Please help me find a maggot coat

That's what DH calls them, what does he know...

I'm after a long, padded coat. Preferably with an oversized collar or hood. Rather not with fur trim. All the ones I've found look either really cheap school coat material, or just drab.

I'm after glam and thick and luxurious, and it's hard to find in this style of coat. Don't really want a belted one, but happy to be persuaded otherwise.

Megan McKenna had one on, in MasterChef, when they do that slow-mo walk at the beginning, in like a pinky beige, which is almost exactly what I wanted but I can't find a pic of that at all now.

Finally, don't want black. Yes to khaki, nude, grey and navy.

Pic attached is just to give a rough idea, but I think all of those are just so ...meh. The olive one at the end I like best because it's that soft feel matte fabric, which I think makes it more sumptuous, I don't want shiny.

Anyone know of anything?

Thank you! Xx

I'm not a style & beauty person, but Lands End do lots of really warm coats along those lines - might be worth a look.

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 28/12/2022 20:31

Probably not glam enough but I love this colour.

Absolutely loads on Asos. They have quite a few in their sale.

That's very on the right lines, I think I like how far apart the stitched lines are, if that makes sense. The ones with closer stitching can look a bit like padded school coats.

Love the collar on this, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

It looks above the knee though.

That Blacks one also has a beige version which I think looks nice. Agree with you about the stitching.

Didrikson Stella, the hood is dreamy. Mine is black but it comes in other colours.

I have several landsend ones, in different colors.
But they are more function than stylish brand name.

Bought this today and it's even better in the flesh.
Padded with feather and down.

Gosh you're rather good at this!

Although I think that looks awful on the model, so it's not jumping out at me.

Budget, not really set one. Nothing silly like £5k though. Up to a grand I guess, and the cheaper the better. I'm just as happy in a £70 coat as a £700.

I’m sure I saw similar in Next last week.

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 28/12/2022 21:33

I know you said no black but this feels closest to what you'd like. They have some other styles and colours so just go to the search option and put longline puffer in. Just so I don't fill up your thread with a billion links.

I’ve got a couple of lovely puffers. One is from Embassy of Bricks and Logs (a German company but some UK stockists). I’ve got this one but also really like this one and this one.

The other one I really rate is from Elvine. They sell lots of puffers

Both companies do properly warm puffers that don’t look too sporty/sensible.

Wiennetta · 28/12/2022 21:39

The Asha in Heather from Elvine is a pinky beige long coat. It’s reversible - one side is puffy.

I think I really like this one.

Why must they make their models dress like this, makes it near impossible to envisage how it would look on someone like me who is not impersonating a wool wearing gnome with trousers awaiting a flood and orthopaedic shoes.

I would have said Balenciaga or Prada but both in the £2 -£5k range these days (might be worth looking on a resale site like Vestiaire)

Random selection from Max & Co, Lululemon, Tory Burch

These are the kind of ones that I find really meh. I can't pinpoint why that is, they just look so drab.

Saw this in person in orange & it was stunning - really luxurious, can be worn open & belted also:
