*by all accounts.

No more multi-tasking for me!

frugalkitty · 27/11/2022 20:10

Well, if Edward gets a different dukedom and Wessex is going spare, and as I've bagged Osbourne House as my royal home, I'm going to lay claim to the completely made up title of ' the Duchess of Wessex and Wight' if no one minds?

Maireas · 27/11/2022 20:15

Fantastic idea, @frugalkitty !
I personally have recently acquired the title of Grand Duchess of Schleswig Holstein Sonderberg Glucksberg. It actually makes me directly related to the royals, as that was Philip's house.
Bit of a bugger on forms, though.

[Grin] oh my goodness we could have a lot of fun with this...

Just to get Christmas started I bring you a wreath making tutorial from the Royal household florists.
I love making a wreath every year but I think they can best be described as "rustic" so when I saw this last Christmas I promised myself I would try to produce something more professional this year following their method. I have a twig ring that comes out every year and just wrap stuff around it, but I think making little sprigs will work better, and maybe moss to start with.

My local stately home also has some wreath making tutorials, with mulled wine and mince pies thrown in but at £60 it's a bit much for me, I'd want to invite a friend too. I'm sure it would be a real treat though.

Also, as I scrolled through the Royal Family Instagram to find it, I noticed how many events are covered by the various members. The slimmed down family will be very busy...

HMQ could have done it in the last year or so but I can understand she didn't want it done in her lifetime.

She couldn't grant it because Charles became Duke of Edinburgh on his father's death. It merged with the crown when Charles became king, so he can now grant it in a new creation.

One thing I wonder, what do people in Scotland think about Edward being Duke of Edinburgh? That might come into it. The King could make Edward Duke of Wessex or of somewhere else.

I think you're right that it may be that the King is conscious of Scottish politics on this issue, especially at the moment when the independence question is quite sensitive. After all, there's been a fair bit of push back in Wakes about William and Kate becoming Prince and Princess of Wales.

frugalkitty · 27/11/2022 20:47

Maireas I like it.....also a bugger to have to spell over the phone I'd assume.

Edward and Sophie got the ugliest house, Wessex no longer exists, one little tiara. They've been at the bottom of the pecking order for some reason I can't fathom.

Sophie has three tiaras, but to be fair none of them are particularly beautiful. Still, “My diamond tiara isn’t very pretty” wouldn’t be a great look 😂

I always thought that Elizabeth held the royal jewels pretty close to her chest, which seemed a very personal decision. Anne did the best, having worn at least five from the family vaults (she was given one as well). But the married-ins had far less access - Diana only wore the Lover’s Knot - I guess she would have had access to another if she hadn’t had access to the Spencer tiara? - and Sarah was given one, but that was it. Even Camilla’s came from the Queen Mother’s collection rather than the Queen’s. So three for Sophie could be interpreted as a mark of favour. Ditto Catherine, with three.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/11/2022 21:30

I wouldn't mind being given a house as ugly as the Wessexes'!

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 27/11/2022 22:20

120 rooms, worth £30 million. I could put up with it if I had to. Wink

justasking111 · 27/11/2022 23:03

I think Anne has the best home. Not too big with room for the horses.

justasking111 · 27/11/2022 23:05

Charles has too many homes, palaces and castles now. I wonder if they'll become tourist attractions

AdaColeman · 27/11/2022 23:45

Several of the properties that Charles used, were purchased through the Duchy of Cornwall, for instance Llwynymermod (hope I've spelt that correctly) and Highgrove. So they have now passed on to William as the new Duke of Cornwall.
Charles will rent Highgrove from the D of C, perhaps Wills will use the Welsh property in his new role as Prince of Wales.

A few of Zara down under. Including one very casual one...

And a headshot of EBG and SWP (I think those are the right acronyms??)

Queen Margrethe was guest of honour at the premier of The Nutcracker (for which she did the scenography/costume design). Queen Sonja also attended at Daisy’s invitation but I’ve not found a photo yet.

Fred and Mary were there as well, with Vincent and Josephine.

Josephine looks very like SWP's daughter. And so it continues to the next generation!

Maireas · 28/11/2022 13:19

Daisy doesn't disappoint with that vivid red skirt! She's such a creative person and I'm glad she's still involved in production design.

Kate and William fly out to Boston on Wednesday. There is a big (and apparently very glitzy) awards ceremony/dinner so fingers crossed for another Bond dress moment.

Serenster · 28/11/2022 14:14

Given the Earthshot purpose I am pretty sure that Kate will be re-wearing a gown for the awards - perhaps her green one from the Caribbean tour? Or her green sequinned evening dress from the Pakistan trip?

I think you're right Serenster although I've thought that several times already this year and been very wrong. The green one from the Pakistan tour would get my vote.

themessygarden · 28/11/2022 17:21

Oh, I hope she goes for full out glam in a new gown, at least one gown.

Letizia in a leather top and checked trousers, I really like the colour of her coat. She wears a lot of that shade and wears it well.

OP posts:
MotherofPearl · 28/11/2022 18:02

The resemblance between EBG and SWP is really very striking.

I absolutely love Leti's red Hugo Boss coat! I'm less keen on her leather top, but I guess if anyone can wear a leather top it's Letizia.

Look forward to photos of the Wales's Boston trip. I think a rewear sounds like a good call.

MotherofPearl · 28/11/2022 18:04

Max, sporting a ginormous brooch. She looks great overall though I'm not sure about gloves with that sleeve length - looks a bit odd to me.
