Oops! Looks like we ran out of space on the last thread - I hope you all find your way over here.

Anyway, welcome fragrant friends to a shiny new thread!

As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

The old thread was full, so I couldn't link to this one. Hope you all find your way here.

SOTD is Youth-Dew.

Hi, thanks for the new thread @FestivelyScent

As usual, I haven't been able to post on the old thread once it gets past around half way... it's very annoying. I could adjust my MN settings, I suppose, but I like having a whole thread on one page and I'm afraid that if I change to pages for longer threads I won't be able to change back Confused

SOTD was MM Lazy Sunday Morning, and this evening I'm trying a sample of JPG's Scandal. It's described as a honey chypre and I probably like it enough to buy a bottle.

I've been doing a nerdy sort out of my fragrance collection today and have a long list of ones to retry/revisit.

I've been enjoying trying the 4160 Tuesdays January Joy samples and have a few new favourites from there on my wishlist.

InsomniacVampire · 30/01/2023 06:25

I'm continuing Zoologist fun with Camel today. I wanted something different, citrus fresh (I don't buy into the cosy for wingter / fresh for summer vibe, I wear everything all year round, but I could not find the bottle I wanted, so Camel it is).
I still have some of Margiela Coffee Morning or whatever it is called on my scarf and it is so disappointing I am glad I only had a sample of that.

Chevyimpala67 · 30/01/2023 08:40

Morning!
I didn't see a thread so started one but I've asked @mnhq to delete
sotd ck obsession

Alienbigcat45 · 30/01/2023 12:15

SOTD 4160 Tuesdays Eau my soul. This one has really grown on me and it's lovely on a cold Monday.

CorneliaStreet · 30/01/2023 17:38

Thanks for the new thread.

SOTD was Gallivant Tel Aviv, now wearing PP Angels Share for the evening.

wheresmymojo · 30/01/2023 19:34

Thanks for the new thread!

SOTD: First try of a Delina La Rosee sample.

I was really hoping to love it...but...meh. The opening is a bit too sweet for me, once that passes it's a pleasant enough watery fruity floral with the teeniest hint of musk.

But hardly any projection and TBH I feel like it doesn't smell much more complex or interesting than lots of much cheaper perfumes... Sad

At least I only got a 2ml sample and not a £200 bottle!

FestivelyScent · 30/01/2023 22:51

I have just bought new glasses but dislike the shape, so thought I'd reglaze my old favourites. Turns out reglazing my old frames is just as expensive as buying a completely new pair. Grrr.

SOTD is the deceptively simple Amber Absolute. Salty, rich amber and smoky, spicy frankincense. It always manages to smell subtly different.

DramaAlpaca · 31/01/2023 01:07

How annoying @FestivelyScent glasses are ridiculously expensive, I spend a fortune on mine <sigh>

SOTD Dior J'Adore, an old favourite.

SOTE Burnt Cedar Rainbow Doves from the 4160T January Joy box, and I'm loving it.

I've just bought a bottle of JPG Scandal after trying it yesterday.

Alienbigcat45 · 31/01/2023 12:48

SOTD Eau my soul again mixed with Amouage Interlude on my scarf.

Chevyimpala67 · 31/01/2023 12:53

Sotd kayali musk for a hospital appointment

wheresmymojo · 31/01/2023 13:23

Having read up on T-Rex 🦖 and taking into account that I scrubbed Firedance off which sounds like a tame version of it...

I rather suspect I'm much more of a Harvest Mouse Blush

SOTD: First try of Atelier Des Ors Lune Feline. On first sniff I thought it was going to be another Firedance (which I hated) as there was a fairly strong medicine and smoke vibe but that calmed down very quickly and it's left a lovely deep smokey vanilla.

Unfortunately the sample leaked in the post (glad I only got 2ml).

I think I'll probably put this on the list to purchase a larger sample next Autumn as I very much like it but it's definitely not the spring perfume I'm looking for...

wheresmymojo · 31/01/2023 13:27

Going into Winchester tomorrow (our nearest, albeit small, city). They have a Space NK so shall be browsing the scents!

CorneliaStreet · 31/01/2023 14:12

SOTD is PP Angels Share again. Working from home today so fine for me to be smelling strongly of apple pie!

It's a challenging scent for sure :)

I quite like that, though.

I'm not a huge fan of popular high steet perfumes. They all smell the same. That fruity, milky, sweet synthetic smell. Seems popular however so what do I know! :)

Had to withdraw from something today that I've been working towards for 3 years, because I have such bad brain fog atm, I can no longer concentrate for extended periods and it wasn't at all feasible to continue. I can always start again from scratch in the future when my migraines are under control, but so much money and work has been for nothing.

Anyway, SOTD is Ambre Narguile to cheer myself up. Hot cinnamon and stewed apples, because I saw mention of apple pie earlier. ❄️

Really sorry to hear that @FestivelyScent
I've had to do similar at the end of last year
Right decision but difficult xxx

FestivelyScent · 01/02/2023 00:09

Sorry you experienced something similar @Chevyimpala67 It's tough, isn't it. I, too, know it's the right decision for me, but sending that last email felt so final. Hopefully the only way forward from here is up.

Sorry to hear that @FestivelyScent. Hope you manage to get the migraines under control, they're bastards aren't they? I suffered with them very regularly from about age 13 when I started my periods, then they vanished altogether when I reached perimenopause. Such a relief, and so hard to find treatment that works effectively - I never really did.

SOTD was Hermes Twilly, the one with added ginger. SOTE is MM Sailing Day.

I think for me there was an element of relief tbh.
Time will tell as to whether i give up totally.
Sotd 4160tuesdays Shazam

FestivelyScent · 01/02/2023 15:14

Thank you @DramaAlpacaFinding a medicine to control them is definitely very tricky, and slow, it's where I am now, and seems to be a case of the Drs working their way down a list. Judging by how many I've tried, it seems to be a very long list (and an even longer list of awful side effects), but hopefully I'll eventually happen on something that works, at least in part.

@Chevyimpala67 Yes, definitely an element of relief here too, especially that the pressure is now off me. Mixed emotions, I suppose.

No SOTD as yet. Its been a slow day so far.

Sorry to hear you’re still suffering so much from the migraines @FestivelyScent. I sympathise - I get a bad headache pretty much every time I have to go into the office for the day now (i.e. two or three times a week). It’s rubbish. Hope they manage to find something that works for you soon.

I’m annoyed this evening. I am supposed to be getting my hair done at a lovely new salon at the weekend. It desperately needs colouring but I went for a skin test this afternoon and I have reacted to it, so I’m probably not going to be able to get it coloured now 😡

A Maison Margiela day here. SOTD Coffee Break, SOTE By the Fireplace.
