Any interest in a opening/review thread?

I tend to open early.
No photos until after 0700?

I’m not wildly excited by today’s offering but will give it a go. Like the sound of blurring effects. Definitely need that at my age! I don’t tend to wear make up very often these days so it will last a while. It may replace my ancient Bobbi Brown powder.

Lookingformymarbles · 02/12/2022 08:33

I'm not sure about today's item either-I've stopped using powder on my face as it tends to settle in my 'fine lines & wrinkles! Oh the joys of being 50 ish

Will check out some reviews before I decide and see what you all say

Stokey · 02/12/2022 08:49

Also one of the drawers of disappointment for me. I already have a barely used one of these hanging around from a previous advent calendar. This may be one to sell or gift.

wondabar · 02/12/2022 09:34

I am having trouble getting o to today's offering, quite literally! Does anyone have tips of how to open it and will I find the velour puff in there?

Dailymash · 02/12/2022 09:49

“Drawers of Disappointment” @Stokey that should be used from now on! 😂

I’m not too fussed with this. I occasionally wear a powder foundation - does this have the same effect?

The bigger version is currently £28.90 for 29g so we’ll say this 9.3g pot is worth £9. Taking the running total to £37.

FaoinDrualus · 02/12/2022 10:59

I'm not sure about this either. I haven't used face powder in quite a few years, as like with a PP, I found it settled in fine lines and did nothing for me.
It also says to use a velour puff to apply it - I don't have one of those and have no intention of buying one for something I might not like. I assume a brush would do the same job? Considering just putting it aside to give to my sister.

Lookingformymarbles · 02/12/2022 11:04

I wonder if the velour puff will be revealed another day? That would definitely be a drawer of disappointment for me!

PomRuns · 02/12/2022 11:28

Surely we won't get a velour puff drawer - that would be shameful!

We need a wow drawer tomorrow.

I usually use a big brush to apply powder but having read the instructions now, I think I might try using a reuasble make up pad? Not quite velour but not far off!
It is slightly annoying that they've not included something that you need to use the product

Roundaboot · 02/12/2022 11:53

I'd like a good smelling drawer tomorrow - some fragrance, or shower gel or candle.

Nuffaluff · 02/12/2022 12:23

I like this. I’ve put it on this morning and been for a job interview. Hopefully it will help me get the job!

Nuffaluff · 02/12/2022 12:24

Loving the running total @Dailymash thank you.

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 02/12/2022 12:43

I’m dubious about the powder. I tend towards glowy skin, not matt, cause I’m getting older. Does this really work miracles and blur, or would I look like I had an accident in the cake factory?

Dailymash · 02/12/2022 12:54

Good luck with the interview @Nuffaluff

I’m going out tonight but have plenty of time between getting home and going out so I’m going to try the powder before my shower then it can be washed off if I don’t like it. I will report back!

wondabar · 02/12/2022 13:10

How do you open it? I've tried a knife and scissors and it won't budge!

Nuffaluff · 02/12/2022 13:11

Thanks @Dailymash

It went well, I think.

I didn’t put much on and it looks fine. I’m just going to use it on my T-zone and avoid my wrinkles. I don’t get very shiny anymore now I’m mid-forties (yikes - how did that happen?).

moimichme · 02/12/2022 13:30

I've just found this thread, exciting! 😊

I'm happy with both drawers so far. I've just finished a hair primer and am curious about the Olaplex (will try it at the wknd for a pamper session). The powder is fine but I take ages to use up things like this.

Pleased overall so far, and it's nice to have something to look forward to on these colder December mornings.

Giftwithpurchase · 02/12/2022 14:07

I'm a fan of the powder. Already have the special edition extra large size which I use daily so this will be good for travel. Those worried about the puff you don't need to use this (I don't) it's a faff and a brush gives better results (imo). Just use a small amount on t zone and is very effective. Not detectable at all. Very much a step up from high street powders I think.

Giftwithpurchase · 02/12/2022 14:09

Also pleased with olaplex. For what it's worth I put it straight on to dry hair, don't bother washing first and I'll often leave it on all night - works well for my highlighted hair!

Adventadventures · 02/12/2022 16:51

Pleased with the powder just tried it using a brush and liked it . Great size for travel too

Dailymash · 02/12/2022 17:22

I like the powder! Applied it with a brush. I’m often a bit shiny and it has made me more matt.

@wondabar you don’t take the whole top off, just peel the sticker off and access the powder through the little holes.

mangoforbreakfast · 02/12/2022 19:01

Late opening for me as away with work. I’m really pleased, I already use the “glow version” and really rate it and so it’s good to have a smaller version for travelling.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 02/12/2022 20:21

There are a lot of disappointed people on this thread, which is disappointing 😅I was quite excited by the first two products. I've never wanted to pay what Olaplex charges, so nice to try it. I hadn't checked the price before I used a good bit of the bottle slathering my hair with it 😲I read up on it that the results are better when hair is sprayed with Olaplex No 1, however I can report the softest hair, a bit like a hair mask I already use, but I'm happy with it.

I'm also liking the translucent powder, I used it with a brush. It's a good quality brand and a good size too.

Lemonademoney · 02/12/2022 20:51

Ooh joining as this is my 3rd (possibly 4th) JL advent and I’ve always liked them. I loved day one as I’ve fancied trying Olaplex for ages. Wasn’t as impressed with todays offering but imagine I will dip into it if I’m off somewhere nice

Stoic123 · 02/12/2022 21:10

@Lookingformymarbles - thanks for the Olaplex tip. Much less faff spraying to dampen hair before applying. I just tied damp hair into top knot while I did some housework and then washed out.

Hair looked good today.
