Hi @frillseeking
Another fan of what you are doing to help us!
I'm looking I think for a casual blazer /jackets
Back in the twenty teens I used to wear blazers but now I try them on again they are too short, fitted and smart looking. Even a couple of tweed ones look wrong. I used to love a velvet one too.
Im 5 foot 5, size 8 bottom, 12 top. Wide shoulders long torso, 32f boobs. Flat tummy.
Looking to wear casually with jersey slim flare dark trousers and trainers /converse or possibly cargos?
Any suggestions?
Budget is lower end high street.
Thank you 😁

@frillseeking you have helped me before ( Me+Em leather skirt and top) but reading about the jackets for spring has given me another question please!
Inspired by the tweed jackets (absolutely love the mango one!) I remembered I have a version of this one from the white company which i absolutely loved when I bought it ( years ago!) but have rarely worn - could I somehow style it to fit with this more current look?

@alpacamaraca yes footwear is going to be difficult. I'd go for a very low block heel or a flat dressy sandal type. I've attached two styles for you. What are you thinking dress wise? I love this Nobody's Child dress if you're thinking florals

Thanks @frillseeking I love those flat sandals and would definitely get wear out of them afterwards.

I look the maxi skirt look with boxy t shirt top but I don't think I can pull it off with my figure.

Colour wise I love the coral that seems to be around this season, think I suit stronger colours (tend to go for pink, red, green etc) and suit navy over black imo.

Always up for a bit a subtle sparkle... hence me loving those sandals!

frillseeking · 23/02/2023 19:15

@Shinyandnew2022 yes you can definitely update the styling to make the jacket look current. I think the first time around, the look was skinny jeans and ballet flats whereas this time, go for a looser fitting bottom to make it look more relaxed. I've attached some images for inspo. Love it styled with the brogue too.

I also think as your jacket is quite plain and simple, a brooch would be a nice addition (love Ysl and Loewe).

@frillseeking do you have any suggestions for plain casual single breasted jackets?

Thanks so much @frillseeking I will give it a go - mind you all this makes me want to do is buy news jeans and some brogues whereas I really should try to 'shop my wardrobe ' !
Love the brooch idea too
This thread is gold

Bonnylassie · 23/02/2023 23:54

@frillseeking thank you I especially love the pink jacket.

Vohgue · 24/02/2023 06:41

Any great v-neck or scoop neck jumpers you've seen about?

And boxy black 1/2 or 3/4 sleeve tops without a puff sleeve?

Thank you!

frillseeking · 24/02/2023 14:48

@Rollerbird do you like anything like the attached styles? The bomber is huge this season and is a great casual option. I have a similar style to the khaki quilted one and find it really handy and wear all the time

@alpacamaraca I just came across this dress from phase eight which is styled with very similar sandals and has a lovely metallic thread running through it. It is a very flattering shape and has the lovely ruched sleeve detail and high low hem

@Sooverthemill that's an exciting weekend away! Have a fab time.

A lot of the sale bargains have been snapped up but I love this Reiss coat linkk* here. This would great dressed up for evening with heels and a dress but would equally look really cool with jeans and trainers. Love that high/low look which is perfect for Paris. If budget allows there are some great pieces from Sandro, Me and Em and jigsaw but these are around the £300 mark.

If you're looking to spend a little less, Zara and H&M have some great options. Images attached.

In terms of trainers, I'd go for a classic veja pump as I think they just go with everything and always look smart. Or if you want something more trendy then you can't go wrong with the adidas samba style which I've mentioned on here before.

Just to say thank you, I’ve just worn the Reiss coat recommended here for the first time and I’m absolutely in love with it!

Anonymouslyposting · 24/02/2023 15:34

@frillseeking any recommendations for a really good leather jacket that’ll last? Black, probably biker style though I’m open to others. I’d prefer under £500 but open to being flexible for the right item. I’m a size 8/10 and 5ft8 if that makes a difference.

Trying to build a more classic, quality wardrobe and cant work out which jackets are good and will last.

minidancer · 24/02/2023 16:33

I've had my all saints one years and they still have the same style in

MsMilly · 24/02/2023 17:28

@frillseeking this thread is amazing. I can’t believe I’ve only just found it, I’ve just bought the mango tweed jacket you recommended earlier. Do you have any suggestions for sandals? I really love the A.Emery ones but they are rather expensive and I’m not sure I can quite justify it. Thank you 😊

Comefromaway · 24/02/2023 17:36

I’ve recently gone up a clothes size to a 14 so I have nothing that fits so I need a whole new wardrobe. However on top a lot of 14s are too big on the shoulders but a 12 gapes at the boobs. I’m a definite 14 on the bottom.

I’m 5 foot 3 with a flabby tummy.

What do I buy & from where?

Mountainormolehills · 24/02/2023 19:14

@frillseeking I would love an online personal styling session - but a that something that you offer? TIA

frillseeking · 24/02/2023 19:59

@Anonymouslyposting so pleased to hear you love the coat! ❤️ Reiss are actually very good for leather jackets too but @minidancer is right, All Saints are probably the best on the high street at that kind of price point. The Balfern is their best selling style that they repeat every year and it's priced at just over £300 so within budget 👍🏻

@frillseeking @minidancer thank you both - off to do some more shopping!

frillseeking · 24/02/2023 20:39

@CertainUncertain personally I am a little unsure. Is it a leather jacket specifically that you're after? You said the current boxy, oversized styles don't work for you, probably because they drown you as you've got a petite frame? I like the shape of the jacket you're looking at as it's got the soft peplum.
