That's what DH calls them, what does he know...

I'm after a long, padded coat. Preferably with an oversized collar or hood. Rather not with fur trim. All the ones I've found look either really cheap school coat material, or just drab.

I'm after glam and thick and luxurious, and it's hard to find in this style of coat. Don't really want a belted one, but happy to be persuaded otherwise.

Megan McKenna had one on, in MasterChef, when they do that slow-mo walk at the beginning, in like a pinky beige, which is almost exactly what I wanted but I can't find a pic of that at all now.

Finally, don't want black. Yes to khaki, nude, grey and navy.

Pic attached is just to give a rough idea, but I think all of those are just so ...meh. The olive one at the end I like best because it's that soft feel matte fabric, which I think makes it more sumptuous, I don't want shiny.

Anyone know of anything?

Thank you! Xx

The ones are super padded.

www.vogue.co.uk/gallery/eva-chen-technology-tips Scroll down for a glorious pink coat - the article is unfortunately from 2018 but the coat is from katsurina.com

This is A LOT like it! Didn't have a belt, and collar was more oversized. This is an 8/10 likeness, thank you xx

(Fecker's sold out though.)

@Defiantlynot41 no not Balenciaga. Have you not heard about their recent campaigns? I wouldn’t buy a single thing from them.

Utterly agree.

Vitriolinsanity · 30/12/2022 16:34

All Saints and Superdry both had really nice ones last week.

I’ve got this from hunter, it’s very cosy, you can pull the waist in on the inside so not just a bag, more waterproof than other coats. They’re very generous in size though, you need to size down. www.hunterboots.com/gb/en_gb/womens-jackets/womens-intrepid-insulated-long-puffer-coat/grey/8596?gclid=CjwKCAiAzp6eBhByEiwA_gGq5FlmvnzWVh4UwCQRKGX2ut6ZbQu8il6ZSH6r2RrGWz6H56uQbkmZmRoC03kQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

This coat is a bit pricey but my mum has one and it’s gorgeous.

No advice but love the term ‘maggot coat’ :)

SockGoddess · 19/01/2023 17:48

Mine fits your description and was from Pepe Jeans a couple of years ago. This is similar.

SockGoddess · 19/01/2023 17:49

Sorry that one is black, but it also comes in cream so proper maggot colour! Grin

LoraPiano · 19/01/2023 17:51

@TwinsAndTiramisu I have no input but ever since you posted this thread every time I see someone in such a coat I think maggot

I imagine standing still might be ok but yeah I walk to work (30 mins each way) and don’t normally get cold so these coats seem a bit much but I haven’t ever worn one to be fair.

I'm with you. If I was walking about in one of those, I'd be SWEATING. Shame as they do look lovely and cosy.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 19/01/2023 20:39

I’ve got a maggot coat and love it for school runs and dog walks. Especially when it’s freezing like now. I do like being toasty though.
