OP posts:

Erborian CC cream
Aurelia Glow serum
Cheek fillers
Prai neck cream
Clinique all about eyes

Ladyofthelake53 · 01/01/2023 19:18

Forgot one Paulas Choice 2"% BHA toner

HotMessMama · 01/01/2023 19:26

Botox without a doubt. Once you start getting it done you’ll never go back!

Tear trough filler, the difference was noticeable immediately.

Is IPL done by a nurse or doctor @talkingpaperclip

Mine was done by a dermatologist (doctor). There are beauty therapists that do it, but I was very cautious about having lasers aimed at my face! The practitioner needs to select a setting strong enough to be effective but not so strong that it has negative effects, and I wanted someone who was very experienced and also fundamentally understood laser mechanics.

Thank you so much. I agree with you about ensuring it's done by a medical professional. Could I ask how much the course of treatments were if you don't mind saying?

Hi there. I want to have a course of IPL to fade a sun spot on my cheek .Not hair removal. Thanks

COSRX snail 96 and COSRX BHA liquid have really improved my skin appearance

This for me too.

Plus LVL lash lift and tint.

talkingpaperclip · 01/01/2023 19:57

Yes @Happygirl79 I did a sun spot not hair removal. Normally they sell packages (6 treatments) but I found that having one treatment and seeing how it went was more useful. For a couple spots, one treatment sorted me. In one case, I needed two. But i have classic "good IPL" skin (quite fair, with dark/black hair that is most useful if you were to do hair removal). Think I paid circa £175 per spot treatment (not whole face).

Thank you so much for sharing. It's affordable and worthwhile for me. Really appreciate your help.

Oooh this is dead good.

I swear by Botox. I'm 28 and always get told how I have great skin and I swear its because of this.

I only have a very minimal amount for my 11s (which I've had since I was born). Started when I was 26, have it done every 6-9 months. Lasts super well and eases off very subtley.

Nobody knows apart from my husband and my practitioner 😁

Emsb2022 · 01/01/2023 20:09

I used azaelic acid (never again) for risacea prone skin as had read good things about it, my skin looked qood but one morning woke up with 2 big lumps/cysts
on each cheek! One calmed down and eventually disappeared, the other left a permanent, tiny, red blotch which is really annoying me. Have used bio oil, Eucerin dermo purifier, a stick on patch with spikes for reducing redness....not there yet...any ideas?

ihatethecold · 01/01/2023 20:10

There was a report in a paper today (may be the Independent)
a beauty writer had an MRI done on her face which showed that filler never goes completely.
it can weigh the skin down eventually so a facelift is the only way to correct it.

peanutbutt · 01/01/2023 20:18

To the lady who is struggling with rosacea, simply use less. Concentrate on applying SPF religiously and use a skin barrier repair cream to effected areas. Cerave make one, Genosys make one, look to brands like Cetaphil.

BangingOn · 01/01/2023 20:24

This is a brilliant thread, I am reading all the replies avidly. Since hitting 40 I suddenly have dark, thick facial hair appearing from nowhere, causing horrid little bumps as they break through. I will research electrolysis now.

The biggest positive change to my skin has been taking Pore Favor supplements (previously Anti Acne Club). My adult cystic acne has completely cleared up.

SlipperSchlepper · 01/01/2023 20:25

eldorado02 · 01/01/2023 16:59

Electrolysis on my facial hair (thanks, PCOS). The most painful thing ever, as in tortuous, but my God, the results are astounding. I think I’m nearly done on the dark hairs, but still have lots of fair hair to go. The second worst thing to the pain is needing to grow the hairs prior to a treatment, I.E. laying off the shaving etc so the hair is visible to the practitioner.

I have PCOS and very fine blonde facial hair. I asked about laser and they told me it was pointless because hormonal hair growth as found with PCOS would likely grow back.

Have you noticed any growing back at all? How long ago did you have it done? I would love to get this done

StarCourt · 01/01/2023 21:23

def agree re Profhilo did nothing for me.
Ombre brows have finally given me the brows i wanted
tear trough filler was fab
Wish i could do something about my redness and the hard bumps that appeared overnight and never left

Havehope21 · 01/01/2023 19:10

@Tickledpickle - sounds amazing, can you explain a bit about how it works and what you receive? Is it possible to buy the products elsewhere (e.g. larger quantities instead of a monthly subscription)?

Not too sure to be honest as I just have the rolling subscription. It’s personalised skincare following a questionnaire so it isn’t available over the counter/elsewhere online. It’s incredible the difference it’s made. I don’t often notice people’s skin, but I saw a huge change in my cousins. The texture of my skin improved very quickly when using it and I’ve had none of my monthly breakouts either.

usern1272022 · 01/01/2023 22:17

Never again - Lash lift. Doesn't last long, and I find it hit and miss depending on which therapist does it.

Wowed me - Laser hair removal.

I’ve been getting it done monthly for about 14 months now, though it’ll have been two months since my last appointment when I next go. I’ve not had any regrowth on my chin or neck, which were my hairiest places in terms of dark hair. I did notice last month that the fair hairs on my cheeks looked rampant, but that may have been due to a hormonal disruption from pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage a few weeks ago; I noticed my head hair was thinner and that plus facial hair is my hormonal “tell”, IYSWIM.

BoxOfCats · 02/01/2023 08:35

Sunscreen daily - now I am in my 40s it is paying off!
Botox
IPL for hyperpigmentation

I bought a Lumea. It's been absolutely brilliant and completely got rid of all my facial dark hairs. I had quite a lot.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 02/01/2023 13:49

Worth it:
Botox - though I need it done every 4 months so the cost adds up.
Tear trough filler - makes me look more alive but I’m currently not into filler and trying to let it all wear off.
Lash lift - buuuut it makes my mascara smudge on my upper lids and the result often isn’t equal which bugs me.
Eucerin (the original one in the pot) - works on my dry and spot-prone skin like nothing else.
Microblading - life changing but pick a good PMU artist.
’Natural’ semi-permanent eyeliner - makes me look more alive without makeup.
Teeth whitening - Zoom in my case.

Not worth it:
Profhilo - did nothing immediate and I couldn’t get on board with it as a long game.
Soprano laser - I am the ideal candidate and had a shit ton of sessions on my bikini line and I still didn’t get any long lasting results (and this year absolutely everything has grown back).
Tret - my skin hates it. I’m not trying any more.
Leg electrolysis - it quickly became apparent that it was going to take 5 times longer than she’d said it would and the cost was going to end up astronomical. Everything that was removed has grown back.
Lip filler - I metabolise it sooo fast in my lips for some reason.

SlayB · 02/01/2023 13:59

Onehappymam · 01/01/2023 16:21

Micro-blading. Went to an absolute pro (her waiting list is now 18 months long!) for natural, feather strokes. Also, lash extensions - classic ones, so not overly false looking. I rarely wear make up now. Prior to these treatments my face had no definition. I look like a boiled egg in old photos!
