The Friendly Perfumistas Thread 35 - ❄️ ☃️ Winter may be here, but our scents will keep us warm!

Oops! Looks like we ran out of space on the last thread - I hope you all find your way over here.
Anyway, welcome fragrant friends to a shiny new thread!
As always, everyone is very welcome - we're most definitely open to Newbies. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

SOTD is Tom Ford Lavender Extreme. I have previously been extremely snooty about TF, with the new stupid 'edgy' names and the ridiculous price points. I bought some samples recently, though, and may have to start eating my words though, because this is FAB.
It's definitely not a shy-and-retiring prissy lavender - it's a bomb of bright lavender and violet, drying down to an addictive tonka / coumarin which smells deliciously incensey on me. I really like this A LOT! It would be amazing on a snowy day, weirdly.

SotD Sospiro Opera. This opens with a blast of ketotic fruity breath, but then a medicinal/smoky leather note comes in quite quickly and drowns that out for a bit. It then becomes more green/woody, and also sweeter (the fruit reappears) and get creamier. The patchouli note is rich like in Coromandel. It all combines together in an odd but luxurious way. It smells a bit like a harmonic note with multiple distinct frequencies.

Went out on a Saturday today for the first time in a long while and was surprised it wasn't busier. Normally I avoid Saturdays because packed shops and mobility issues don't mix happily, but it was quite normal out there today. Maybe it's the weather - although it's not actually cold, it's so damp it definitely feels cold.
SOTN is Amber Absolute. ❄️

SotD #1 Prada Mirages Babylon - listed notes for this are just labdanum, sandalwood and amber, but this also smells of strawberries and honey in it's opening, and has a smoky birch note and a nip of cedar when it gets going. I guess the term 'amber' hides a multitude of olfactory sins (or pleasures)? Can't smell the labdanum at all.

@Alienbigcat45 oh, I love Waft from the Loft! I blind bought 15ml thinking it was my style and it was.
SOTD is another 4160T, Lightning Ridge. I'm loving its damp, mossy, woodsy basenotes.
SOTE was a complete contrast, Prada Infusion d'Iris for a nice spring day. So green and crisp.

<waves to> @Judystilldreamsofhorses 👋😊
It is feeling a bit spring-like here too, albeit very damp, but I am clinging onto to my comforting spices and ambers for a little while longer.
SOTN is Ambre Narguile for watching the last ep of Vera. ❄️📺

I used to have a library of scents then finances meant it was a luxury I couldnt stretch to. Covid messed up my sense of smell and taste for a while, but it's back, I've got a good job - and I want perfume, but haven't the faintest idea where to start! I've gone right off a lot of my old one and I suspect menopause has changed how they smell on me. So I'm kind of starting again.
Has anyone tried the Saltworks perfume sample discovery set? £29 for 10 minis and there's a £25 voucher off your favourite full size (£95).

@JFDIYOLO I have Ko Meme from the Saltworks range which is lovely. Their perfumes are good quality and long-lasting so I would say the sample set is well worth trying. They also do handbag-size bottles which is fab for people like me who really, really dont need another full-size bottle! Their soaps and candles are excellent as well.
I live near their Ramsgate store - might pop in today and pick up the sample set myself!
