I rarely take my make up off

Just that, I wear makeup most days but hardly ever cleanse it off, I do moisturise before reapplying in the morning.
Im told I’ve great skin with few wrinkles for my mid 50s,
any one else willing to admit to a slovenly life.

Yuk I would feel dirty, I have to be clean before I go to bed. And what kind of makeup doesn’t come off on the pillows?? Unless you’re a back sleeper 😂

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 21/01/2023 17:58

I have to remove makeup, cleanse and moisturise. I’d feel grubby otherwise.

CavalierApproach · 21/01/2023 18:01

Next time I see someone claiming that MN is full of hygiene obsessives, I'll think about this thread

Koalacuddles · 21/01/2023 18:01

I don’t bother most nights. I don’t wear much - just cc cream and a bit of eyeliner and mascara. I have a shower on the morning and use a face wash then.
whenever I try to get a night time routine going, o break out. My skin hates me if I deviate from dove soap, Nivea cream and a bit of cheap Lidl serum.
my white pillows are fine!

How do you not get make uo up on your pillow cases? Do you lie on your back all night???

Mouthfulofquiz · 21/01/2023 18:10

What makeup do you wear? I just wear mascara and blusher. You cannot go to bed with mascara on so that always comes off no matter what. Are you talking about sleeping with full cover foundation on? If so, that is gross. 😂
I’m sure other stuff I do is pretty gross too though, so I’m not judging!

I am a member of this slovenly club - I wear full-face slap (foundation the lot) Mon-Fri and when I go out at the weekends and I never take it off before going to bed. As others have said I suspect a lot has already come off during the day. I also have all white bedding. I'll even go a step further and admit that at the weekend I will often just lick my finger and wipe the old eye make up from under my eye and there's enough left from the previous day for me to be presentable enough to do the Saturday/Sunday morning errands etc. I may be tempting fate here but people comment on what good skin I have and I never get spots.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 21/01/2023 18:12

Oh God I'm very live and let live, but this thread has skeeved me out good and proper.

TheOGCCL · 21/01/2023 18:16

Another one guessing you are not wearing a full face, heavy foundation, bronzer, powder etc as that would definitely show up on your pillow.

I wear light make up and actually it sort of melts away through the day on its own (a whole different thread) so there's not all that much left by bedtime.

I think the human body is very good at taking care of itself and there's a line of thought that water on your face is always bad for the barrier.

I think this could be like the don't wash your hair every day and it becomes less greasy. So fine and definitely works for some but would not work for others.

Dreamsoffreedomjoyandpeace · 21/01/2023 18:17

I do this if I’m really tired but after a few days I get spots and blocked pores. I’ve got very oily skin though.

mintdaisy · 21/01/2023 18:17

I find make up really uncomfortable and despite wearing it almost daily I take it off as soon as I get home, I can't imagine ever washing it off. I'm quite in awe of you to be honest!!

jazzandh · 21/01/2023 18:21

I have good skin (early 50's) to be fair I don't wear make up every day anymore - but when I do I don't take it off. I tidy up dark patches under my eyes the next morning - that's about it!

My face only gets a full wash when I wash my hair (every 3/4 days) but I do apply moisturiser (SPf50) every day.

No spots.....no blackheads etc ...nothing!

less is more 😂

Aphrathestorm · 21/01/2023 17:25

Apart from some mascara under the eyes I've no make up left by the end of the day. It seems to slip off my face after a few hours.

I only cleanse my face 1 or 2 times a week.

I look very young for my age.

Same. I’m also in the bit of water or moisturiser on a bit of loo roll to clear off the remaining mascara under my eyes.

I do wash my face in the shower but not with anything different to the rest of my body.

I don’t wear much make up though-my foundation is very light.
I don’t think I would like being able to feel it on my face so maybe I would take more care to remove it if I wore heavier make up

CavalierApproach · 21/01/2023 18:31

All the people mentioning that make-up 'slips off' by the end of the day: what about sweat and oil and environmental airborne crap?

Wash your damn faces, you absolute delusional mingers

Oblomov22 · 21/01/2023 18:31

I don't either, I only wash my face in the shower every morning with water. When you say makeup it depends what you think you should be taking off, in the evening. I only put on tinted moisturiser in the morning.

KimmySchmitt · 21/01/2023 18:32

Licking your finger and wiping under your eye 🤢 no, it is not enough. I don't care if you're all self-reporting 'great skin', I don't believe it. There must be a smell to. Unwashed skin smells.

KimmySchmitt · 21/01/2023 18:33

*too

Onthegrid · 21/01/2023 18:34

I am over 50 and have never had an evening make up removal routine and I am most likely to take off my clothes and contact lens, brush my teeth and just get into bed at night than anything else.
In the morning I will wash my face with water at the least and usually face wash too. Then moisturise and apply light mineral powder foundation and some eyeliner. I wear mascara when I can be bothered.
If I go out out and go overboard on the make up I might cleanse before bed but honestly usually I am slightly tipsy and can’t be arsed.
my pillows are fine, my skin was combination with spots until I was over 30 and changed to mineral make up. I am still wrinkle free.

ComfortablyDazed · 21/01/2023 18:35

Sorry, I just don’t believe you that there is no make-up on your pillowcases. Not possible. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I presume you shower - at least sometimes…….?

So you’re washing your face in the shower - rather than applying more make-up on top of moisturiser and make-up.

I mean, great that your skin’s in good shape.

But your face would look a tight state with the make-up on top of endless moisturiser + more make-up…. 😬

YouJustDoYou · 21/01/2023 18:37

My mum is the same, but I can't wear a lick of foundation for more than 6 hours without breaking out

Krakenes · 21/01/2023 18:38

I never used to and thought I had really good skin. Just started a proper regime with toner, serum, etc. The difference is noticeable. My brother even commented on how good my skin is looking!! Would never go back now. I also use Elemis cleanser in the shower in the morning and it lasts ages and makes my skin so smooth.
