I rarely take my make up off

Just that, I wear makeup most days but hardly ever cleanse it off, I do moisturise before reapplying in the morning.
Im told I’ve great skin with few wrinkles for my mid 50s,
any one else willing to admit to a slovenly life.

OP posts:

I am a member of this slovenly club - I wear full-face slap (foundation the lot) Mon-Fri and when I go out at the weekends and I never take it off before going to bed. As others have said I suspect a lot has already come off during the day. I also have all white bedding. I'll even go a step further and admit that at the weekend I will often just lick my finger and wipe the old eye make up from under my eye and there's enough left from the previous day for me to be presentable enough to do the Saturday/Sunday morning errands etc. I may be tempting fate here but people comment on what good skin I have and I never get spots.

Eurgh this is wrong on so many levels. Do you really feel such a need to wear makeup for going to the shop for milk in a Saturday that you’d go out in yesterday’s slap diluted with saliva?

Also, do you not have a shower before you go out?

CavalierApproach · 21/01/2023 19:44

I judge people who wear so much makeup that it's still there to be rubbed all over a pillow 15 hours later

This doesn't even make sense

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 21/01/2023 19:26

I’m the same as Rebel2023.

Even in the event of a nuclear war, I’ll be removing, cleansing & moisturising, I’m afraid.

That's definitely me
The nurse did side eye me when I said "could you pass me my makeup bag please?"

I just love the feel of a nice cleansing balm and a hot flannel at the end of the day

MyPurpleHeart · 21/01/2023 19:54

I'm so guilty of this

But I only wear mascara and a bit of blusher as my skin is really good. Day to day that's all I need. Im terrible at cleaning my face at night and always do a big clean and moisturise in the morning before reapplying

TurtleTriplets · 21/01/2023 19:59

If I do a full face of make up, primer double wear foundation, the world and spray with enough setting spray I can usually get two days out of it if I freshen up my eyeshadow.

I actively avoid washing my face in the shower most of the time.

AlwaysGinPlease · 21/01/2023 19:59

Me reading that.

I don't wear makeup. Makes bedtime a doddle.

I don't shower or bath every day - 3 or 4 times a week. So I am also happily in the slovenly camp.

WhereAreWeNow · 21/01/2023 20:09

Well this has made me feel better. I think of myself as pretty slovenly and unkempt but I wear make up every day and I'm scrupulous about cleansing and moisturising every night, however tired/pissed/whatever I am. Maybe I'm not as slovenly as I thought.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 21/01/2023 20:19

Ugh I just couldn’t, I don’t feel clean without cleansing and applying my lotions and potions, it’s up there with teeth brushing.

lindyloo57 · 21/01/2023 20:28

I couldn't do it, even when after a night on the town drinking to much, how ever drunk I was, I still took my makeup off before bed.

Have never in my life cleansed or moisturised because no one needs to do that shit. I never wear makeup unless it is water soluble. Off it comes with soap and water. SPF and tret are the only things that make a difference. Why do people think women's skin needs this nonsensical pampering when men and children don't?

Good for you. If I washed with soap and water I'd need more moisturiser than after using my cleanser. I'm allergic to retinol so I wouldn't go near tret and I can't put makeup on over SPF, it slides off again in about 1/2hr.

Children haven't reached puberty yet that's why they don't need skincare. A lot of them do once puberty starts. And as for men, so many look like a sack of shit. Excessively wrinkly, spots and blackheads, greasy skin. They definitely would benefit from skincare.

Railwayroad · 22/01/2023 07:33

I don’t wear much make up. Eye make up yes. Bit of concealer. I use (bio degradable) wipes then a bit of Nivea. That’s it. I’m aghast at all the lotions and potions people use. I have great skin actually. Less is more seems to work for me.

Like a PP, I'm loving this two fingers up to the beauty industry that has really hammered home the message that all our faces will shrivel and fall off if not carefully tended. Go your own slatternly way, OP!

How is it two fingers to the beauty industry? The OP talks about wearing a full face of make up everyday - that is exactly what the beauty industry wants...

I would argue not washing your face at night isn't exactly a two fingers to anything except hygiene.

Purpleavocado · 22/01/2023 10:13

Wouldn't your mascara be all caked up around your eyes? I have to wash every night before I put on tret, but even if I didn't the thought of going to bed with it all on my face skeeves me out.

doadeer · 22/01/2023 10:46

I don't think it's two fingers up to the beauty industry if you wear a full face of makeup. I would argue that my skincare routine is about self care and only for me, not appealing to beauty standards. I give myself a face massage with oil and gua sha, people have done this for centuries. It's not to make myself look better for anyone, who would know? For me it's the same as eating well, drinking water, exercising, meditating... These are for me. When I used to wear makeup daily, I wanted to look attractive. Now I'm happy with my face as it is. I think that's more two fingers up to the beauty industry that wants to tell me my cheekbones would look better contoured, my lips need to look fuller etc

Deathraystare · 22/01/2023 11:06

I was listening on you tube to an eye specialist who saw a woman who had not removed her eye make up for about 26, yes 26 years! Also she applied fresh mascara every day! surprisingly she hadn't gone blind but a close up of her eyes UGH! I am surprised her mascara did not get very messy/smudgy/eye lashes didn't all fall out!

Shayisgreat · 22/01/2023 11:06

I don't tend to wear make up but I always always wash my face with water before going to bed! I get a really bad sleep if I feel dirty going to bed. I wear spf during the day and it irritates my skin if I don't wash it off. I'm finding this thread a bit gross really.

Knowivedonewrong · 22/01/2023 13:16

Jesus Wept that's pretty grim.

primeoflife · 22/01/2023 14:18

I was thinking of this thread this morning when I woke up and couldn't imagine not washing my face (which was cleansed last night). Then went out for a dog walk so she to it being minus 2 I would have hated going out without moisturiser on.

TheChosenTwo · 22/01/2023 14:24

Hahaha there are a lot of mingers on this thread 😂😂 fair play to you all; at least you know it’s lazy! I rarely wear any makeup at all these days but still cleanse and treat my skin, and on the odd occasion I do wear makeup I go to town that evening on removing it and having a fresh face to go to bed with.
Genuinely don’t care what other people do with their faces, it’s not my face to worry about!

Flameshame · 22/01/2023 21:52

Interesting to see the posters that have bought into the whole ‘you need to anti bac your carpet’ thing. Not washing your make up off isn’t ‘gross’ and shouldn’t ‘make you feel sick.’ It’s really nothing. I can imagine all your grey Mrs Hinched anti-bacced houses

stevalnamechanger · 22/01/2023 21:57

I am more concerned for your pillowcases , gross !

Flameshame · 22/01/2023 21:57

On the few occasions where I’ve got drunk and stayed out my face feels awful and my skin takes a couple of days to recover.

make-up doesn’t penetrate the skin so this is pure perception not reality.

people who wash their faces must also anti-bac their carpets? Confused
