To be aware if you have an existing pre-paid 12 month subscription as I do - from January all returns are chargeable at £2.50 each. I don't recall seeing anything advising of this.

WHAAAAAT!

SeasonsBleatings · 14/02/2023 21:11

I had no idea until I tried to book a collection. Store returns remain free (as they should be!)

So even though I signed up last year I still have to pay? The whole reason I paid was to save me paying for returns coz their sizes were so inconsistent

plumduck · 14/02/2023 21:21

*For customers with existing subscriptions purchased on or before 25.01.2023:
Standard returns made via courier collection with a nextunlimited subscription are free of charge. *

Ah

HyggeTygge · 14/02/2023 21:22

I renewed my subscription mid Jan and it's free courier returns. I've used it since then and wasn't charged.

HyggeTygge · 14/02/2023 21:23

Xpost - that's appalling. I don't live anywhere near a store. Won't be renewing next year if they don't change it.

ReedRite · 14/02/2023 21:33

One of the main advantages of shopping at next is the quick delivery and free returns. If certainly isn’t for the prices, as they’re never the cheapest on any brands - they never discount any stuff, even when it’s on sale else and is really old stock. I won’t be renewing the next unlimited if this is now a thing.

SeasonsBleatings · 14/02/2023 21:34

Mine was purchased in April 2022 and renews in April 2023 and I'm being charged for collections now. I've cancelled my auto renewal.

ReedRite · 14/02/2023 21:34

Might be fair enough if there were nearby stores for a refund. But to close all the stores then charge is a piss-take.

Blablablablaba · 14/02/2023 21:35

That really bad. To be honest I mainly just return to store but I t sometimes return by courier if I know I'm not going to be near the shops for a while. The price has also gone up a lot too. I think it was £22 or £24 when mine renews in September but I'm sure I heard it's £26 now!

I actually live within a few miles of 2 next stores. One is in a shopping centre which I have to pay parking for though. The other is about 4 miles away.

It used to drive me mad though especially when I'd ordered in the sales. Would get home and then get a message another parcel had been delivered to store! I decided driving to pick up parcels and then again to return them was probably costing £20 or more a year in petrol. I don't think I'll renew it this time. I've hardly bought anything apart from Xmas sale items.

plumduck · 14/02/2023 21:37

I get why they want to limit returns but it doesn't seem worth paying if the only benefit is next day delivery

If only they hadn’t closed my local store Angry

Still free for me

I just checked my Next account and it now says that it’s £2.50 for a collection. I renewed mine for a year in September 2022. My nearest Next store is a 30-mile round trip, which is why I pay for this. Is it actually legal for a company to change what you have paid for mid-way through, and without even any notification? I feel a complaint to Next coming on!

SeasonsBleatings · 14/02/2023 22:37

Strange that some people are still getting collections included and others aren't. I'm really not happy and expect this will backfire massively with customers like me no longer subscribing. Unless I've missed an email on this the lack of comms is astonishing.

OP posts:
HyggeTygge · 14/02/2023 22:37

I'm assuming you can't return via post office for free? It's all a bit of a shitshow.

Even though it says this they are saying its £2.50 for me to return something. I bought the unlimited in the autumn 2022

Hang on, I've had a subscription for ages and I had to pay 2.50 for a return this week? Ffs

Oblongbluebell · 14/02/2023 22:43

Thanks for posting this OP. I’ve got Next unlimited and just saw that they want £2.50 for me to return items. I’m really not happy. Indont recall getting an email about this change and part of the reason I paid £20 was the unlimited returns.

sauvignonplonk1 · 14/02/2023 22:48

Just cancelled my subscription which is about to renew. The main reason for having it was for the free returns 🙄

sauvignonplonk1 · 14/02/2023 23:01

I've also lodged a complaint! Thank you OP for drawing my attention to this.

Oblongbluebell · 14/02/2023 23:04

I’ve emailed them about it.

@plumduck can I ask, where did you see that about Next honouring free returns for existing Unlimited subscribers? Thanks.

I also noticed that standard delivery has increased to £4.95.

Mumsnut · 14/02/2023 23:45

My subs renewed mid-December 2022 and £26 was included in that month’s statement for it. The advisory e-Mail specifically stated that returns would be free compared to a standard cost of &2.50. I just set up a dummy return and sure enough, was quoted &2.50. Will be on the phone tomorrow !

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 15/02/2023 01:28

Their delivery saver is a joke anyway.
I stopped mine as I don't usually get the use out of it but then later decided to order some sale stuff so paid for the delivery saver renewal. Ordered the items I wanted and it wouldn't let me have the free delivery I'd paid for. So I had to get it all delivered to store (20 mins drive away). Customer services couldn't help and said it was a glitch. Also couldn't change the delivery address back to my home. So now I'm stuck with an expensive delivery service and I rarely order from them. It does at least work now.

I've never used the returns function before but was intending to this time due to the distance to the store and seemingly ever reducing returns time. If they're charging for returns now too that's a complete piss take.

mickeysmug · 15/02/2023 01:38

ive just logged in and can see it’s £2.50 for me too. Won’t be renewing my delivery saver either. I’m also going to email them.
