Any suggestions for a christening? Thanks

AdmiralButterfly · 03/11/2022 18:21

@frillseeking pretty formal. An industry wide awards ceremony and I am presenting an award. Posh hotel with dinner etc

frillseeking · 04/11/2022 08:25

@AdmiralButterfly I'd suggest something like this lovely, elegant style. The pleating will hide the tummy area and you mention you are smaller on top so you can get away with this lovely wrap over style.

@FireandBrimstone keep them for walking the dog or doing jobs!

Knee high boots and jeans are an autumn/winter staple so you can definitely wear this season. If you are in the market for a new pair, go for more of a riding boot style to be on trend like these Arket ones.

I've got a pair of black dr martens, I don't feel like I'm cool enough for them but I just love them. What sort of things should I wear with them?

SunlightThroughTrees · 04/11/2022 11:27

Thank you so much for doing this! Can you suggest flat work shoes or boots that would be suitable for, ahem, cankles? To wear with both dresses and trousers in an office.

Bluedoritos · 04/11/2022 11:35

I was also going to ask about what footwear to wear with wider legged trousers or jeans! (I have very short legs and only 5ft1 so I definitely need to add height) thanks!

frillseeking · 04/11/2022 12:25

@FeralWitch good question. I think it's definitely easier to wear for daytime. See images attached. Love how these are both styled with flat boots. If you're feeling fashion forward, try the loafer trend which is huge for this season. For evening, I'd go for an embellished flat. Something like this style from zara to elevate the look and with a pointed toe to elongate the part of your leg you can still see as a midi with flats can be tricky https://www.zara.com/gb/en/share/-p12573010.html?utmcampaign=productShare&utmmmedium=mobilesharinggiOS&utmsource=reddsocialmovil&v1=222158779

frillseeking · 04/11/2022 17:07

@HadEnoughOfBears it's v difficult to find inspo for this as all the shops seem to pair wide legs with strappy sandals or trainers but I've attached some images to demonstrate how a loafer or flat shoe can work. Just make sure the hem of the trouser finishes so that you're not trailing them on the ground.

If you can wear a low heel, the simple sock boot style creates a beautiful silhouette underneath a wide leg trouser as image attached

Looking for the perfect longish lined blazer. I'm 5,9. Assuming I'm not making a style faux pas by wanting one, where might I find one with a budget up to £100? To go over Bretons or dresses

frillseeking · 02/11/2022 19:57

Top trends:

Draping details
Velvet
Teddy fabrics/shearling
Fuschia pink
Leather
Mini or maxi length
Suiting
Corsetry details

People often worry about following trends but you can take the idea and adapt it into your wardrobe without looking like a fashion victim. Think of a nod and a wink rather than head to toe.

Am feeling very positive about getting a pair of leather trousers again but I am struggling to find any. I have found ankle grazers which at 5ft 3 look awful on me. And most mainstream retailers are only doing plastic rather than leather which I think won't be pleasant. Any ideas? I'm think straight ish as I used to wear in the late 90s?

ConkerBonkers · 04/11/2022 17:37

What shoes would you pair with this dress? I'm not great with big heels, but boots might not look right. For Xmas party. I think the dress is a little bit like the vampires wife.

Are teddy/fur coats out of fashion now?

Massive in New York last week

frillseeking · 04/11/2022 18:08

@ShesThunderstorms doc martens are such a classic style that can be worn in so many ways- don't be scared! These looks could apply to any of the flat lace up boot styles around this season.

@Moltenpink difficult to advise without any more info but for a christening, I'd suggest an elegant midi dress.

This is a lovely event dress in several prints and colours. www.mintvelvet.co.uk/products/jenna-floral-bias-midi-dress could be dressed up or down and looks great with boots if it's a winter event

I personally wore this myleene klass at next dress for an event recently with cream boots and received so many compliments. It's such a lovely shape when on the body, I'd really recommend.
