Thin brows are back! Oh no!

What do you think about the idea that eyebrows are trending back towards thin "noughties"/2000's brows?

I'm not a fan of the really really fat scouse brows, but I have liked the trend for fuller brows as I think they are more flattering. When I look at photos of myself from the 2000's with those thin brows I cringe a bit and think they looked awful (think Britney or Pamela Anderson brows). However that's where it's headed again apparently! Makes sense that brows are moving to match the clothes fashion I guess, but this is the first time I've felt truly old (43) as I really don't want to follow the fashion as I know how unflattering those eyebrows were the first time round!

Then don’t. Just style your eyebrows in a way that flatters you.

doadeer · 27/02/2023 13:40

I would never alter my eyebrows to be honest, I wouldn't ever risk something permenant for "fashion" eg plucking them so thin they don't grow back.

Happy to experiment with different jeans, lip colours etc - but nothing that can't be reversed is my thinking.

InstagramBitchWife · 27/02/2023 13:42

Fuck trends.

Just have your eyebrows how you want.

Tescoland · 27/02/2023 13:43

Why are you panicking about something trivial like this? Why hyperventilate over thin eyebrows? If you don’t like them then don’t have them.

bellac11 · 27/02/2023 13:44

I dont think Ive ever 'styled' my eyebrows, they are just there on the top of my eyes.

BusySittingDown · 27/02/2023 13:46

I didn't like them back then. So I didn't.

I remember my friend laughing at me and telling me I needed to pluck my eyebrows. I rolled my eyes.

Now she spends a fortune on micro blading, I don't as I never over-plucked them as a teen. Now who's smug 😏?

BusySittingDown · 27/02/2023 13:47

Moral of the story - leave your eyebrows be!

shockerrr · 27/02/2023 13:48

@Tescoland who said I was hyperventilating? It's a lighthearted thread about style and beauty. If you're not interested in style and beauty then maybe scroll past?

Thin eyebrows were fashionable in the 1930s, 1970s, 1990s, so yeah, it's probably their time again. I'll be skipping the trend this time round though.

Brows are such a massive industry in themselves these days though, and thinner brows becoming the dominant look would limit the number of brow products and procedures, so we'll see if it actually happens. Vogue had a thin browed Rihanna on the cover back in 2018 and people said then that skinny brows were on their way back in.

cocksstrideintheevening · 27/02/2023 13:52

Mine took so bloody long to grow back it's not something I'll be embracing this time around.

ThepicofmyhairymingeprovesIamsober · 27/02/2023 13:58

At 43 you should be old enough to know what suits you and what doesn’t and mature enough not to blindly follow every trend.

MichelleScarn · 27/02/2023 14:00

Oooo @shockerrr I LOVED Gwen Stefani and her style, wishing I'd never emulated her eyebrows though, still in recovery!

LadyWithLapdog · 27/02/2023 14:02

Why is it that eyebrows hair is the only one that doesn’t grow back, compared with all the other body hair??

LoobyDop · 27/02/2023 14:02

My eyebrows are naturally “fluffy” because they grow in the wrong direction, are too coarse to brush flat, and I’d have to pluck all the way to the middle to remove the offending bits. I’ve always just lived with them being “wrong”. Quite enjoyed having the right kind for a change and watching other people try and emulate them 😄
It’s a shame if that’s on the way out, but if I dealt with it in the 90s when I cared, I’m sure I’ll cope now.

Nomoreno · 27/02/2023 14:10

Amazing - I will be relevant again with zero effort 😂

My sister who has spent ££££ tattooing and microblading her brows from a natural Drew Barrymore to a Cara Delevingne is probably going to be miffed.....haha!

CanofCant · 27/02/2023 14:10

I'm really amused this might be coming back (if it does), I'm starting to feel so old as I remember things from the previous time around. I had the thinnest brows and I remember wanting the gap in between them to be even wider 🤣 even after being advised against it.

I won't be following it this time around, but it will be interesting to see.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 27/02/2023 14:13

I have never had 'thin' eyebrows but last week a friend threaded them and went a bit ...ehm...far!

I came home and my dd pounced on me with eyebrow dye!

AllOfThemWitches · 27/02/2023 14:14

Ugh no thanks, natural is in for me.

Dartmoorcheffy · 27/02/2023 14:14

I would never follow fashion if it was something that didn't suit me or made me look ridiculous, just because it was the current trend. The thick heavy eyebrows look comical on every person I have seen.

GinBlossom94 · 27/02/2023 14:22

I haven't changed the way I do my brows in 30 years, I just keep them how I like them

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 27/02/2023 14:31

When I google 90s brows I just see the spermy examples. But I remember another less extreme brow shape that more people went for: the first cm of your brow was natural and then it arched upwards and thinned out. Can't quite find a photo example of what I mean though,

GrilledBear · 27/02/2023 14:34

Don't mess with your eyebrows and hair for the sake of trends! Follow fashion in other ways.

Mercurial123 · 27/02/2023 14:42

It's not compulsory
