This could be outing... but where I come from, the local (and incredible) pipe band March into the church on St P's Day and Hail Glorious is always on their playlist ☘️It is quite something to behold!!!

Thanks @ChicoryDip; I love a montage.

My least favourite of those is the grey with the lace overlay. It's pretty awful. I like the red with the velvet trim. I like today's outfit less now that I've properly seen the peplum. Peplums = unnecessary fuss and frill.

KillingMeDeftly · 13/03/2023 23:02

The grey lace looks like she's been attacked by mould!

ChicoryDip · 13/03/2023 23:03

I think the grey lace may also have been an Erdem.

I used to love St Patrick's Day as a child. We were all given shamrock at school and sang Hail Glorious St Patrick, which is one of my favourite hymns. Very rousing. Plus we all got a KitKat at break.

I love that hymn. I remember singing it for ages before St. Patrick's Day. As soon as I read your comment, I could hear it in my head.

AdaColeman · 13/03/2023 23:22

I like Anne's green outfit, which is an old favourite of hers, she often pairs that coat with the lighter green fedora. I like the coat's asymmetric collar emphasised with the large gold brooch. The brooch reminds me of the famous CRM Glasgow Rose design, so stylish and elegant.

Myaiminlife · 14/03/2023 09:26

I like the coat's asymmetric collar

In my favourite photo of my grandmother as a young lady she is wearing a coat with a similar collar it looks so stylish and has alway given me coat envy.

TangledUpInTiaras · 14/03/2023 10:18

Yes, love Anne's outfit. Best one of the day for me, by far.

She does style very well when she wants to.

In other news, the matter is concluded...and I can no longer stay on MN. So, although I know it's not an airport and I don't have to announce my departure, I'm going to! It's been many years and a lot of great discussion - happy times, sad times, angry times, contented times, and it deserves a proper goodbye!

You lot have been great company and I've thoroughly enjoyed these threads.💐

(Also anyone who's interested please pop over and see us at the other place once in a while! There are quite a few people here who know where it is and can point the way.)

Maireas · 14/03/2023 16:33

We'll miss you on here, @TangledUpInTiaras .
Take care! 👋

Just to go back to the wedding, I've been mulling over the dress this evening and thought this pic in particular shows off just how well made it is, the seams are almost invisible. Like Meghan's should have been but better fitting. It's such a beautiful dress, it hangs perfectly. I love it.

Yea agree. This is what I said earlier.
The dress is beautiful in motion. Like pouring cream. And like Megs' should have been I suspect.

gluenotsoup · 14/03/2023 22:25

@frugalkitty and @paradyning , I couldn’t agree more. It’s gorgeous isn’t it? Just the right cut and fabric for the style, it’s exactly how Meghans should have looked. Stunning. 😍😍

CanOfPop · 14/03/2023 23:10

You can't help yourself can you?
Meghan left the Royal Family nearly 4 years ago. She was not at this event. And still you have to criticise her.

justasking111 · 14/03/2023 23:22

I drove the dress shop mad dropping weight. Between first fitting and wedding we bought a doer upper so every evening and weekend we were ripping up floors for rentokil, relaying them, stripping wallpaper, sanding, painting, gardening. Only went home to grab a bite and sleep. The dress shop was in Liverpool so getting there from Wales was a faff on the train. They altered it three times. Was still loose on the day. I was physically super fit though 😂😂

WontTheRealSlimSheldyPlsFuckoff · 14/03/2023 23:24

I thought Meghan looked beautiful on her wedding day.

So does this bride. The way the dress hangs is sublime. To me, the sleeves are a wee bit nippit but she still looks lovely.

I know nowt about couture. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be looking out for. 🤷🏻‍♀️

WontTheRealSlimSheldyPlsFuckoff · 14/03/2023 23:29

I never got a wedding dress.

I covet Ffion Hague’s frock still. I’d probably have to lose 7 stone and wear 8 pairs of control drawers. But I loved that frock.

@CanOfPop - I'm not sure who you're addressing - maybe@gluenotsoup ?
There is no criticism of Meghan, or anyone else on these threads. We're discussing style. If someone thinks Meghan's dress didn't fit well, it's an opinion of the dress, not the woman. There were differing opinions on Kate's outfit above. Similarly with other outfits. Often we comment Meghan's style. You can trawl through all these threads and you'll find no criticism of Meghan. Or anyone else.

I've just had a look at Ffion Hague's wedding dress, @WontTheRealSlimSheldyPlsFuckoff
You're absolutely right, it's beautiful. That's 1997, so ahead of the game with the cape. It's a very elegant dress and Ffion looks stunning. Thanks for that style note!

I remember loving that one too

I've just seen this set of photos of the Jordanian wedding, in which you can see the beauty of her dress close up:

www.thecourtjeweller.com/2023/03/princess-iman-of-jordans-sparkling-modern-royal-wedding-tiara.html#more-45687

MotherofPearl · 15/03/2023 08:10

I don't especially like the Jordanian wedding dress (especially the lacy high neck) but I love @paradyning's description of it as moving like "pouring cream." I can see it's beautifully made, but I am not really keen on the style. If we're comparing this with Meghan's dress, that wins for me - especially the gorgeous boatneck.

iknowimcoming · 15/03/2023 08:14

I rarely post on here but had to drop in to agree about that wedding dress, it's perfection on her! The veil, tiara, her hair - everything! Did anyone find a pic of her shoes?
