I know last year's was a bit disappointing but I still decided to get one as theres been a few products over the last couple of years I've loved.

I don't think theres a thread for this so far, if there is please point me in the right direction.

If not then I'll kick off by saying I'm pleased with Door 1. I always like to try new cleansers and i love the eyecream from this brand.

Does anyone know what to use today's for?

Does anyone know what to use today's for?

Is it for cooking with? Confused

starlight36 · 23/12/2022 10:29

On the Holland and Barrett website today there is an article of ten things you can use coconut oil for.

Cooking is the top use but there are lots of beauty uses listed as well. Rubbing into cuticles, an intensive hard skin under socks cream and a make-up remover are a few of the suggestions.

Plump82 · 23/12/2022 10:39

I actually love putting coconut oil in my hair. I wash it, leave it wet and put the oil through it and stick it up in a bun. Strictly for days spent at home as it needs a really good wash after but leaves my hair nice and soft. So I will use it, but it's another boring item!

I use it for cooking as it doesn’t get on with my hair or skin.

KirstenBlest · 23/12/2022 13:20

I put coconut oil or castor oil on cleanish (i.e. no product or conditioner on it) dry hair leave it on overnight or for about an hour, then wash it.
I'm planning to use the little pot as lip balm.

Couperi · 23/12/2022 15:46

If this is the same type as you buy in the supermarkets I give it to my dogs. Good for their coats!

Tubbyinthehottub · 23/12/2022 16:26

I put it on my dog's paw pads or in her fur if I need to comb out a knot

ThereIbledit · 23/12/2022 22:30

I have a huge jar of this in my kitchen. Don't like it as a cosmetic, It's good for frying or roasting things. Not your Christmas dinner, because it does make things taste faintly of coconut.

I'm thoroughly unexcited by it and will probably put it in a food or beauty bank.

Zampa · 24/12/2022 08:26

I've put the coconut oil in my spice drawer due cooking with but have also used a bit as a lip balm. Has been more effective than I anticipated.

MerylSqueak · 24/12/2022 09:03

I'm not very keen on the smell of today's shower gel. I'm looking forward to tomorrow though.

ThereIbledit · 24/12/2022 15:51

I like this brand. I guess dragon fruit is the fashionable scent for things this year?

KirstenBlest · 24/12/2022 17:29

@ThereIbledit , I like the brand. Got a hand and body lotion in a previous gift pack and was sorely tempted to charity shop it, but fortunately I tried it and I love it. Their soaps are good too.
Other brands I like are Dr Organics and Ethique. They're not cheap full price, but are good value in gift packs.

Plump82 · 24/12/2022 17:33

This is a good one today. Finally something full sized. I like the smell of it as well.
Any guesses for what tomorrow's will be. I haven't a clue!

Tomorrow is a good one. Not wildly exciting but an excellent product from another brand I like.

I really liked last year's too, other than the hemp toothpaste!

I haven't tried today's yet

That bloody toothpaste 🤣 Received one in my advent calendar last year and the year before. My Sister didn’t like the sound of it so she gave me hers. It just doesn’t seem to go down does it haha

starlight36 · 25/12/2022 08:44

I am very pleased with todays. Love this brand snd is definitely something I will use. Genuinely had no idea of contents as never read the back / description of contents so when I asked for body wash, candle or body lotion I didn't know that they were all coming up!

Bumblesaurus · 25/12/2022 08:53

I'm really pleased as well. I love this range, and it's just what my winter suffering skin needs.

Plump82 · 26/12/2022 08:15

I liked yesterdays product as well and will be perfect for taking on holiday instead of after sun.

Glad I gave this years ago as there was a couple of good products but this will be the last one for for me.

I finally opened it yesterday. All items ok and some great, apart from the eye mask, which was dreadful.

purplewolfie · 26/12/2022 16:24

My top 3 (so far): The cleansing balm, the bath salts and the eye cream
Bottom 3: eye mask, brushes and coconut oil

FayCarew · 26/12/2022 16:48

Cleansing balm is good, eye cream lovely, moisturisers lovely, hyaluronic serum good, shower gel great, skin food fab. Brushes are good. Shampoo and conditioner and deodorant great. Love the pink stone. Frankinsence oil nice. Bath salts fine. Vits fine.
Not fussed about the bamboo pads, little spray, face mask or face scrub.
Would have liked the jojoba to be much bigger, and the coconut smaller but I'll decant it.

Plump82 · 27/12/2022 19:44

Was in Poundland today and saw they were selling the shower gel. Kind of sums it up for me!

This was the second year I bought the Holland and Barrett advent calendar. Last year I liked it as I got to try different products and it felt like a bit of a treat. This year not so keen. I liked the cleanser, the pip and pod exfoliator, and funnily enough the vitamins, have so idea of they will have any benefit but they taste nice. Most of the products I put in a beauty hamper for a relative for Christmas. The coconut oil was a low point as was the cleansing cloths. Just didn't feel like a special treat and agree with another poster who said it was like a very practical grocery shop which considering the price is a shame. Made a note to buy no7 one next year.

I had No.7 and H&B this year and I didn't really like the No.7 one at all. It felt very utilitarian and not exciting. I will use the small size skincare for holidays and there was a decent sized hand cream but it was all pretty meh. The few bits of make up were not colours I would use. I've enjoyed the H&B one, first time I've had it and there were some really good days (not the mask Wink).
