@KindlyKanga the ultimate spring scent is Diorissimo (thanks for the reminder Judy!) I also wear Diptyque's L'ombre dans l'eau, SJP Lovely, Maison Martin Margiela's Lazy Sunday Morning, Goutal's Eau de Hadrien if I want to feel springlike.

Cantonet · 20/02/2023 08:16

Oh Diorissimo is just beautiful in spring. Though i still have a soft spot for Carillon pour un ange & it's unabashed potency..
I find Vintage Private Collection rather good in chilly spring weather. The slightly strident chrysanthemum & mossy green florals are highly effective at cutting through the cold . I also wear Cristalle edp & Private Collection Jasmine & white moss.
L' eau d' Hadrien used to be my choice too but it's changed. I still love the lemon blast but the cypress is not the same as it used to be in the edp. I'm selling my bottle on at the moment.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 20/02/2023 08:22

Haha, Carillon is one of the few Tauers that I absolutely can't wear! It smells terrifying on me. I once wore it on a crowded commuter train and I swear people were backing away 😆

Private Collection is a good shout.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 20/02/2023 08:23

@Cantonet are you selling on ebay? I'd definitely take a look if you are!

JFDIYOLO · 20/02/2023 08:23

Thank you @TakeYourHatOffBoy ! I think I'm going to ask for the set as a birthday prezzie - well I am being asked 🤗

I once did two sprays before breakfast.
Bad idea - I could taste it in my boiled egg 😝
My sample lasted three years ....
I'm surprised he sold any bottles.

JFDIYOLO · 20/02/2023 08:35

Scent memories ...

First scents I bought myself were Blasé and Charlie as a schoolgirl around 1979. Jackie Magazine and A levels...

I'm mystified how I did this, but then as a student and in my first job I wore Chanel no.5, Cristalle, 19 and Coco ... I did live in a cheap hostel near work so had no commuting and bills were included, but still - I can't justify it now! Still love no.5.

I also wore a Laura Ashley scent in the 80s which I loved, but can't remember its name. Think it may be discontinued but it was soft, powdery and subtle.

I also went through the 80s Opium phase (21st birthday prezzie).

Then working at an airport and flying for work came the duty free years - I adored those little sets of perfume miniatures - charming tiny replicas of Estée Lauder etc, where I found Beautiful and White Linen Breeze ... (a boyfriend from long ago, who died recently, loved that one ...)

Next delivered quite a few affordable, especially liked Define, which I haven't seen for a long time.

And most recently the White Company's Seychelles - a dry, fresh, beachy summer scent.

There are SO many out there now and I'm looking for my signature scent. Guess I always will be.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 20/02/2023 08:36

@Cantonet now you say that about Carillon, I recall you may be the poster who introduced me to another glorious spring favourite - Houbigant Orangers en fleurs. So thank you, if that's the case!

Cantonet · 20/02/2023 08:48

I think it was me @TakeYourHatOffBoy.
It was a beautiful perfume, but then I moved away from florals to green florals/ Chypres and sold it on. I still have a couple of orange blossoms - California Reverie & Nerolia Bianca plus a serge lutens decant. I will message you my eBay name.

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 20/02/2023 09:00

Lovely, thank you!

Chevyimpala67 · 20/02/2023 10:37

For me spring is;
4160tuesdays fluffy lemon top 🍋
4160tuesdays lemon sherbert🍋
4160tuesdays SSOTPE
4160tuesdays Temptation
Avon lbd weekend
Avon lbd
S&B white peaches 🍑

I struggle with spring and summer scents. Autumn and winter are my perfumed seasons 😊❤️

CorneliaStreet · 20/02/2023 11:20

@JFDIYOLO I'm pretty sure I had Next Define in a mixed set of travel sizes that I bought last summer. Is that the one that's meant to be a dupe for Armani She?

All this talk of spring scents is making me want to buy some new perfume, even though I really don't need any! Might have to go for a sample set of something.

alltheevennumbers · 20/02/2023 13:29

Too cold for spring scents here today so am trying out my sample of Marly Hamdani. Feared from the reviews that this was going to be a barnyard oud and therefore (for me) a mistake, but it turns out to be a smouldering, earthy resinous smell that comes in at a mid point between Rouge Bunny Rouge's Embers and the original version of the Zoologist Bat.

Hello, can I join? My perfume collection is ever growing and I really enjoy reading all of your descriptions and discussions around the subject.

I've recently joined the Perfume society for their subscription boxes and am looking forward to the spring edition as I do struggle with finding scents that suit that time of year. I'm an old goth at heart and my natural home is autumn and winter perfumes.

It's still fairly cold in London so SOTD is Byredo Oud Immortel

Welcome 👋
Sotd ck obsession again. I'm determined to finish this bottle 😊

LadyOfTheCanyon · 20/02/2023 14:22

Oh how I used to love Obsession!

I also remember when I was about 22 , being convinced that I would never wear any perfume except CK Escape. I bought a bottle in a fit of nostalgia last year and absolutely couldn't bear it!

I've got a bottle of vintage obsession for this autumn/winter in my perfume drawer :)

FestivelyScent · 20/02/2023 23:16

Will have to have a good look and categorise my spring scents, as I want to add to my collection but don't know what I'm missing. Feeling quite excited about this.

SOTN is Shalimar, which I wear right on through to Easter. ❄️

SOTD 4160T sexiest scent

Is it warming up yet, I'm ready for all my beach type perfumes! Wanted to wear gypsy water today but it's just the wrong weather for it

TakeYourHatOffBoy · 21/02/2023 09:51

SOTD is Dear Polly by Vilhelm Parfumerie. This is a lovely apple / tea scent; maybe a teeny bit on the sweet side for my tastes (even though I love a goood gourmand) but charming nonetheless. It smells expensive and understated, just like me haha.

I have an almost full bottle of Dear Polly that I need to use up - I was mad for it for a while and got through two bottles on the trot but then I just sort of ran out of enthusiasm for it. I think I went off the tea element of it.

SOTD is a sample of Nordic Cedar by Maya Njie that I got in my Perfume society Winter testing box. Not mad about cardamom as a note but we'll see how we go.

pepperaunt · 21/02/2023 11:15

Oops! Clearing out the bathroom cupboard and found a cosmetic bag pretty much full
of perfume samples. Some are so old they’ve oxidised!
for the next few weeks (months?) my SOTD will be Random Sample

Rebellious23 · 21/02/2023 12:47

SOTD commodity Milk expressive

L'Occitane Lavender edt on my clothes & La Fille de Berlin on my skin in project finish bottle.Trawled the charity shops with dd1 as she's finishing off her fifth year of uni & looks poverty struck, along with half of our town. I hate people pushing in right next to you when you're browsing. Does no one say excuse me any more ?
