be rather busy so didn't hang out at all! Wishing you all well, I'm really leaving now! 🌸🏵🌷

@JPduck I've PM'd you.

@Maireas thanks for the last tiara you gave me! I forgot to say, I claimed all the Danish Crown Jewels on the other thread (Went a little mad with power😁😉), could they be added to my collection please? Ta!❤

*Pardon the pun!

Maireas · 15/03/2023 09:51

No. It has not happened on this thread, @CanOfPop .
So please don't suggest that there's that kind of unpleasantness on here, because there isn't. We would all give such notions short shrift.
You did imply attitudes on here that do not exist.

MotherofPearl · 15/03/2023 09:52

As @Maireas says, on this thread we are pretty strict at keeping the focus on the clothes not the women, and posters know that straying into unkind personal comments will be very quickly policed on here. Those were the founding principles of the thread when it was first set up years ago by @Queenoftheandals, and I think we have stuck to those pretty closely.

Maireas · 15/03/2023 09:55

Absolutely, @MotherofPearl .
So there's really no need for anyone to come onto these threads and tell us not to do something that we never do.

Not on this thread pop

We all have different opinions on colour and styles. Which is how it should be. It makes for an enlightening and informative read. Especially for folk like me who just aren’t stylish. But we know what we like when we see it.

if we were all the same, we’d all be in Markies scrapping over the exact same shift dress. Riots everywhere.

I love that we all see something different. It is as it should be.

Maireas · 15/03/2023 09:57

Laughing at the Markies riot! 😂😂

Ffion hagues dress was beautiful. I am really old and had a day off school for Princess Annes wedding. She had a 23 inch waist according to whatever magazine i read way back then. She probably still has. She is very trim.
I liked Meghan in the brightly coloured dresses and the photo of her with Harry under the umbrella was great. But I agree that some clothes don't fit her well. Just as a lot of my clothes dont fit me well.

KillingMeDeftly · 15/03/2023 10:29

I read that as Markles riot 🤣

@eggandonion I remember getting the day off school for Anne's wedding. It was November, there were power cuts, strikes and shortages in the shops. It was like a beacon of colour in a grey world.

I think Camilla's wedding outfit has been the best of all the Royals. Obviously the outfit was made for an older woman, but it was very stylish and very flattering. I think Camilla either has an excellent dresser or has a very good eye herself.

CanOfPop · 15/03/2023 10:35

I do not think Kate has a good eye. The Erdem suit she wore to the Commonwealth day was fine, but the hat she paired it with was a different colour blue and it does not work. Pairing accessories is a real skill and I think Kate needs better help with that.

Maireas · 15/03/2023 10:36

I agree, @CanOfPop and I think Valentine Robinson served her well on that day. It's about knowing what cuts, fabrics and colours suit, but her fit is usually very good as well.

OP posts:
CanOfPop · 15/03/2023 10:40

Yes true about a good fit, Camilla's outfit was a bit more boring at the Commonwealth day, just a blue coat, but it was a nice cut and fitted well and paired with a nice brooch. Although unusually for her I do not think the hat was a good choice.
But generally I think she is the best dressed of all the Royals.
I don't think Charles dresses that great. His trousers are always just a bit too long - obviously his personal preference as I can't imagine a tailor would choose that length themselves.

SqueakyDinosaur · 15/03/2023 11:15

Traditionally, men's trousers are supposed to just "break" on their shoes slightly when they're standing - I think Charles' do that.

I was musing on Kate's peplumed outfit - I think the reason it maybe looked a bit off to some of us is that she is naturally quite long-waisted and so it wasn't actually sitting on her natural waist. I liked it - it was the accessories that let it down somewhat.

eggandonion · 15/03/2023 11:15

Maybe Charles likes to hide his novelty socks. Unlike our Irish taioseach who loves us all to admire his fun socks!
Camilla has developed a style of her own. Angela Kelly must be desperate to advise Kate which might or might not be a good thing. I quite liked the peplum suit. But the hat was wrong.

justasking111 · 15/03/2023 12:08

I'm short-waisted with big boobs thanks to granny. So was the queen. Her designers clocked that and dressed her accordingly. Kate is long waisted, long legged. She looks better in separates. None of us are perfect we just need to learn how to wear what suits us. Diana also had it down pat.

CanOfPop · 15/03/2023 12:23

This is what I mean by Charles. His trousers just a bit too long and his jacket just a bit too large.
But he obviously likes this fit.
Edward tends to have the best fitting suits of all the men.

CanOfPop · 15/03/2023 12:25

@SqueakyDinosaur I liked the dress too. But I don't think it is the most flattering style for Kate.
