Happy New Year 🥳
I was thinking I shouldn’t be spending so much on Toast, but then I very rarely buy anything else so have decided that must be ok 😀.

OftenOrange · 01/01/2023 15:28

@dudsville , thank you for the tip , that’s what I’m going to do.
Luckily live close to 2 Toast shops , so I’m going to alternate where I take returns ; I seem to be dumping a lot of returns on them this year, though they are always charming of course…

Countmeout · 01/01/2023 16:17

Happy New Year everyone. Making no resolutions. I never manage to keep them.

Happy New Year to my fellow Toast wearers. Wondering if I could give the Toast menders the ultimate challenge of my favourite ever linen dressing gown, so well loved it's ripped in several places

Wandering completely away from Toast, this jumper from Arket is calling to me but it says Do Not Wash, which obviously will make me not buy it. Usually I can tell if something will go on a wool wash but I'm wondering if the brushed finish on the jumper would exclude it. Any ideas?

Happy new year everyone!
Having another wee sale browse as pretty much everything I ordered has gone or is going back, apart from two small hogla baskets.
I’m eyeing up the stack check jumpsuit and the cotton linen workwear shirt in olive. Has anyone tried either?
I find it hard to get on with jumpsuits as I am bigger on top than bottom so sizing is usually either just right on the bottom and then too tight on the top, or just right on the top and too big on the bottom.
I also don’t get on with high collars and the shirt looks to have one.
I should probably just close that tab and step away.

ScottishMouse · 01/01/2023 19:52

Love that Arket jumper @faustina!

OftenOrange · 01/01/2023 20:11

I left it too long ; just went to order the Peaks dress in two sizes as reviews said it was very loose , and the 6 is sold out . I’m hoping my usual 8 will be fine , I don’t like a too neat fit .
Does anyone have the dress

faustina · 01/01/2023 20:12

Isn't it great @ScottishMouse ? but not if you can only dry clean it.

faustina · 01/01/2023 20:14

@OftenOrange - that dress is a beautiful colour! Fingers crossed that it fits you. I reckon returns will start coming into stock again tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled for a 6

ScottishMouse · 01/01/2023 20:27

I never dry clean wool knitwear @faustina In fact, I never wash it at all. I just hang it outside on a cold (and preferably misty) day for a freshen up, and I sometimes use a wool spray. As far as I can tell, they smell perfectly fine. Though I rarely wear wool knitwear next to my skin and obviously wash the tshirts I wear underneath.

dudsville · 01/01/2023 21:11

The link isn't working for me @faustina , is it the thich horizontal black and white stripe one? If so a colleague has it and it is gorgeous. I would be scared to put that in a machine because it's got quite a fluffy texture and the bkack and white wool might mix. But like @ScottishMouse I also don't wash wool. Sometimes i brave it when an item is new and has a smell i don't like, but usually airing the item makes that go, and i don't wear them against my skin. Perhaps this would be a handwash item?

I have nearly bought that jumpsuit several times @ScottishMouse !

faustina · 01/01/2023 21:17

yes - the very fluffy one - and that's why I'd hesitate to wash it. I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to never wash a jumper, especially one I'd plan to live in (like this). My current home jumper (if you see what I mean) definitely needs a wash every now and then, even though I always wear a t-shirt underneath - dropping things down it, make up on the neck - that kind of thing

Countmeout · 02/01/2023 07:49

Beautiful jumper @faustina but I think it might matte if washed.
I have become more like @ScottishMouse rarely washing unless something is dropped on it . But Toast cashmere mix has washed well and I’ve just had to wash the fairisle one which seems ok. If nothing gets on them I air and rotate.

Returns are going to start filtering through soon. Who knows how long the sale lasted last January?

Saurus72 · 02/01/2023 09:10

My latest order from last year’s sale was 13 January, not sure if there will be significant additional reductions though?
This has been my most boring (restrained 🙄) sale ever I think. Just the wash bag which I used straight away when we went away for Christmas, the black boat neck black tee which I’ve worn with Toast pj bottoms and Falke cashmere tights - gorgeous. If navy versions of the tights and tee come back I’m snapping them up, they just a joy to wear.

ToastCosILoveIt · 02/01/2023 09:31

Does anyone have the Pique Bib Front Poplin Dress that is in the sale? Is it another one for sizing down in?

Snowyowl78 · 02/01/2023 09:50

I’ve managed to shrink my Turrell dress which is annoying. if anyone bought it, don’t wash it on 40! Might have to rebuy it as I really like it.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/01/2023 10:16

Oh no @Snowyowl78 do you think it’s the viscose content that’s caused it to shrink?

My latest sale order was 19th January last year, which would have meant the sale going on for quite a long time.

Snowyowl78 · 02/01/2023 11:18

@Theteapotsbrokenspout yeah it’s viscose and linen so I suppose it’s both. Sad! I checked the website and it says 30 so I’ve got no one to blame except myself! Going to iron it properly and try it on again and see if it’s salvageable or not. I feel like it’s lost its edge a bit by being smaller.

Stoic123 · 02/01/2023 11:23

@Snowyowl78 - ouch!

Hopefully you can salvage.

Snowyowl78 · 02/01/2023 11:28

I’ve also realised today is the 14th day of some of my potential returns, and it’s a bank hol and the Inpost boxes are full!

I posted a few parcels back on 22nd Dec and the Inpost tracking still says they haven’t been collected- think I’ll be waiting for some time for refunds.

has anyone had any dispatches from the 30th Dec from when the additional sale stuff went on?

Boiledeggandtoast · 02/01/2023 11:32

has anyone had any dispatches from the 30th Dec from when the additional sale stuff went on?

I ordered the collared half sleeve on the 27th and still haven't had a despatch note.

Snowyowl78 · 02/01/2023 11:38

@Boiledeggandtoast oh no, hopefully it will be on the move soon!

Noodle421 · 02/01/2023 11:40

Has anyone tried dyeing the black Ashley jeans and had success? Mine are well loved and used but faded. Extremely good condition otherwise. They could do with a refresh but it’s not something I’ve done before.

Boiledeggandtoast · 02/01/2023 11:41

Thanks Snowyowl, I hope so too! I thought I'd give it another couple of days before I contact them as I know there have been a lot of bank holidays in the last week, but it does seem rather slow, even for Toast.

TheChattyRat · 02/01/2023 11:43

Happy new year! All the sale toast things I've got in my virtual basket haven't shifted so I am hoping they may reduce further soon.
I'm quite tempted by the forest boots also @faustina
@Laska2Meryls I am also tempted by the green version of the trousers you won. Would you recommend them? Are they winter weight? Thanks!
I've also got a potential toast repair as I snagged a dress on part of a lock - it's a really raggedy tear near the pocket. Wondering if I can do it all by post as I'm not at all near any of the shops that offer repairs. Anyone have experience of this?
My sale experience has been quite restrained too only the ticking bedding and the plum check dress but I do have 500 pounds worth in my virtual basket (won't be buying it all...)
