I got engaged when I was 17, many moons ago. I’m not so keen on the style anymore so tend to wear this Pandora 2 piece these days. I’m considering having the stones from my engagement ring reset into something else but not sure what.

I can’t believe how many of you keep your nails so well manicured. They look so lovely.

Partner has just ordered mine. I picked it myself as what's the point in getting one I don't like. I'm worrying now though - I selected a 9ct white gold ring as it just looks really nice. I had now read that perhaps it's not quite as long lasting as an 18ct and perhaps tarnishes??

Anyone have a 9 that still looks amazing years later?

@ramanw I'm sure that will be absolutely beautiful! And don't worry about the material.

While gold won't tarnish as such, it will however loose its rhodium plating over time (turns a champagne type colour) you can have it re-plated though and doesn't cost too much money..

My original engagement ring was 9ct white gold, I wore it daily without fail for 3 years and it was only JUST starting to turn champagne toned on the underside of the ring, where my hand was in contact with different things and therefore rubbing. Also, my biggest word of advice would be to avoid hand sanitiser whilst wearing your white gold. It does wear away at the rhodium plating over time.

I've now gone for platinum, but never ever had an issue with my original white-gold ring!! It was just too delicate to down-size which I was gutted about!!!

Mine is about as simple as they come as I’ve never been a big jewellery person. Was pretty vocal about what I wanted, partner originally was thinking a big sapphire that wouldn’t have suited me. Still talked him down a bit on the carat size, this already looks big on me! I think it’s 1.7 carats?

Although does look like it needs a bit of a clean. Literally rub it with a cloth and it shines.
I should say I do lots of diy with Louis of nasty chemicals and all sorts and really bad at wearing glove protection. So mine have been through a lot.

Eternity ring and another ring I bought myself when I turned 45. My engagement ring is being repaired- ruby and diamonds.

OP there are different qualities of white gold and the colour they are once the rhodium plating wears off, will depend on the mix. I have two whole gold rings, one definitely needs replating but the other is now just a nice silvery colour and doesn't need it. So it just depends really.

Even with the one which needs replating it is only visible on the underside. The setting hasn't worn at all

Yours is my favourite ring from the whole the thread. I love sapphires. DH just got a me a second hand white gold Tiffany ring with two tiny baguette sapphires in it for my upcoming 50th birthday. I love the colour of them.

This was my engagement ring from my exhusband . I got it after 15yrs of marriage and loved it. Was sad to get rid of it when we divorced but it wasn’t a happy marriage at all :(

In which case I’d be tempted to get the stones reset. The cut on the tanzanite is beautiful.
