Thread for anyone who has the Cult Beauty 2022 advent calendar and would like to discuss contents.

In line with the waifs and strays thread I suggest no earlier than 7am for discussing that days contents?

I'm away for part of the month so might not be terribly active but we were cutting it fine for starting a thread!

One more sleep 🎄

Hi all! I’ve got the calendar too but not posted yet. I colour my hair so always looking for good treatments, masks, etc so today looks good for me. So far I’ve been happy with The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid as I’d just run out and the Augustus Bader cream. I love it after my Dermatica treatment - I wake up with such soft, smooth skin. I hate that it works so well as it is so expensive. I haven’t tried that many other products yet just the Ren eye cream which was nice and the perfume roller which smelled weird on me. I’ll try and keep up now for the final week.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 17/12/2022 10:02

I'm meh on this one too. What are you supposed to do witlh yourself for the 10 minutes? I don't mind the ones you put in pre-washing so much as I just throw a shower cap on top and get on with things but with these I just end up standing in the shower getting bored and cold. I rarely last more than a couple of minutes.

Zoetrope1 · 17/12/2022 21:58

I haven’t heard of this brand before but happy to have a hair mask

My reply has been automatically hidden 🤣 It’s just a list of all the products so far, plus prices!

I’m relieved that tomorrow is likely to be the drawer of plenty. I was pretty disappointed this morning having expected multiple items. I am with you on the hair treatment @OchonAgusOchonOh - I really cannot be bothered towel drying my hair and then waiting 10 min to wash it off. I have tons of Elasticizer lying around for that very reason!

I was really happy with the CT quad though, such pretty colours. I’ll look forward to trying it.

I think the calendar has been great so far, better than last year’s. I’ve been wearing the CEO serum followed by the Inkey List one followed by the vegan moisturiser and am pleased with the results - the creases on my forehead are definitely less visible. I’ve put a few of the other creams on the side while I use up stuff I have open.

Squishmymallow · 18/12/2022 08:34

I also think the calendar has been great so far! Not sure what to think of today’s selection though - exciting to have multiple products but I’m not sure the lipstick colour is for me and I can never apply make up on top of that primer without it pilling (any tips gratefully received!). The two highlighters look lovely though and that mascara is an HG product for me so delighted to see that in there!

Squishmymallow · 18/12/2022 08:39

Actually - very quick update - I’ve just tried the lipstick and am pleasantly surprised! I got the shade “sweet cheeks” which actually seems very wearable. Do we all have the same one?

chloechloe · 18/12/2022 09:24

Morning all. I generally get really frustrated about people moaning about AC contents but today I am that person! I’m quite disappointed with all 5 of today’s products!

2 highlighters that I probably won’t use. I don’t go “out out” much and find them a bit too much for day wear.

Primers I don’t really bother with as I prefer to concenrate on layering serums, I think the key to avoiding piling is to use less of each product you layer on?

I have the mascara already in a smaller tube and don’t find it that great but I think it’s a combo of the full sized brush in the small tube that doesn’t work.

I think I have a completely different lipstick to you all - mine is medium brown and unwearable. Which brand do you all have?

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/12/2022 09:26

@chloechloe - have you been using the Inkey List and CEO serums directly on your skin or have you been wetting your skin first?

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/12/2022 09:33

My lipstick is a light brown too. It's Huda Sweet Cheeks.

I don't really think it will do much for me.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/12/2022 09:37

@chloechloe - I have a liquid primer I got in an AC previously and, like you, figured I'd never use it. However, I saw it suggested somewhere that you could mix a few drops in with your liquid foundation. That's what I've been doing and it gives a nice glow, rather than highlighting.

The stick one will make its way to me daughter.

Jellycats4life · 18/12/2022 11:10

I only ever wear nude lipsticks (brights are a hard no!) so I’m really happy to get a lipstick I can actually wear. The packaging feels really luxe for the price point (£23) and I love the magnetic closure. It does look very brown but I know from experience a light application can look nice. Happy with that.

Wont deny I’m quite disappointed with not one but two highlighters. Would have much preferred one of them to be a blush.

Was expecting a mascara so that’s fine! Good reviews too. A primer is a bit boring but I’ll certainly use it.

All in all, not quite as exciting as I’d expected but I’m happy enough. Total value for today is £103. If MN ever approve my post above you’ll be able to see the value of all products so far. Why it got hidden I do not know.

chloechloe · 18/12/2022 11:12

Thanks for the tip @OchonAgusOchonOh I will give that a try with the highlighter. I’ve still
git two bottles from previous Lumene calendars that I will try it with first. I think I’ll collate a few bits I’m not going to use from this AC and some GWPs and just try and sell it in one go on EBay.

Regarding the serums, I’ve been putting them directly on my skin. With HA I use a hydrating toner first but haven’t bothered with these. I might try it with a toner before tomorrow to see if the results are any better.

PhillyJoe · 18/12/2022 12:53

@chloechloe I got the medium brown one too - Hustla. I’m not sure about it at all. I had a similar one from Hydra beauty in another beauty set and it was also a terrible color for me, too neutral. I already have the mascara and don’t like it as much as the Hourglass tubing mascara which is my go to. I don’t particularly like highlighters so yeah, today not great for me.

Jellycats4life · 18/12/2022 14:37

I had a look at last year’s CB thread and last year’s mega drawer had NINE products, so in comparison, five isn’t so impressive.

Hoping for no more skincare products during the final week. Or hair products! I’d love some more make up and fragrance.

rozzyraspberry · 18/12/2022 14:41

Still another Saturday before Christmas and it looks like a big drawer too 🤞

AllTheBlackCoffee · 18/12/2022 19:55

I was quite pleased with the Sunday drawer. I love Hourglass mascaras, the lippy was a good colour for me and the other bits were also nice.

Question about the CT eyeshadow palette- is it just me or does everyone end up looking like a glitter ball when using it? I've tried twice now and both times the glitter has Ended up all over my face. What am I doing wrong?

Housewife2010 · 18/12/2022 21:09

@AllTheBlackCoffee How are you applying the glittery pop shade (bottom left)? It's best to apply that with your finger on the middle of your lid.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 18/12/2022 21:26

I used a brush and was probably a bit heavy handed. I’ll try again tomorrow and see if it makes a difference. Thanks @Housewife2010

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/12/2022 21:30

@Housewife2010 I looked on the CT website and they advise using your finger for the glittery bit.

Jellycats4life · 19/12/2022 00:56

I’ve had a play around with the Roglow highlighter and actually I’m quite impressed with it. Solid packaging, and a really nice shimmer that I’m more likely to use on eyes than checks. Thumbs up!

AllTheBlackCoffee · 19/12/2022 07:30

Today's body lotion looks nice but a bit of a disappointing size. One or two applications over my ample body and this will be gone. Still I'm interested to try, as I've seem Bom Dia around and it gets good reviews. Will use it in a bit once I can get out of bed and into the shower.

I was thinking the other day about what could be to come. We've not had a cleanser or face mask yet, usually AC staples, so expecting them to pop up any day now.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 19/12/2022 07:39

I'm very happy today as I love this cream and get so many compliments from people who can smell it and assume it's perfume but never buy it as it's so expensive to get the decent sized pot.

Squishmymallow · 19/12/2022 08:26

I am a huge bom dia fan - by far the best sol de janeiro fragrance for me so I’m very happy with day 19. I always find these small pots last a while actually as you don’t need to use much.
