My Great British Beauty Kit arrived today. Very, very pleased with it. Fantastic value for £75. I love the wash bag, with its London landmark print. Not much surprise that it appears to have sold out already.

I received mine too. I'm really pleased with the contents but less keen on the bag itself. I like the shape but I wish the print was in a different colour as I think it just looks dirty and old fashioned. If they'd used other colours, it could have looked much more modern.

Porkandbeans1 · 29/04/2023 18:03

I love that bag @AprilLady I didn't go for it as I wouldn't get the use out of the products but would love that bag!

MavisMcMinty · 29/04/2023 19:08

Liberty deliver so quickly, very impressive.

CinnamonCoffee · 29/04/2023 19:44

I love the bag too! It's different to the usual liberty bags which seem to be darker. Mines come today also!
Only thing I won't use is the Larry king

HundredMilesAnHour · 29/04/2023 19:57

I'm a huge Haeckels fan (I got addicted in their very early days and continue to love both their products and their ethos) so keen to hear what you all think of their hand cream in your bags? I used to love it when it was in a tube but I'm not sold on the newer packaging in a pot but maybe I'm just a picky madame (given that I didn't like the Liberty washbag either 😝)

MavisMcMinty · 30/04/2023 07:40

I never use hand creams, irritates me how many I get in advent calendars and beauty boxes. I have a whole trunkful of unopened ones!

SweetSakura · 30/04/2023 07:42

Ahh see I have an autoimmune condition that gives me really dry skin so I can't have enough hand creams! Especially really decent ones

MavisMcMinty · 30/04/2023 07:54

Everything I put on my face also goes on my neck, dec, and hands/cuticles - that’s why I don’t use or need hand creams (and probably why I rattle through so much skincare).

I haven't used anything from Haeckels before but the hand cream is the stand out from the kit for me so far! I can't stop putting it on Grin It sinks in well, feels really moisturising and I love the smell. I find the pot very tactile actually! Is there anything else you would recommend from the brand?

This is really good to hear @Orangeslemon . I'm glad I'm not imagining it,

I really like their Marine Facial Cleanser (it's a facial wash) which I've been using consistently for the last 6+ years. It's been the only facial wash that has swayed me away from Demalogica (which I used to always end up going back to for years and years until I tried the Haeckels one). I also consistently use their Exfoliating Seawood Block as my shower soap. It's one of their very first products and a bestseller.

Apologies if I am Haeckels bore. They're a very unusual company, with impeccable eco credentials and doing so much for their local community - they still handmake all their products at their Margate base (I used to live nearby and was visiting when I saw their premises and thought 'ooh that looks interesting' so that's how it started for me). They opened a second shop in east London (near where I live now - they clearly know their market lol) and each Christmas us locals can drop off our dead Christmas trees with them and they make them into candles (which for a small charge you can then buy). They restored an old fashioned Victorian bathing hut as a sauna and this is now open to the community (you just book online) on a beach near Margate. They're very innovative. They give you a discount if you do some beach cleaning. I could go on and on but I won't. They're probably quite 'hipster' and would have been a big name by now if they were willing to compromise their principles - for example, one of the big airlines wanted to use their products in their Business and First class amenity kits and Haeckels said no as they felt it might compromise their integrity.

If you're interested in trying any of their other products, I have a code which gets 'friends and family' 15% off your first order online (only online and it only works once): w7z7p9m0jm2ww (I joined their new monthly subscription scheme - now sold out with a waiting list - and a surprise benefit was being sent this discount code to share).

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/04/2023 18:17

Sorry, I forgot to mention that their hand cream pot is completely compostable. Literally just put it in your compost heap. They changed much of their packaging recently to move from recyclable to compostable. See what I mean...great company!

Neekoh · 01/05/2023 11:49

Hi, just popping in to ask a question, hope that's okay...

Does anyone know, if I sign up for the Beauty Box now will they send me April's box or will I have to wait for the next one?

Thanks. 🌹

listsandbudgets · 01/05/2023 12:08

I got the January one when I signed up in March and it was swiftly followed by April one so I think that you should get it Arpil one now as long as they have stock

Neekoh · 01/05/2023 12:11

Ta very much @listsandbudgets !

LoveLabradors · 01/05/2023 12:13

@HundredMilesAnHour like the sound of them. Especially the hand balm - always on the hunt for the elusive perfect hand cream.
Anyone else going for the GWP this week? I’m torn. It looks like quite a good one and would like to try the candle. However when it comes to Liberty beauty GWPs the fact is there is very little I actually want to buy from the beauty dept. I tend to use credit for a good beauty kit or homeware or jewellery. Liberty don’t seem to have that much compared to Space NK. For instance the haeckels hand balm that came in the British beauty kit isn’t actually available to buy. I’ve noticed this with several items in the beauty drop, GWPs and kits. It’s a bit annoying. So it does seem silly to try and find things I don’t really want or need to get a free gift!

Neekoh · 01/05/2023 12:16

Hmm looks like I missed my chance - it's no longer allowing me to sign up (must have been triggered by a big order I put in), just saying I can 'register my interest'...

In case it allows me later, would you say this month's box is worth it?

Thanks again!

PomRuns · 01/05/2023 12:32

@LoveLabradors i think I’m going to get it - it’s a good mix of products. I might get a perfume, a neom oil and that’s probably £175

@Neekoh yes I thought the box was good, nice mix of things to try.

Neekoh · 01/05/2023 12:38

Thanks @PomRuns! I treated myself to some Chantecaille so I guess even if I don't get the box this time around I'll have something new to play with/admire!

supadupapupascupa · 01/05/2023 14:10

Anyone know the date for the gwp? I don't want to miss it!!

PomRuns · 01/05/2023 14:26

@supadupapupascupa 4th May.

I’ve talked myself into it …

supadupapupascupa · 01/05/2023 16:28

I've got my wish list updated Blush ready to push the button

MavisMcMinty · 01/05/2023 17:30

Oh that’s a good idea, @supadupapupascupa .

Still gonna resist, there’ll be another along when I don’t have a £1700 electricity bill to pay, and more credit in my Liberty account (which I want to use for the advent calendar, I think).

redredwineub40 · 01/05/2023 18:26

Yeah I’m passing it by - need to make sure I either have the option of the advent calendar or sales and space summer GWP looms!

MotherofTerriers · 01/05/2023 19:07

I get regular emails from Liberty but didn't get the great british beauty kit one and its out of stock now
Might go for the GWP, it looks reasonably interesting
