Seems like sizing variation is not that rare- thanks everyone.

Seems like sizing variation is not that rare- thanks everyone.

But late to the party but my Loden Gabis are smaller than all the others, they fit really nicely.
Having had a huff over the grey Donegal Sweater price I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and am sitting here admiring my gorgeous skeins of Donegal wool €57 for a sweaters worth.
Im really hankering for some thick jersey wide legs having seen the toast ones.
Has anyone spotted any?
Have looked at Hush, Seasalt etc but they are all thin jersey.
Its glorious here, Ive opened all the windows, DH grumbled so I opened a few more !

Stoic123 · 09/10/2022 15:13

@TempleofZoom - I've got these JL ones and really like them. Only in navy and black though. If your size is not in stock, they usually come bck in.

Thank you @Stoic123
Those are too short on me

Stoic123 · 09/10/2022 15:46

@TempleofZoom - you have been searching wide and far 😀.

I will post again if come across any. I've had good luck with M&S long length in the past.

Yes @Stoic123 Grin
I would snap up the right ones.
In fact hush have the perfect ones but Im not keen on sparkly stripes down the leg.

faustina · 09/10/2022 20:09

@TempleofZoom - have you tried looking on Me and M for your trousers? They're quite expensive but they're always very long (I know because I am too short for anything they make)

Secondly, I've also been thinking about a Toast jumper and sighing over the prices. The cos one went back because it's really too big and just didn't do anything for me. I saw this company on Instagram - not sure if I'll order because they might be a bit long, but they're very reasonably priced (proportionately) and I messaged them and they assure me no duties or taxes would apply. I'm looking for something navy, but they also have beautiful colours:

@faustina
Yes I looked and then looked away as the herringbone ones I liked are £185 Blush
Thank you though.
Ive actually ordered 2 pairs of black french terry ones from Converse.
They have a seam down the front so hoping they keep their shape.

TempleofZoom · 10/10/2022 20:02

They arrived and they are perfect.
Not sure why they are called French terry but they are actually like the loop back jersey toast ones.
Heavy cotton with a soft, thick lining.
Fitted waist,no bulk around the tummy, long length and pockets Smile
£60 on the website but I got them for £47.

faustina · 10/10/2022 20:11

oh good. I think French Terry is American for sweatshirting material?

I have placed an order with that Irish knitwear company! They will make adjustments to anything they sell, and any part of it, for no extra charge, so I've ordered a navy donegal jumper with long arms, in a big size, but made it much shorter. I got all my favourite jumpers out on the bed from toast and Brora and measured them all to get the right length and width.

It will take a day to make and is an extremely reasonable price for a proper 100% wool jumper. It's a bit of a gamble, but I'm quite excited now!

Stoic123 · 10/10/2022 20:31

@faustina - they look lovely. Do let us know what it's like when it arrives.

faustina · 10/10/2022 20:35

I will definitely! the colours are beautiful aren't they?

Stoic123 · 10/10/2022 21:24

They are. The meadow and yellow ones (which, alas, won't suit me) look stunning.

I am eyeing up the blue ones but will wait to hear how you get on.

faustina · 10/10/2022 21:48

I was really torn between the navy and the mid blue, but I have this thing about navy at the moment. I know it could all work out wrong, but worth a try! Will take pics when it arrives

Thats sounds great @faustina
Let us know how it turns out.
I googled and French terry is in fact the same as loop back jersey -duh!
I thought it was a flat terry.
Alls well that ends well as they are perfect and not £155

Snowyowl78 · 11/10/2022 09:07

@TempleofZoom i like the sound of your converse trousers, could I have a link? Thanks!!!

AmethystMoonShine · 11/10/2022 10:32

Love those Donegal jumpers @faustina the colours are stunning. Please do share how your order turns out, it sounds very promising 🤞🏼

AFingerofFudge · 13/10/2022 18:10

Reviving the thread only to say that I'm meeting a friend in London tomorrow and she is also a Toast fan so we'll be having coffee and then hot-footing it into a Toast store, am very excited!

If anyone has any requests in shape/feel/colour of anything then let me know.

faustina · 13/10/2022 19:39

I went to my local Toast today. It was odd - Cambridge was looking quite sad and empty - lots and lots of empty shops, and I went into Toast and it was CRAMMED (for Toast). They had some new things there which I don't think I've seen online - some velvet, a pair of small check alix in a wool mix perhaps? I also tried on the indigo cotton jumper and it was lovely - so if my donegal experiment turns into a massive fail I think that might be my next purchase (once I've ebayed enough to justify). Enjoy your day @AFingerofFudge !

Laska2Meryls · 13/10/2022 20:20

I think all high streets are looking like that now @faustina ... Edinburgh was a bit the same, - despite tourists- but there were a few people in Toast .. ( perhaps the more wealthy type,of which I am certainly not).. Winchester was pretty busy when we were last there on our way home from our recent trip , but I don't know if many people were buying.. Lots of sales on ! I think that the High street is struggling like it never has before 😞

OP posts:
faustina · 13/10/2022 20:35

I think it's struggling too Laska - that's why I was so surprised at how many people were in Toast. they even had a second changing room opened which I have never seen before!

TheChattyRat · 13/10/2022 20:36

Oooh @AFingerofFudge I have a request for you please! If you see
this shirt dress
Could you let me know what colour it is? As it looks brown on screen but the colour is called deep plum.
Enjoy your trip!
Did you like anything else @faustina ?
I've made an unseasonal toast purchase as lusted after the fracap ola sandals for ages but they were always oos in my size until the other day. It's a bit silly as I wont wear them till next summer but I haven't seen any fisherman sandals I like as much.
I also bought some of the herringbone socks...

faustina · 13/10/2022 20:44

@TheChattyRat - I meant o buy some socks but forgot! The sandals will be a lovely thing to look forward to for you - that's a good idea!

They had some nice silk things too that I think had just arrived as they were being steamed - in a brass-dish colour (like the alixes from the summer)

I was on a very boring trainer hunt so just stroked a few things and tried on the jumper (and trainers). It was quite crowded!

faustina · 13/10/2022 20:45

not brass dish. brass - ish

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/10/2022 21:07

They’re really nice sandals @TheChattyRat which colour did you get?

I'm still dithering over the Fracap hiker boots. I packed them up to go back once but then received an unexpected bonus and have unpacked them and tried them on again.
In the meantime I’ve bought some Scarpa boots on Vinted for dog walking, so even less reason to keep the Fracap (apart from their loveliness Grin ).
