Not sure what thread number we are up to here but ALL ABOARD if you get JOY from buying and trying beauty products!!!

We sometimes enable but we also share out thoughts, support one another and generally share our love of beauty consumerism!

@OchonAgusOchonOh that is brilliant

Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄🎅🎁

My year-end results are as follows:

In 2022 I’ve purchased 43 products (36 full-size products and 7 travel sizes) in total, and received 1 full-size product, 2 deluxe samples and 6 foil sachets as GWP 🛒 I’ve also bought 6 items for my tools and accessories stash. My total spending in 2022 amounted to £413.52 which makes 2022 the year when I’ve spent the least amount of money on the S&B products since I started my expense tracking back in 2018 (I spent £1,217.03 in 2018, £1,622.75 in 2019, £754.13 in 2020, and £675.84 in 2021).

Also, in 2022 I’ve finished 70 products (32 full-size products (this number includes 2 packs of nose strips (6 strips in each one)), 2 deluxe samples and 36 foil sachets). 64% of those products expired before I used them up, 83% contained potentially harmful chemicals, and 64% were cruelty-free. I’ve also used up 7 perfume samples and 4 beauty tools/accessories. The total cost of those 81 items was £566.79.

I’m happy with my progress – as planned, I’ve used up 50% of my samples stash. In addition to this, out of 70 categories of the S&B products that I own, 12 of them are now reduced to ONE item 🥳 However, only four of these 70 categories have zero expired products.

Please share your 2022 results!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Amazing results @CherryMargo and I am in awe of your tracking!

I do not really track my stash but can say that it has definitely reduced in size. I buy with purpose now & because I only got one Advent this year (which I have mainly used along the way) it has not suddenly grown. I have two full skincare ranges in my stash, ready for me to try out and review on my channel. I still bulk buy things like hair dye as it is often way cheaper to do that way.

I am certainly getting better at using things up - although I still have some really old opened things (mainly hair stuff).

I have been way more adventurous with my shampoo and conditioner choices this year and I plan to continue trying out different products, including higher end. That said, yesterday I washed my hair at my mums and used some Faith in Nature bodywash as there was no shampoo in the bathroom (my mum is like the opposite of me) and my hair was lovely!!! 🤣🤣🤣

This year I also tried out at home dying of my eyebrows - wow! Super easy, way affordable and have now found a really quick way to also touch up (head of) hair regrowth!!!

2022 also saw me FINALLY visit Ulta Beauty! Basically this is enough of a reason to move to the USA on a permanent basis!!!

I have greatly enjoyed this thread - LONG MAY IT LIVE!

Thank you all so much for your company throughout the year 😘😘😘

PS I regifted two of the Nivea lip balms as stocking presents as well as a Tisserand stress roll on thing that has been lurking for ages!

Well done @CherryMargo What an improvement! Mine just hit the fan spectacularly, but a lot was gifts and spending gift vouchers doesn’t count, does it? I cashed in a heap of Sephora vouchers that were about to expire and a Christmas present voucher from the family and managed to get a Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette I would never, ever, ever in my right mind have justified. It’s very pretty though, and dare I say it - useful. Wouldn’t dare travel with it though.

Experiment627 · 26/12/2022 10:14

@Fraaahnces please may we have a photo of the non-counting palette?

I have an empty:

  • Urban Decay all nightsr setting spray (trial size): have to apply mascara after applying but think that says more about the mascara than the spray

I joined the thread quite recently so don't have a proper round up for the year, but I had made a really good dent in my stash this year until December Blush between black Friday sales, my advent and Christmas gifts my stash has gotten a bit overwhelming again - although lots of lovely things I'm looking forward to trying!
Next year I'd like to find haircare products (shampoo and conditioner especially) that I love. I've been putting off trying higher end ones but now that I won't need much skincare or makeup for a long time it's maybe a good time to try some out!

A few more empties to report too:
Beauty Pie 'Happy Face' moisturiser - Loved this, really liked the gel texture. Will probably repurchase when I need more.
Beauty Pie Japanfusion bioceramide moisture mask - this was a GWP, I wouldn't have purchased myself but I'm glad I got it as I really love it (as did my skin). Will definitely repurchase.
Beauty Pie Super Retinol face serum - I like this and have used a few bottles now, but won't repurchase again as I've moved onto the booster treatment which I prefer.
Nivea soft moisturising cream I love Nivea so enjoyed this, a handy size to pop in my handbag.

@Experiment627
Does Ulta deliver to the UK ?
I visited an Ulta in Manhatten last summer.
I prefer Sephora.

Experiment627 · 26/12/2022 12:15

Couple more empties:

  • Boots No7 cleansing balm for dry skin: probably the best No7 item I have used but still I prefer the Superdrug B. one.
  • Nivea soft refreshingly soft moisturising cream: from advent - 75ml. Too lightweight for hand cream but fine as body and I used on face a couple of times and it did not fall off
OP posts:
Experiment627 · 26/12/2022 12:18

@LadyEloise1 I have no idea if they deliver to Blighty... probably best not to check. It has been so long since I have been to a Sephora I cannot compare.

Merry Christmas all.

Super impressed with your round up @CherryMargo
Vouchers definitely don't count @Fraaahnces and lovely palette.
You are on a role @Experiment627 so many empties.

Molton Brown milk musk - was ok, there are other fragrances I prefer
Neals Yard protect and defend hand cream. Liked a lot, lovely fragrance and very effective.
Neom overnight cream 10ml sample. Did not sink in (same as the day cream). My skin consequently quite tight. I would not recommend any of the face creams although I love the other products from this brand.
Clinique Moisture surge - was fine
Living proof Styling cream. Was ok - not a repurchase.

141/140
24 samples.

I am going to post try and track my purchases for the year next.

@CherryMargo that is incredible record keeping, very impressive.

I have counted and listed everything, and the grand total is 288 items. Just wondering how much of an impression I will make on that lot in 2023. I am absolutely determined not to buy anything unless no others in stash. I have listed everything from one litre bottles of shower gel to sachets and samples. The sheer amount of stuff is ridiculous, and it was definitely not helped by buying two Advent Calendars whilst I was in England in November.

Happy 2023 everyone.😁

MidnightMeltdown · 28/12/2022 01:29

Well done @CherryMargo that's amazing! I'm particularly impressed with how much you've cut your spending.

I haven't kept track of my spending, but I probably should next year. I think that I wasn't doing too badly - until advent calendar season. There were just so many great deals on cut price advent calendars that I had no intention of buying, but somehow ended up with anyway Blush. As a result, I now have a ridiculous number of products to get through. I definitely won't need to buy anything at all for at least 6 months (although I said that last year, and then along came the JL beauty event...). Perhaps keeping track of purchases will make me more mindful.

I've used 128 products this year which I'm quite happy with. This means that I'm using up more than 10 products a month on average which seems a lot! Some were travel sizes though.

MidnightMeltdown · 28/12/2022 01:32

What are the potentially harmful chemicals that you're looking out for @CherryMargo?

Thank you @Deathraystare Smile

ElinorDashwood68 · 28/12/2022 16:39

Please can I join in?!

I'm determined to use up my stash in 2023 and not adding to it.

I'm only allowing myself to buy my Dermatica prescription which is every couple of months and Blistex lip relief cream, plus I have a Sephora monthly subscription box that was gifted to me which ends in October

Experiment627 · 28/12/2022 20:30

Well I got some lovely things for Christmas this year and my pledge is to use and enjoy them all, no more saving for 'best' and letting them expire. Although 5 bottles of perfume is going to be a challenge!
