I rarely take my make up off

Just that, I wear makeup most days but hardly ever cleanse it off, I do moisturise before reapplying in the morning.
Im told I’ve great skin with few wrinkles for my mid 50s,
any one else willing to admit to a slovenly life.

My eyes feel so crusty if I don't take my mascara off but each to their own!

Bringonsummer19 · 21/01/2023 17:13

Horrified!

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/01/2023 17:15

I always take mascara off, maybe once a month I don’t if I accidentally fall asleep first 😬 I can’t bear waking up in the morning with gritty sore eyes. So that’s the bare minimum.

Most of the time I just wear a pea size amount of foundation on my nose because I have large pores, I usually take it off, maybe once a week I don’t.

Did anyone else read that horrible article where sleeping in mascara caused it to build up under that woman’s eyelids and she had to have the hardened black lumps surgically removed? 🤮

NashvilleQueen · 21/01/2023 17:15

I take my eye make up off religiously but don't wash my face at night. Hate going to bed with a slimy face. Washed and cleansed in the shower every morning.

yousmellnice · 21/01/2023 17:17

Do you not wash your face at all before putting f moisturiser on?

Why is your face slimey when you wash it?

crossstitchingnana · 21/01/2023 17:21

Urggh this is rank.

CheeseDreamsTonight · 21/01/2023 17:21

I'm the same 50% of the time. I cleanse, oil, moisturise and reapply in the morning. Also have great skin.

Littlepixie85 · 21/01/2023 17:22

I'm similar, sometimes I remember and then feel like I'm a proper adult, but most of the time I'm too tired. I don't wear loads of makeup usually anyway. Got pretty good skin which is probably why I don't prioritise it! I do wash my face every day though.

antipodeancanary · 21/01/2023 17:24

Have never in my life cleansed or moisturised because no one needs to do that shit. I never wear makeup unless it is water soluble. Off it comes with soap and water. SPF and tret are the only things that make a difference. Why do people think women's skin needs this nonsensical pampering when men and children don't?

AbsolutePixels · 21/01/2023 16:48

I usually manage to take my makeup off, but on the nights when I'm too exhausted to do my routine, my skin always looks better the next day. Why???

I wholeheartedly agree with this too and it baffles me

Aphrathestorm · 21/01/2023 17:25

Apart from some mascara under the eyes I've no make up left by the end of the day. It seems to slip off my face after a few hours.

I only cleanse my face 1 or 2 times a week.

I look very young for my age.

Flameshame · 21/01/2023 17:26

Same here, 47, very rarely take make up off, always been told I have good skin. In fact when I started a routine last year my skin got worse!

Berrystraw · 21/01/2023 17:27

Hardly ever wash my skin. Great skin, no signs of aging, mid 40s. But I am of Mediterranean origin. And I also think that anyone without great skin would be washing theirs so you’re going to get some bias in this!!

Karmagoat · 21/01/2023 17:31

I’m very lazy at taking my makeup off before bed too and usually just do it in the morning, I very rarely use moisturiser either.
Always been the same since I started wearing makeup in early 20s.
47 now and have very good skin and hardly a wrinkle.

you risk getting eyelid cysts, styes and blocked tear ducts if you don't clean off your eye make up every day. I had one of these despite cleaning off my mascara, and it was unslightly and painful. I clean very carefully now.

Snowybeach · 21/01/2023 17:35

I would always take face make up off with cleanser but I do sleep in mascara.

I have eczema. I 100% need to cleanse (aka wash) and moisturise (emollient to trap water) every day. Otherwise my face will rash and then bleed.

It's not shit for everyone.

Demonto · 21/01/2023 17:39

I have good skin for my early 40s and I seldom take mine off unless I've a proper full face on for a night out. I did get an eye infection once which changed my ways for a year or two but I've reverted Blush

primeoflife · 21/01/2023 17:42

I'm really confused that in the morning if you've had a full face surely it's all over everywhere so you need to cleanse to start again 🤔.

I get people who don't wear make up maybe not doing it (although I still think it's grim!). My mascara and eye shadow would be on my cheeks (I may know this from when I have been a bit worse for wear and not taken it off!!)

Wednesdayschildhasstubbedhertoe · 21/01/2023 17:47

I'm pretty crap with my skin too, and people comment on how good it is. I think a lot of the products make it worse tbh. It's a massive con.

EveSix · 21/01/2023 17:50

I've got really good skin (nearly 50) and wash my face about once a week with a flannel and whatever bar of soap is in the bathroom. I hardly ever moisturize. I wear waterproof eyeliner and a small amount of mascara; I tidy it up with a dab of spit and / or hand lotion on a bit of looroll if it's migrated below my eyes. I always get told how fresh and well I look.

DrFoxtrot · 21/01/2023 17:50

There was an article about a woman who never removed her mascara and deposits of it built up under her eyelids Shock I'll find a link.

I always remove make up.

DuploMum · 21/01/2023 17:51

Me too 🤣 and it doesn't even bother me 😆
