Cult Beauty advent thread - it's finally time!

Thread for anyone who has the Cult Beauty 2022 advent calendar and would like to discuss contents.

In line with the waifs and strays thread I suggest no earlier than 7am for discussing that days contents?

I'm away for part of the month so might not be terribly active but we were cutting it fine for starting a thread!

Reporting for duty! Hello everyone!

I’m pleased with days 1 and 2. I’m determined this year to use the products straight away - in the past I’ve always had such a stash of stuff that I often ended up putting things away rather than trying them out.

The Vit C smells and feels lovely, really pleased. Do I need to use an SPF after? It doesn’t say so but I should probably go and check.

Extra points should be given for putting shampoo and conditioner together - I hate it when they are days apart! I like the sound and smell of these, looking forward to trying them tomorrow.

Joining in a bit late. I won't be using any of the skincare products yet as I have such a stash to get through. Not sure if I'll use the shampoo and conditioner as I'm very faithful to JVN products but we'll see.

Hi Chloe, not sure about SPF but I’m trying to incorporate it more in general. I got the SR vitamin C cream a month or two ago in a Cosmetips edit. I really like it and can tell it’s going to be an ongoing product for me. It was one of the reasons I got the CB calendar. Such a difference from the Drunk Elephant Vit C serum I tried previously - which smelt so horrible I had to bin it. They have now changed the formula apparently but it’s put me off for life! Very happy with my Sunday Riley.

I think it wouldn't be disastrous not to use an spf in thr uk in Dec or Jan after vit c. But it's probably best practice. I deffo would in spring

Thanks for the SPF replies. From spring I definitely would use it. But in winter I’m a bit more relaxed especially when working. Then I’m only outside first thing in the morning when the sun is barely up so tend to give it a miss.

Love day one. My day two shampoo has leaked.

I have to say with this being my first CB calander im a bit surprised at the packaging it’s a lot more flimsy than the John Lewis calander which I didn’t expect I know it’s what’s inside that counts 🤗

Day 3 - malin & goetz perfume oil in dark rum, 9ml

I’m so intrigued by this one! I really like this, it’s an interesting scent. I’m not sure that it’s me but I’m enjoying it anyway. It’s unisex but to me it leans more masculine. I love getting perfumes in goody bags / advents!

Glad you like the Malin and Goetz dark rum Zoetrope1. I absolutely love it and it was another reason to go for the CB calendar. Malin and Goetz was the toiletries brand in a New York hotel I stayed in a few times, I discovered it there. It’s got a lot of memories for me. I brought a lot of this home in the past from those trips after accumulating all the hotel freebies and trips to the NY Malin and Goetz shops.

Last week I got a few things from Cult Beauty in the Black Friday sale - body wash and body lotion, a couple of little candles, all in dark rum and a couple of things in another scent. There’s a M and G shop in London but I haven’t been. Space NK and Liberty sell it too. Black Friday deals were best at CB when it was 25% off but then went to 30% off - I should have waited! That’s the most I’ve seen it reduced. Gosh, didn’t mean to write such and essay on this brand!!

Thanks @Barnesand2020 ! I’ve actually popped into the malin & goetz store a few times, there’s one just up the road to me. I haven’t tried their skincare but their candles and other perfumes are divine!

I can’t stop sniffing my wrist!!

I keep sniffing my wrist too. It's certainly not like my usual fragrances but I think I like it. I usually go for sweet, floral scents so it's a bit of a change but I can certainly see myself using it.

I’ve just googled, there’s 5 stores in London. I need to go! You’re right Zoe, the candles are gorgeous and I’ve never tried the skincare either. I like how they just have a few core scents and things are built around that. Hope everyone else enjoys their day 3 gift.

It's not a brand I'm familiar with but I quite like the scent. It's a bit heavier than I would normally wear but I will use it.

A light touch with this is best Ochon, in my opinion. It’s a perfume oil and very concentrated. I use a tiny dot and it lasts.

This is my third year of CB ACs and their first perfume in an AC. I've had a sample of this before and it's nice to get the full size perfume oil.

I've heard of M&G but never tried any of their products, I normally go for floral scents so this is different to anything I will have had before but always happy to give something a go!

My shampoo leaked too (it was pretty much empty) so I contacted CB and they've refunded me 10% off the calendar.

Not into today’s fragrance. I don’t mind a unisex fragrance but it’s too masculine. Gave it to my husband so he’s happy at least!

I like todays - it’s quite different to what I’d usually go so I’d never have picked it up in a shop but it’s lovely! That’s what I love about advent calendars!

I used the shampoo and conditioner this morning. I would have liked the scent to be a bit stronger but they have left my hair super shiny and got rid of product buildup.

Absolutely love the perfume. Wasn’t sure on first roll, but I love the dry down - raisiny and leathery. So unusual ❤️

I've just used them tonight and agree it would have been nice if they smelt a little stronger, my hair looks and feels good otherwise though!

Not overly thrilled with today's offering as I'm not a big user of hair masks. My hair is really fine and can go a bit limp with too much conditioner so it's not something I use very often. That said, it's not the biggest pot so I'll probably get through it eventually and in the spirt of trying the calendar, I'll give it a go next time I wash my hair.

I did use the shampoo and conditioner yesterday and thought they were good. I also wore the perfume when I went out last night and kept getting wafts of myself which was nice.

Hopefully that will be it for haircare products now, it's not really my thing.
