@faustina hmm not my colour either.

I’m really loving the blue/green set I got in the sale, hopefully I’ll get another graphite duvet when finances permit as I seem to have lots of extra pillowcases.

Saurus72 · 14/01/2023 19:27

@AFingerofFudge Tge jumpsuit looks fabulous on you! I have a Franca dress in navy jersey from a few years ago and it’s very flattering- it looks lovely on you. Quite a good season it seems - bit scared for my bank account…

QueenJaineApproximately · 14/01/2023 20:29

Thanks for new thread @Countmeout

Snowyowl78 · 14/01/2023 20:41

@AFingerofFudge wow amazing report thank you- it was me who asked about the brown jumper thank you!
i am so tempted by the jumpsuit now, might have to try it now! Was that true to size too?

TempleofZoom · 14/01/2023 21:06

Oooh lovely a thread heading towards Spring.
I have little pots of Narcissus dotted around which cheer me up no end.
They go to the allotment once finished.

My firewood donegal arrived, lovely colour which will look nice with one of my many Toast denim skirts.
The bitter chocolate velvet skirt is an absolute gem, just gorgeous.
Bit confused as mine has flat pleats at the front which look wider than the picture and lots of reviews describe bunching over the tummy, whereas mine is extremely flattering.
It's a high waistband-I went for a 12 which is not too clingy, perhaps sizing up reduces the bunching?
Putting aside the dry cleaning, this is such a nice heavy velvet skirt, I will always wear tights anyway and will avoid messy food when wearing.

I love that jumpsuit, the gansey ( wool/ cotton!) and the side button denim skirt are on my list.

lordloveadog · 14/01/2023 22:26

Fudge that all looks great on you! Thanks for all the intel.

MsCFlower · 14/01/2023 22:29

Well I have totally have changed my mind on the Landscape check dress. A few days ago I said I wasn't going to order it despite loving the fabric due to how voluminous it looked. Anyway, I went for it and I think it is a keeper. For somebody who tries to look slim in clothing this goes against what I usually buy but it feel so lovely on and I actually like the shape of it on me. I think it will become one of those dresses I reach for in a hurry as so easy to wear. Has anybody worn it during the winter and if so how did you style it?

@Hadtochangeforthisone -welcome to the thread.

I'm not sure from your post - are you looking for general clothing advice or are you particularly interested in advice about Toast clothing?

We are quite a niche interest group (one brand appreciation society) so, if you are looking for wider advice, you would do much better starting your own thread.

If you are specifically interested in Toast clothes, then let us know. There would be a few pieces that could suit your shape/needs.

Your job sounds very challenging - I am sure you have earned a lovely retirement break. Good luck with finding the perfect capsule wardrobe.

I have just received this today. Personally, I will be wearing black tights and my dm shoes/boots with it. Equally it would look fab with tights and trainers.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/01/2023 00:22

Im not convinced it suits me. It also arrived really crumpled. I think I need to give it an iron before making a decision on it.

Well done for your weight loss @Hadtochangeforthisone . You might find buddycat66 useful on Instagram. She wears lots of Toast dresses and looks fab!

neveradullmoment99 · 15/01/2023 00:29

She is quite casual though...

faustina · 15/01/2023 05:25

@Hadtochangeforthisone - hello and good luck with choosing your new wardrobe!
Another instagram person you could look at is wearsitatkat, she's got a great eye for putting clothes together
For slouchy jumpers - Brora have an alpaca mix slouchy one in their sale which is beautiful and very warm, but they also do slouchy cashmere (and now's the time to buy it for less). Also Chinti and Parker
If you like Toast and you didn't post here by accident, it might be worth trying some of their beautiful dresses?
Hope you find some beautiful things!

ilovecherries · 15/01/2023 07:21

fudge, you look fabulous in the dress and jumpsuit.

@faustina was it you that had the knitted scarf in the last thread? Can you remind me where it came from? I meant to say how much I liked it but that thread moved so fast!

@hadtochangeforthisone welcome. I lost nearly 6 stone in 2016 so I understand the pouch thing. Mine IS actually still getting smaller, even though I’m now in my 60s although I haven’t lost more weight but it does still seem to be sucking in a bit even after all this time. However, won’t lie, fixed waists are always an issue so now I just bypass them. For trousers I tend to shop for Toast Gabis or Alix (elasticated or part elasticated waists). Hush for casual wear and Cos, M&S and John Lewis Kin have all had some gems with elasticated waists. I wear a lot of dresses and I love good knitwear and layer a lot. I pay attention to where things end - sometimes trying to cover things makes it worse so I tend to either aim for high thigh or my waist and not have things cutting across or finishing just below my worst bit. I actually also wear a lot of belts as they tend to create a waist for me where none exists. I don’t really worry about ‘flattering’ as such but I know what I like, what suits me, and what I feel comfortable in. I’m def comfort driven in my choices. Good luck, it’s an exciting time!

Countmeout · 15/01/2023 07:41

@Hadtochangeforthisone just echoing what @ilovecherries says. Well done on your weight loss.

perusing Instagram this morning specifically the Toast posts, what colour are those new Alix trousers in real life? I thought initially they were like a bottle green which I’m not keen on as it was a school uniform colour, but on the videos they look a softer green. I have to say I get slightly irritated by the colours as nothing ever seems to be the colour you thought when it arrives.

faustina · 15/01/2023 07:42

I meant to say how wonderfully that jumpsuit looked too - it was made for you @AFingerofFudge !

@ilovecherries - here's the website. www.scarletknitwear.co.uk delivery was amazingly quick and she has such beautiful colours.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 15/01/2023 08:59

@neveradullmoment99 I’ve been really disappointed with how crumpled and creased my last lot of sale items have arrived. It’s almost as if they’re getting fed up with keep sending out the same items over and over again.
Hopefully things from the new drop won’t arrive the same way.

dudsville · 15/01/2023 09:35

Morning everyone and thanks for the new thread @Countmeout!

I'm really enjoyingv seeing the clothes, love the outfit @Saurus72 , and seeing that fairisle on you makes me wish i had bought it. Also love the denim pinafore and the way you styled it is similar to what I've done with mine. Mine was the denim wrap dress, but it was too much fabric and didn't look nice with the belt so i removed a panel and the belt, turning it into a pinafore, will get a pic in a moment.

@AFingerofFudge, love your investigation and report! That 1st dress on you is perfect, and a couple of tops you trued are ones i was also interested.

I'm spending the weekend indoors, in a toast nightie and cos oversized jumper... the next background is my OH's office.

On we go Toasties heading for Spring???
neveradullmoment99 · 15/01/2023 10:08

Stoic123 · 14/01/2023 17:03

@AFingerofFudge - agree that the Franca Dress should be no. 1 of the list - looks great on you.

Thanks for the sizing guidance.

I am a similar size to you @AFingerofFudge and that dress is always the best shape for me. I have quite a few. It is without a doubt the nicest thing on you. Definitely a number 1 purchase!

dudsville · 15/01/2023 10:10

Also, the stack check dress arrived. I have the trousers, love the fabric, tried the jumpsuit (ridiculous shaping for me), and thought the dress at £50 was a good price. Verdict: I love it. For me its a house dress and I had to get a small to not be swamped in it. The sleeves are oddly cut but look great roughly turned up.

I also tried the blouson coal/ochre check blouse, loved the fabric and sleeves but the body is too boxy. Considered getting the men's shirt made in the same fabric, then realised that the utility shirt dress is also in this fabric - the fabric is so different irl that i didn't recognise it. I'm not a fan of this thing they're doing with the additional fabric in one section of the skirt but at £65 it's worth a try.

I'm really tempted by the ikat fishermen trousers. She's anyone have these?

neveradullmoment99 · 15/01/2023 10:11

lordloveadog · 14/01/2023 22:26

Fudge that all looks great on you! Thanks for all the intel.

Thank you so much! Its been fantastic that you have been able to describe and post things on here.
So everything is mostly true to size now? A 14 is a 14 etc?
Fab!

MiracleToast · 15/01/2023 10:41

I agree @Theteapotsbrokenspout my lovely robe arrived in a wet sack (Scotland) and without even any tissue paper or anything. It was quite disappointing and felt careless on their part.

dudsville · 15/01/2023 11:20

Hi and welcome @Hadtochangeforthisone ! I think Toast can perfectly suit a capsule wardrobe that's both casual and appropriate for a high profile police environment - i.e. it's suitable to presentations, meetings, tv. And I also think £1k is doable to get you started. FWIW, I spent about £800 when I started overhauling my wardrobe a few years back, then I spent a couple of years just collecting basics from the sales. Of course I then lost it with the summer 2022 sale and have bought loads in the sales since - I need to start curbing that!!!

I'd sugest patience to wait for a sale and have a credit card limit that will allow you to pounce on every possible item so that you can see what really suits you IRL. So, for instance, with this sale I kept 1/5th of what I spent in monetary terms (£ not # of items), and there were surprising things that I kept, and things that I presumed would be obvious keepers turned out not to be. Also, with Toast it's been hard to work out what the fit will be like so I've taken to buying two sizes quite often as items might sell out before you get your package and learn that the thing of beauty is no longer available.

With regard to comfortable tummies, over the last few years dresses tend to be loose around the middle, more trousers have been elasticated, and tops a-line. I've read that the larger/looser fitting designs have been generated out of the pandemic, so at some point I expect there to be a swing back. For this reason I think it would be a good idea to buy more of the things you love while they're in fashion. For me, I love the pleated trousers, which also come in and out of fashion, so this is something I bought several of.

I don't know when the next sale will be, can't recall if there's usually a spring time one but that would make sense, the summer one should have loads.

A few us of here have largley Toasty wardrobes - for me I think this makes getting dressed really easy as the seperates tend to go together nicely, but the brand also fits nicely with COS and Arket - and they're cheaper.

We'll enjoy hearing about your purchases and thinking here if you care to share!

Snowyowl78 · 15/01/2023 11:28

I think the next sale will be mid March for this new stuff. I ought to wait really but I think I am going to try and jumpsuit and the Franca dress as it looked great on @AFingerofFudge
i am going to wait for the sale for anything more ‘occasion wear’ like the other dresses.
@AFingerofFudge whatbwas the length like on the jumpsuit? I am 5’3 and I am guessing I’ll have to take it up.
