Brilliant alterations @dudsville

Loving that kantha jacket on you @happysoju

Snowyowl78 · 17/01/2023 08:57

Wow @dudsville i wish I was as clever as you! Love them both.

oh dear I have succumbed to the Kantha jacket. Thanks @happysoju it looks lovely. Also also the velvet jacket, probably a terribly impractical item that will spend its life on a hanger.

dudsville · 17/01/2023 09:46

Apologies, my pic above had that line of thumbnail pics below. 👋 to anyone who identified me from that!

Countmeout · 17/01/2023 10:34

I love that jacket @happysoju . It looks great on too.

Thank you @Laska2Meryls for explaining the colour. Just debating what I should get full price from new collection and what I will hang off for hoping for sale at a later date. Useful information re the sizing too.

I just got some new stuff.

this, lovely simple indigo dress, I’m in two mind whether in will keep or not. For ref I would normally buy a toast 12 in trousers, and a 12 in dresses and possibly with an easy dress a 10. Normally a M or L in tops. This I got in a 12 and it fits. A tiny bit restricting on the arms but I think a size bigger would be too big all round.

i cannot pull this off. Shame as it’s beautiful and has a lovely gingham print on the inside which was unexpected, but it swamped me and didn’t look great.
Medium plenty big enough

This now, perfection! The answer to my jumpsuit dreams. AND easy to get on and off. I assume I should wash it first as it’s indigo.

@Snowyowl78 the jumpsuit looks amazing. Would you say it runs true to size or did you size up or down? Thanks

MiracleToast · 17/01/2023 12:09

Ooh @Snowyowl78 you got the dress and jumpsuit - so exciting! Have you taken a size up in the jumpsuit from your usual?

Snowyowl78 · 17/01/2023 12:25

@MsCFlower @MiracleToast i got a 12 and I would normally get a 12 in Toast trousers so I wouldn’t say it was smaller than normal really. It fits well. It’s pretty flexible in that you can pull the waist in more or less as you want to wear it.
I also got a 14 for size but haven’t tried it on yet, but I am guessing it’s going to be big all round.
I like that you can tie it on the front or the back and both looks good.

faustina · 17/01/2023 12:28

@Snowyowl78 - it sounds really useful that you can cinch it in with the ties, or leave it a bit looser. Would love to see pics if you can
I have never bothered to wash anything indigo first, but have seen comments that say things were ruined when they didn't, so perhaps do what they do!

@Snowyowl78 thank you! I am tempted. I usually wear a 12-14 top and a 14-16 bottom so may get the 14 to try.

Stravaig · 17/01/2023 12:56

The Kick Flare Velvet trousers just arrived, the first Toast trousers I've tried in more than a decade! Here's the info Toast no longer gives us, for size 10:
Front rise 14"
Hip/bum 21"/42"
Inside leg 26" - could let them down another 2", leaving ¾" for a skimpy hem.
They're not flares at all, 11" across hem, 12" across top thigh.

The fabric has that slightly stiff cotton velvet feel. What on earth have they done to it that demands dry cleaning? The original cotton velvet got machine washed at 40°, and wore in beautifully over time.

Not sure I'll keep them, the rise is too high for me. I like waistbands to end on the upslope of my stomach, not go all the way up and over the other side 🤣

I compared them to some old Toast trousers, and while the rise is a couple of inches higher, the dimensions are similar to these, from around 15 years ago:
Green/black herringbone wool 12
Seagreen velvet jeans 12
Blue flare cords with back X loop 12
Black wool/linen self-stripe size 10

Looks like the cut might be heading back in the right direction for me, just need the front rise a bit lower. Fingers crossed!

Stravaig · 17/01/2023 13:18

I'm on my second or third pair of all the old styles - thank god for eBay!

FiddleFigs · 17/01/2023 14:10

@Snowyowl78 - I've got my eye on the crinkle cotton shift, so I'm curious about what in particular you felt swamped you. Was it just overall too big, or too much fabric for the style? I'm a high street 12, Toast 8/10, so have no idea what size to order given the new sizing!

Snowyowl78 · 17/01/2023 14:19

@FiddleFigs i think it just didn’t suit me really, it’s very cool and I really loved the gingham on the inside and the checks on the outside. Made me look a bit frumpy really, lots of material from the bust downwards. It would be super on the right person though. I am a high street 14 and the medium fitted fine so I would probably suggest you try a Small? On the shoulders and chest is relatively fitted.

dudsville · 17/01/2023 14:25

Unsurprisingly my linen gingham dress order has been cancelled. If anyone gets this and doesn't like it i would be grateful if i could buy it off you!

On we go Toasties heading for Spring???
AFingerofFudge · 17/01/2023 15:29

I have also bought the Franca dress after the triumph of trying it on last weekend. Although the 14 fitted ok (I am a 14), I felt it was a little tight around the bust (I have a large bust) and so I opted to get the 16 as I also wanted to be able to put a top underneath it. Very pleased with my purchase, will have to save up for that jumpsuit that ties around the middle!

Laska2Meryls · 17/01/2023 18:37

Last knockings buy.. the brushed cotton linen trousers, (but I think that they may be too big ...)

lordloveadog · 17/01/2023 18:57

Last blast: ordered gingham linen dress, black wool long sleeved t, round cashmere jumper to try. The last had finally reached a price I'd contemplate paying and there was an L in stock in the truffle colour and brown actually suits me.

lordloveadog · 17/01/2023 19:31

From the new stuff I love the textured patchwork jumper, but 400 euros is just daft.

Dithering over the Franca dress. How thick is the fabric? It's lined, right?

happysoju · 18/01/2023 03:40

Thanks everyone for the lovely compliments.

@dudsville The jacket is very warm. Much thicker than I expected given the recent reviews. Almost wish it was slightly thinner so I can wear it in the evenings right now. And yes, the jacket really made my outfit yesterday quite on-the-nose toast!

@Snowyowl78 Welcome to the club! haha. It's really lovely and timeless, I don't think you'll regret it at all.
I've been eying the jumpsuit too... but worried that the waist tie and buttons combo will make bathroom breaks a tedious affair. Have you found it not to be the case?

Snowyowl78 · 18/01/2023 07:36

@happysoju looking forward to getting the jacket!
I haven’t worn the jumpsuit yet but yes the buttons will take some undoing each time. I don’t mind though, it seems much easier to get on and off than a lot of other jumpsuits I’ve tried so I’m happy

Snowyowl78 · 18/01/2023 08:39

@lordloveadog the Franca is not lined, it’s mid weight I’d say.

Countmeout · 18/01/2023 08:56

Another video today I see!

faustina · 18/01/2023 10:44

@lordloveadog did you see the post from @dudsville about that linen dress? I think it might be the same one!

lordloveadog · 18/01/2023 11:04

Thanks snowy!

Yes, same linen dress; they suddenly had an XL do I jumped on it. Don't think it has been dispatched yet tho so we will see
