I have the Ola in the black. They are reasonably comfortable probably better this year if I wear them more. I found I felt my big toe was quite near the top, this was in my normal size, but I find that with most round shaped shoes. I am definitely not the next size. I have struggled with sandals generally over the last couple of years as I’ve found my foot slipping to the extent that I get a blister on the ball of my foot. I have had to have most pairs in the tightest hole. The green looks lovely.

I don't really need any more sandals but I rather like the Fracap ankle shoes in ink, does anyone have these? One of the reviews suggested they always need to be worn with socks as they are unlined, I assume they mean the colour might bleed?

Snowyowl78 · 22/02/2023 19:22

@ToastCosILoveIt i think that all the models on the dresses on the website are wearing them!

dudsville · 22/02/2023 20:52

Anyone else get a mild panic when you go to favourites and see that this thread suddenly has loads of messages? 😂

I'm relieved to see it's socks and sandals chat!

My current interest is the buffalo check wool coat, which l can't see ever reducing to a price i would be willing to pay, and it would be redundant in my wardrobe as i already have a vibrant, fabulous wool coat (the orange dogtooth). But does anyone have it and can tell me how wonderful it is so i can admire it from afar?

@Theteapotsbrokenspout , I must admit that i have the fracap ankle shoes in ink, bought a couple of summers ago. I tend to wear them in autumn and spring with opaque tights or thin socks. I have found them true to size (tried to size up but they were too big) but It have never worn them without socks or tights.

Noodle421 · 22/02/2023 17:38

@ToastCosILoveIt Quite a few of the Toast models online are wearing the new olive colour - zoom in to have a closer look. They are seriously gorgeous…
I’m imagining you looking very chic and stylish wandering around the streets of Lisbon…

Thank you @Noodle421, i have zoomed and now they are in my shopping bag along with the Bryn Tie Neck Dress which I am frightened will sell out before I get my mitts on it. I don't know about looking chic in Lisbon but Toast has certainly taken me a few places feeling well dressed!

Re this lovely conversation about ankle socks and sandals/open shoes, I do think it is a good look and one that can be worn at any age.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/02/2023 22:28

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt I think I’ll give them a try. I might have to invest in some grown up looking thin ankle socks as well, mine are all thick as I normally wear them with footless tights and boots.

Snowyowl78 · 23/02/2023 06:55

eek there’s a whole load of new renewed stuff on for similar prices! Some nice ones (linen trousers) that I would have considered if in my size but again really expensive!

@dudsville i like that coat too- there are some good pics of it on the Bath Instagram. I wouldn’t be surprised if it went into a spring sale as it’s definately winter stock and I think it’s been out a while? Probably still be around £400 though!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/02/2023 08:39

I do like these trousers but I don’t think I’d buy them, although it’s made me wonder if I could do something similar with my machine.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/02/2023 08:41

The Dogtooth coat also looks good, but not anything I’d ever buy (not my size either).

dudsville · 23/02/2023 09:00

Thanks Snowy, I'm not on IG so I wasn't able to view, but I shall do some internet browsig for pics later!

That coat @Theteapotsbrokenspout , it does look good, thouch I'm not a fan of the work on the collar, but again, I boughtthe orange version of that coat for under £200 in a sale. That just irks.

I'm wearing a new combi today, the black/ecru cotton wool trousers with the chocolate alpaca sweater, and I'm already missing winter when I'll not be able to wear these things!

The Dogtooth coat also looks good, but not anything I’d ever buy (not my size either).

I bought that coat for £195 at the Llandeilo store in October. Toast says It took three hours to do the appliqué. Fair enough but still a large price leap.

alliscalm · 23/02/2023 09:21

Sorry, just saw your post saying the same thing, Dudsville. Shoot me down but I feel these embellishments are getting a bit early Per Una…

Snowyowl78 · 23/02/2023 09:24

@Theteapotsbrokenspout those are the ones I liked too and I was looking at those trousers before anyway, sadly they will be too small for me!

there is a Toast live at 1pm for it. I look forward to the comments!

oh dear @alliscalm now that’s all I can see!

Blossomtoes · 23/02/2023 09:24

I knew that reminded me of something, you’re absolutely right @alliscalm. How long do we give it before they start adding mismatched buttons?

Saurus72 · 23/02/2023 09:43

Morning, following on from the earlier sandal chat, I have a v random non-Toast question. Has anyone tried these Saltwater sandals? I love my normal Saltwaters but they’re not good for walking miles and I’m wondering if these could be a more comfy option?

FiddleFigs · 23/02/2023 09:53

@Saurus72 - I have those Saltwaters and really love them - so comfortable compared to the thinner soled version. I do quite a bit of walking around London, and no blisters or sore feet. Of all my pairs of sandals, I wore them most often last year. I have them in tan and they go with everything. Tempted to get another colour this year (olive, perhaps), and just get rid of all other sandals!

MaroonedOnADesertIsland · 23/02/2023 10:02

@alliscalm oh no the kiss of death for the Toast renewed items!

I don't have much to add to the chat about the renewed items which hasn't already been said (mainly being agog at the prices). I do like something like this where it has added to the design (tho is this tending towards Per una 🕵😂)

I like this visible mend and this one

I dropped off a dress with a ripped pocket to my local store and asked for a visible mend so will report back.

I also have the Ola fracap sandals but can't contribute to the discussion as I bought them in the Autumn and haven't worn them yet. I was worried they wouldn't restock - they have but at £10 more this year. When trying them on I did not think they were narrow (my feet are on the wider side and they were comfy). I took my usual size. I will definitely be trying the socks and sandals look with them to start wearing them sooner than the summer. I can't do socks and sandals with an open toe but think I could manage with these as they have a closed toe.

I've enjoyed the Toast chat about what people have been buying. So far nothing has really grabbed me from the recent drop.

dudsville · 23/02/2023 10:06

I think that's a perfect description @alliscalm !

Saurus72 · 23/02/2023 10:13

Oooh @FiddleFigs so happy to hear that thank you! I really really hate shoe shopping (as opposed to dress shopping!) and so I really like to just get it sorted so I don’t have to think about it. Am ordering the tan now and also sorely tempted by the olive…

Agree!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/02/2023 11:34

@alliscalm I knew it reminded me of something, Per Una vibes definitely.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/02/2023 14:58

Thanks to last night's chat, the Ola Olive sandals are winging their way via next day delivery along with the Bryn dress.

MiracleToast · 23/02/2023 14:58

I think the renewed section could have been a real hit if they’d sold them at sale prices. But for me it doesn’t quite work with the prices being so high. Nice idea, just approached it slightly wrong I think.

faustina · 23/02/2023 15:25

I just watched the live thing. Some of the work is really pretty (some not so nice). I totally get why you might want to buy something you didn't manage to get before with a little splash of embroidery, especially if it's damaged deadstock - however they explained the pricing and it was the original price plus the hours that the extra work took. Why are they charging the original price for items that customers have returned as damaged?? Plus the charge to do a visible repair (however pretty) That is madness!
