Thanks for sharing @TangledWebofMincemeatDeception

I've no idea what has gone on with them all, but I do think that it's incredibly sad how it has all played out. Surely there would have been a better way to handle it than what has taken place.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 01/01/2023 17:53

Yes, it’s rather lacklustre. I certainly would rather be Maxima when it comes to jewellery, and personality come to think of it!

I love —my, I think? although it’s hard to keep track!— midnight tiara. But as you said, it’s a stand-alone piece.

justasking111 · 01/01/2023 18:25

Daisy spoke well. I'm sad for them

Maireas · 01/01/2023 18:50

Oh dear, that's such a sad state of affairs. I really hope that Joachim and Marie can find a way forward with Daisy. What a pity.

maybe following the example of the Swedes might have softened the blow a bit. Prince/Princess titles stop with current holders kinda thing.

you never know. J&M might go full Netflix documentary on the Royal House eek

paradyning · 01/01/2023 20:03

Ruby parure it is! Some pics here

MarshaMelrose · 01/01/2023 20:05

I always think Daisy is in danger of looking a bit washed out and I don't think that pink does anything for her, unfortunately.

paradyning · 01/01/2023 20:06

I think Benedikte looks fabulous in her red dress. Really like the fluted sleeves.

Mary's dress is a bit off. Think it's the cool tone against the rubies. Maybe she should have worn the Midnight tiara with that frock

StartupRepair · 01/01/2023 20:10

Love Benedict's tiara and would lay claim to it if it is going free. Sad for the Danes. I think Marie is making the point that she will not make the effort to leave a sick child after what has happened and fair enough.
Happy 2023 to all.

RomainingCalm · 01/01/2023 20:40

It does feel like a very sad state of affairs. There was no delay in updating the website this morning with the new titles and the wording is along the lines of 'His excellency, born Prince of Denmark' which almost rubs it in even more.

Mary's dress doesn't do much for me, I think she suits stronger colours.

I will add though that I do love the order of the elephant. If there was a spare one of those left after the banquet I'd like one please to wear for work with a plain jumper! 😁

frostyfingers · 02/01/2023 17:35

I saw Zara Tindall at Cheltenham yesterday and thought she looked great, she was certainly very jolly with lots of smiles.

TangledWebOfDeception · 02/01/2023 18:05

Back with a (slight) namechange!

Apparently Mary's gala dress was actually a pale sea-green in colour so it possibly shows up very differently in photos and might have suited her much better in person. Still think the midnight tiara would have been a nicer match.

Benedikte's beautiful deep red silk dress was the definite winner for me.

On the ex-princes/princess, lost a comment last night and didn't have the energy to re-write it. Don't want to speculate too much anyway but clearly for whatever reason it was thought that accelerated/decisive action was needed. I personally think it was a prudent decision but that it could have been enacted in a better way for the children and young adults involved.

I agree Zara looked great at the races. She looked slim and elegant in many of the photos although the one above I feel is slightly unforgiving. Beautiful colour scheme and I really like the hat and bag.

Blondbombsite · 03/01/2023 16:40

I saw some pictures on Instagram of the Wales’. I won’t attach them as they seem to have been taken when they were off duty in Sandringham. They look nicely casual, especially George who would easily be incognito (but has very cute matching trainers with William). Kate has on a lovely coat, woolly hat and scarf but I’m not much of a fan of brown and black together.

justasking111 · 03/01/2023 18:00

Saw some pics on Instagram of them at Lapland UK that was intrusive. Our media leave them alone off duty but you can't stop folks with phones taking a picture.

I think it’s actually the same picture just that mine had an incorrect caption. It’s nice to see them doing normal family things but very intrusive.

The Danes have had another NY reception. The pale dishwater colours do nothing for Mary. Like Kate, she looks so much better in deeper tones.

MotherofPearl · 04/01/2023 07:23

I agree about Mary's outfit but I love Daisy's fur-trimmed outfit.

AdaColeman · 04/01/2023 08:18

There is a very strict dress code for this Danish New Year Diplomatic Reception, and for the past twenty five years Margrethe has worn the same blue gown.

But this year she is wearing a new gown presented to her by the Association of Craftsmen in Copenhagen. Her gown is made from Satin Cuir and the shade is Bordeaux. The jacket is specially constructed with reinforcements to support the heavy weight of the decorations Margrethe will wear.

I love the deep warm Bordeaux shade of the ensemble and the fur trimmed collar, just right for an event on a chilly winter day. Margrethe's huge brooch with the enormous pearl drops is quite spectacular too!

KillingMeDeftly · 04/01/2023 14:42

Crikey, a THIRD new year's reception. The Danes love new year as much as they do Mary's birthday! She's in dark berry which is so much better on her. Daisy is wearing the same dress as she was at the previous event and her favourite fur, natch...

MarshaMelrose · 04/01/2023 14:58

Oh. A fur coat. Ugh.

MotherofPearl · 04/01/2023 15:32

Gosh, they really do love NY!

I have to admit that I don't mind the fur coat and think it's rather lovely. I don't support the production of new fur, but it seems a shame to waste existing fur pieces like these. I realise this not a popular view (and to clarify, I don't own any real fur myself!), but to me, unless you're a vegan (which I'm not) deploring fur can seem like a bit of a double standard.

I see the Monaco RF have attended the funeral of an Archbishop. Caroline and Charlene both look suitably sombre in black, with lace mantillas.

Eaumyword · 04/01/2023 15:39

Gosh the Danes are full on "party on Wayne, party on Garth"! February must be resting month 😂
CPM looks fab in that berry colour as someone said earlier - that stronger palette looks great on her. I do like a bit of cape detail too.

AdaColeman · 04/01/2023 16:25

It was Monsignor Barsi who officiated at the wedding of Charlene and Albert, so his funeral must bring back memories for them both.

paradyning · 04/01/2023 18:23

Oh I do love a mantilla. Guess we may be seeing some more this week in Rome, along with some privilege du blanc outfits

Maireas · 04/01/2023 19:08

Hasn't Francis got rid of the privilege du blanc?
We shall see! I used to have a beautiful black mantilla to wear to Mass. We had to wear them at school as well when we had Mass.
