I am thinking of ordering it. Would be my first order from Boden

Thanks :)

As it’s cord, I think it will be very hard to wear to be honest and look remotely decent.

Hoppinggreen · 13/10/2022 08:31

Don’t like it

ClaudineClare · 13/10/2022 08:36

I think if you are slim with small boobs it will look quite good, but if not it may look on the frumpy side. I would look like a sack of spuds tied in the middle!

HaveringWavering · 13/10/2022 08:39

Agree. I like the latter and texture but don't think it will work on anyone above a size 10.

SpanishSteps123Ole · 13/10/2022 08:39

No don't like it. So not worth £90. I'm not sure what body shape it would suit. A pear with great legs maybe? straight up and down with good legs? Apple? It's very boxy and stiff fabric. Do you see how the chest/neck area doesn't sit flat flush against the model's chest? It would drive me mad the way there is stiff fabric standing there around my neck. Smocking around the cuffs would be itchy wrists for me and a pain to roll up when you need to wash your hands.
The belt is so low quality. I would look like a tied up sack of potatoes.

The only way I might wear it is if it's the navy dress version, with big collar (either those mock shirts with nice collars or collar necklace) so that the neckline changes and I would remove the belt but I think it would still look like a mini dress version of pilgrim/puritan dresses. I don't like the trend of toddler style/little girl dresses (you know the type with matching diapers covering frilly pants?) on grown women.

😂😂😂 Uh, you're harsh. You properly put me off the dress.

I’ll go against the grain here and say I like it. I agree the belt doesn’t have enough structure, but the dress has a waist seam and enough darts to keep its shape - I wonder if it might look better without the belt in fact. The shoulders are nicely shaped too.

In terms of the cord and how stiff it is, you’ll only know by ordering it. Needlecord can be very soft - just depends on how much they’ve invested in good fabrics. I find that is a complete lottery with Boden and totally unrelated to price. I bought an amazing, full skirted, smocked linen maxi dress this summer that is amazing quality with deep, double-turned hems. But I also sent some t-shirts back that we’re like rags. All were fairly pricey and only the dress was worth the £££

DSGR · 13/10/2022 11:16

I love it! Boden gets a lot of hate on MN but I always find the quality really good

TheLassWiADelicateAir · 13/10/2022 13:11

The belt makes it look like a sack of potatoes. It might be better without it.

I don't like the print- I can't decide if it's animal print (which I really don't like) or flowers , which are fine, but flowers which can be mistaken for animal print isn't.

I don't like the length, but it might look better with opaque tights.

LadyKenya · 13/10/2022 13:15

I really like it.

Badger1970 · 13/10/2022 13:18

Cord will soften with washing. In fact, it's one of those fabrics that improves with it.

LuciferRising · 13/10/2022 13:20

I like the style but not that print. Being short, these type of dresses suit me.

DrinkFeckGirls · 13/10/2022 13:38

The problem as I see it with this dress, is that the cut and style is more suited to a cotton jersey/viscose material because it needs to drape. Cord is the wrong material for this type of dress.

oreosoreosoreos · 13/10/2022 13:45

At the risk of all of S&B telling me how unstylish I am, I have a similar one and love it - it’s the same pattern but different fabric, and has a v neck, but the same style overall. I love it, and wear it with brown knit tights, chunky cream combat boots and a chunky cropped cardi.

I’m a size 10/12 with relatively long legs if that helps! 😁

SalviaOfficinalis · 13/10/2022 13:48

Hard to tell.. if the material is too thick it might look really bulky on anyone above size 8.
Can’t decide if I like the pattern or not.
If you do order it please show us a pic to see what it’s like in real life!

Ruthietuthie · 13/10/2022 13:51

Boden dresses tend to be very high waisted (and I say this as someone who has quite a short upper body, proportionally) and therefore I end up looking a bit frumpy but also a bit little girly. That said, I do like cord, and I do like the print (although I couldn't wear it), so try it and see. It could really suit you.

DottieGinger · 13/10/2022 13:52

I don’t dislike the style but the material puts me off

redredwineub40 · 13/10/2022 13:54

I've ordered and returned this - I love a boden cord dress and have several in the cupboard from previous seasons. This just did nothing for me, it was where the belt hit and the cut and it being a bit too short - I'm a 14, boden usually suits my grumpy self down to the ground!

MiniTheMinx · 13/10/2022 13:56

I love it, but only in navy.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 13/10/2022 14:34

All of it is awful.

SallyWD · 13/10/2022 14:46

I love it. I'd wear it with black tights and boots in the autumn/winter.

HotChocolateWithMarshmallows · 13/10/2022 14:54

I think it depends on your age also - could look frumpy!

redredwineub40 · 13/10/2022 14:55

Yes I'm mid 40s and it definitely took a turn into frumpsville for me.

SiobhanSharpe · 13/10/2022 14:56

Too short for the style, it looks unbalanced.

sonsmum · 13/10/2022 15:08

I like it!
Team with thick tights and knee high boots!
Agree the style is possibly better suited to those with slim figures and long legs.
