Excuse the appalling state of the mirrors and shoddy photos but I am very pleased with both purchases, despite my general despair at my weight gain.

The Drift Check Dress feels lovely on. I sized up to the large, partly due to weight gain (I'm a 14 at the moment, probably at the top end of) and partly due to the sizing changes. I'm glad I did. It's still roomy, but I have a big bust and I think if I'd gone for the medium it would have been too tight across the chest.

The checked trousers are gorgeous! They too are a large, again for both reasons. They're actually a bit loose, and I would have probably changed them for a medium but they are out of stock and actually they might possibly have been a bit tight. So actually I'm happy with the way they are, what do you all think?? Smile

And the last photo

Love everything on you! The trousers look fab!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 16/02/2023 16:52

Love the dress on you @AFingerofFudge , and the trousers are great - especially like them in the last photo.

Noodle421 · 16/02/2023 18:01

The dress looks super on you !
Like the trousers but the dress is really special

Countmeout · 16/02/2023 18:05

That’s a great dress to dress up or down @Fedupofthis78 . Well done on the weight loss.

Love both those @AFingerofFudge . I think the dress is a very good shape on you. The trousers look redder than everyone in reviews says, but I’ve probably missed the boat. Do you mind saying what height you are?

@AFingerofFudge - that dress looks absolutely beautiful on you - understated and perfect

Blossomtoes · 16/02/2023 19:17

The dress looks wonderful. I’m guessing you’ll be wearing that for years @AFingerofFudge.

I’ve been thinking more about the repaired stuff. A couple of years ago I discovered a little company called Nearly New Cashmere, they repair cashmere knitwear and resell it. I bought a man’s cashmere jumper there for £45 and took a motheaten spotted Pure jumper in for repair, they returned it like new, invisibly mended and debobbled for £20. That’s my idea of sensible recycling. I’m afraid Toast has just pissed me off.

TreetopsandRain · 16/02/2023 19:32

@Stravaig absolutely Incredulous my face has been Hmmgoing though that list of renewed items.

£160 for a worn, pilling jumper that was damaged enough to need repair -the purchaser will even be paying for the pleasure of de-bobbling the item.

How embarrassing, Toast clearly showing what they think of their customers. For the last few years I've drifted away from Toast realising that absolutely beautiful quality items - triple the Price-Point of Toast - can be purchased for Toast prices (and lower than these 'renewed' prices) during end of season sales.

This kind of nonsense reinforces why I've been shopping less and less at Toast for a long while now - Ludicrous

Do we think Toast read Mumsnet, and are aware of our comments and the general consensus 🤔.

dudsville · 16/02/2023 19:47

I'm also a fan of that dress on you@AFingerofFudge and those trousers look like the fun item they promised. I doubt they'll ever make it to a sale.

BlackRookInRainyWeather · 16/02/2023 19:49

@TreetopsandRain Where do you shop instead? I do generally get lots of wear out of my Toast items but I am always on the lookout for alternatives!

I enjoyed wearing the Bryn tie neck dress at the weekend and it will be a trusty work dress for me.

faustina · 16/02/2023 19:52

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - there was a point where they commented on here once or twice, except they didn't really say anything, you know like the 'I'm sorry you found our trousers not to your liking' replies that they sometimes add to customer reviews on their website. As you can imagine they were given short shrift. Then they disappeared again

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 16/02/2023 19:57

So perhaps they are still reading the threads then, just not commenting.

Trinitybean · 16/02/2023 19:57

That dress and trousers look great. Feeling everyone's pain re weight, last September I went swimming in a river practically naked with others including fit man, I would not be doing that now. In my case it's because I've barely moved! Please tell me some other places I can go to other than Toast. I keep praying they'll go back to JL!

I'm sure they do read it. They will have a PR section I'm sure of that!

Stravaig · 16/02/2023 20:29

If Toast have been lurking about then I'm even more disgruntled that they de-Kindreded me, instead of just designing some trousers with the waist, crotch and hem in the right places, like they used to 🤣

Gobsmacked!
I'm all for mending and the Monty Don repaired look but this is a complete p*sstake.
£££ for ratty, bobbled, holey ( probably moths) stuff.
Way to make toast customers feel greatHmm

neveradullmoment99 · 16/02/2023 20:40

I re-ordered the gingham trousers for delivery tomorrow costing me £6. They have sent it by evri! OMG they are awful in my area.

mizu · 16/02/2023 20:59

@Stravaig hmmm yes I was looking at one of the pairs of trousers which had added red embroidery on the hems and waistline £180 Shock and thought I'm not much of a seamstress but I could probably do similar!!

mizu · 16/02/2023 21:07

@AFingerofFudge love the dress, I'm still debating the pinafore one. 50 today and have had TOAST vouchers so may go in for another look. That green tie dress looks lovely too.

AFingerofFudge · 16/02/2023 21:29

Thank you everyone for the comments. I'm definitely keeping both the dress and the trousers, now I just need to work out how to style the dress!

Happy Birthday @mizu - enjoy spending the Toast vouchers!

dudsville · 16/02/2023 22:28

Happy birthday @mizu!

lordloveadog · 17/02/2023 08:04

Happy birthday for yesterday Mizu!

I like that dress on you @AFingerofFudge . I would wear it with silver jewellery, but I am very unimaginative in styling.

Noeggsontoast · 17/02/2023 08:27

Happy birthday for yesterday @mizu! 🎉🎂 hope you had a great day.

Love both of your purchases @AFingerofFudge

I've just caught up with the Toast renewed discussion and viewed on the website - cannot say I'm impressed. A little like the old stock of fisherman rib jumpers they had embroidered for sale before Xmas, I looked and felt I can do the same - so I did!

I'm doing a non purchase February, but do have my eye on a couple of things. The Romily dress, the Bryn dress and the tie waist navy jumpsuit. There is also a sort of block tie dyed skirt that's in an image for a jumper but not yet for sale - greens and blues that I'm very keen to see properly....
