I agree @Theteapotsbrokenspout my lovely robe arrived in a wet sack (Scotland) and without even any tissue paper or anything. It was quite disappointing and felt careless on their part.

Yes packaging is a bit of a bugbear for me too. I can’t see why they don’t use a cardboard box for everything. Sale stuff often doesn’t even get a piece of tissue. I can forgive H and M stuffing things in a bag now but I think it’s poor Toast doesn’t do better.

I actually also rate Uniqlo for plain basics. I have a couple of their long viscose tunic shirts which I wear with my Toast balloon trousers and I during the last cold spell when we were away visiting and near a store I bought two pairs of their flannel pj trousers which after a couple of washes are still coming out beautifully ..and I rate the fabric quality of those as being as good quality as my Toast ones . Of course as with all of these the finish quality is often not as good as Toast . I am quite often in Watford as DH family are there and I always go to Uniqlo and pretty often come out with something ..
Cos is good also especially for basics. I have two pairs of their wide leg trousers which I wear a lot

Thanks for the new thread @Countmeout

I've not kept up with the thread and have loads to go back and read!

I'm done with the sale now I think. I've decided to keep the Chie Mihara sandals after much deliberation, they're also very comfy for flat sandals.

I've worn my chalk long sleeve francis tee and the navy and black boat neck tees a lot, so will keep an eye out for those in future sales. I also ordered the round wool cashmere jumper inkwell as I was wearing the denim colour so much. I nearly sent the inkwell back when it arrived as it was so similar to the denim in colour. However I decided that it is slightly darker and as I've worn the denim colour so much, I'm in no doubt it'll get a lot of wear. It is just so delightfully slouchy!

The little longpi tea light holders are one of my favourite sale purchases, really love them and have four in a line along my table runner on our dining table. I ordered two of the plant pots in the same clay which arrived yesterday and love them too. Great price at £8 and will be perfect for some young succulents I need to pot up in a few months.

Oh and also from the household section, the small basket weave hogla basket is earning it's keep as a kindling basket by my fire. I even enjoy popping out to fill it up. I'm sure that novelty will wear off in this cold weather very soon though.....

AFingerofFudge · 15/01/2023 15:48

@Snowyowl78 actually I'm also 5ft 3 and the leg length was perfect on me!

Snowyowl78 · 15/01/2023 15:50

@AFingerofFudge ooh perfect, thanks!

faustina · 15/01/2023 16:52

Is it my imagination, or did someone once say that Toast did a blue light discount?

Snowyowl78 · 15/01/2023 17:26

@faustina they will only give you a one off code, not a regular thing, so worth saving it for a big purchase that you’re not likely to send back

faustina · 15/01/2023 17:32

Thank you snowy. What kind of percentage is it?

Snowyowl78 · 15/01/2023 17:34

15%!

faustina · 15/01/2023 17:45

Thank you. Ds1 might have his arm gently twisted

ilovecherries · 15/01/2023 17:49

Just having a last wee browse (as you do!). I haven’t bought anything in this sale but I do keep getting drawn back to the gathered sketch leaf dress. Anyone have it? How do you style it? Am I likely to look as if I’m wearing my granny’s apron?

Snowyowl78 · 15/01/2023 17:52

@faustina you have to email them and ask for it :)

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 15/01/2023 18:38

@ilovecherries Yes, I have the sketched leaf dress. It’s quite brown, and a crepe rather than cotton. It’s also a shorter length which suited me as many of the Toast dresses come almost to my ankles.
I bought the S as the XS wasn’t available and although it’s quite loose I found it works on me as a 10 in Toast dresses.
I haven’t worn it anywhere yet as it arrived just after Christmas but for me it will work better towards spring, although I’ll probably wear it with boots to dress it down.

ScottishMouse · 15/01/2023 19:00

I found you all! I haven’t managed to catch up on the last thread but will do later.

In the meantime, I would really like to order a sweater before the sale ends. Does anyone have the Aran sweater (from last winter but still hanging about the sale)? Is it very big? Reviews suggest it might be and no size small left. I have some Toast sweaters in medium but usually the neater ones. Also, I know there has been chat about the Donegal ribbed sweater earlier, but what is sizing like on that? And what about itch level of the wool? I just returned the heathery sweater because even though I loved it, it was just too scratchy for me.

Thanks. Look forward to catching up on chat later.

Stoic123 · 15/01/2023 19:36

@ScottishMouse - I have the Aran sweater in medium (in Harvest but exactly the same style). It is oversized and I would have got a small if not sold out. It is bulky, particularly the sleeves, so you'd struggle to wear a jacket or coat over it (not that you'd need to- it is super warm).

I do still love it. The quality is superb, it smells divine and isn't itchy so is very comfortable to wear. You might have already found an old picture but I'll upload in case not.

Stoic123 · 15/01/2023 19:41

(picture on model I mean)

ScottishMouse · 15/01/2023 19:49

Thanks @Stoic123 you have saved me £140! It looks very long on the model and I am short and like to wear wide leg trousers so this would not work for me. Thanks for this.

@ScottishMouse I have both colours of the donegal, I'm a RL 12 and the medium is a roomy but not big/ baggy fit.
There was some talk about huge sleeves but they are fine.
The wool is very soft, zero itch but I'm generally fine with wool.
Personally I would always wear a layer or 3 under it anyway

ScottishMouse · 15/01/2023 19:50

Thanks @TempleofZoom , I think I might go for that one so. Now to decide which colour…

lordloveadog · 15/01/2023 20:08

@ilovecherries I have the gathered leaf dress, bought it last summer and really like it.

I normally only tolerate cotton but the crepe is ok on this one.

It's good on curves.

Actually looks quite fancy, not granny apron. I wore it for the daytime part of a rather intimidating DH work event at a flashy hotel where I had to try to look like a respectable wife of senior management among lots of very slim wives with extremely expensive handbags. And I felt I passed muster in it.

It has also been to a conference, a couple of parties and out to dinner.

I haven't found a way of wearing it with tights or anything except bare legs so it only works for me in warm weather, but that's fine.

TerrierOrTerror · 15/01/2023 20:34

Managed to pick up the Tie Neck Cord Shirt and not sure. I only tried it on briefly and the fit is good (Size 8, no gaping over bust). Sleeves are roomy and it is nice and long, but the bottom is shaped nicely.

The main issues I have are the ties aren't long enough to tie into a bow as I'd hoped, and the colour is odd. It's like a cold cream.

I have several outfits I was hoping to build it into so going to have a try on tomorrow and see if it will work with my wardrobe.

Hello, I'm a lurker on these threads as I mainly shop on eBay/Vinted BUT I do have my eye on a dress in the sale. It's still available in all sizes so seems like not many other people like it!

Can I ask the experts if prices are likely to go down any more, or will the sale stuff just disappear from the website at some point?

No, not now. Think the sale will end shortly. I've never known them to reduce more at this late stage.

Stoic123 · 16/01/2023 07:30

@Shinyredbicycle - agree with @neveradullmoment99 that not usually futher reductions.

Toast will end sale even if unsold items (will normally announce 'last few days' to get everone moving) and the dress will appear in a later sale (usually at the same price but may then get reduced in the 'futher reductions' bit of later sale).

Most things go eventually at the right price - though there is a raspberry check shirt that likes to make a regular appearance

Shinyredbicycle · 16/01/2023 07:45

Thank you!

Is reduced from £195 to £75 so a 'good bargain' but still more than I would usually spend on a dress.

Will have a think!
