Boots Hyaluronic acid - seems much the same as the Inkey List one I normally use. I will rp

No 7 lift and luminate serum. I have been using this for years. I have another one to go in my stash but will move on to the older person one after that

The ordinary niacanimide. I don't think this did much

@OchonAgusOchonOh yes I have that Ordinary Niacimide but don't reckon much to it tbh.

Forgot The Inkey List retinol - this was in a lucky dip £5 bag from work and I liked it - I think it only costs about £10 so I might rp.

Fraaahnces · 17/11/2022 23:47

@OchonAgusOchonOh The Ordinary Niacinamide Powder is brilliant. I add it to any hyaluronic acid serum - or anything I want. It lasts forever and you can bump it up or use less as required. Niacinamide is a great ingredient and it affects people differently. (I make a v strong mask when my skin is congested but I wash it off, then apply as normal.)

I might give that a go then.

Just plop it into the palm of your hand then add the serum and mix with your finger. It only takes a second or two to dissolve. 1/4 - 1/2 a scoop is more than enough to cover from boobs to forehead and it’s not at all gritty.

MorrisZapp · 18/11/2022 23:55

I found KMS (where have they been?) Moist Repair shampoo in TK Maxx, bloody love it and am now trying the whole range.

Maybelline Lifter Gloss in silk, lovely rosy nude lip gloss for blondes and everyone.

I stayed strong and didn't get the Lumene advent calendar this year, and am instead hoovering up more targeted 'bundles' on ebay. All of their Nordic C range is just delightful.

MorrisZapp · 18/11/2022 23:58

declutteringmymind · 05/11/2022 13:46

A few empties:

Reincarnation hair mask. It does make hair heavy and swishy but I've got a litre of nioxin to finish.

Body shop liquid peel : amazing at sloughing off layers of dead skin and crud. Have RP'd

Numerous radox bath foams and shower gels.

Is it the Christophe Robin reincarnation mask you mean? It's a great product but dear lord the fragrance! Makes me think of an elderly society matron in a New York apartment, sitting amongst her furs with a dubonnet.

That sounds easy. I would have expected it to be more of a faff.

Also powering through for advent.

Garnier Intensive 7 day lotion. The most effective lotion and always seems to be on offer. I'd be devastated if it as discontinued <must buy 20 back up bottles>

QMS lip line corrector. I used as a serum. Was fine. Not worth the price tag imo.

Origins GinZing eye cream. Love this brightens and de puffs,

Molton Brown Orange and Bergamot. Lovely fragranced shower gel.

MZ Skin eye masks. last one in my stash. Not keen, does not do much,

Ren youth serum was just a 5ml sample so not idea if good or not,

125/140
15 samples

MZ skin you say 🤔

Experiment627 · 20/11/2022 16:18

Oooo I want that powder @Fraaahnces! Sounds amazeballs!

I put nose strips on my forehead, nose and chin and got loads of gunk out... who knew I would still be dealing with blackheads at 48!!!

I have my Nivea advent ready for 1 December! I am actually really excited about it and it was way cheaper than what I usually spend.

@MorrisZapp I have the Garnier body lotion (red bottle right?) in my stash and will breakout just as soon as I finish using up the Atrixo hand cream as a body cream.

I have a few more empties:

  • Aldi Lacura deodorant: purchased in Spain, really nice but have not found in Blighty
  • Plantur 39 conditioner: was not a massive fan of the conditioner although shampoo (which I am still using up) definitely helps with hair loss
  • Murad aha/bha exfoliating cleanser: absolutely love this stuff... not sure how I will survive without it 😨
  • USRX pro stength super C brightening serum: this reminds me of that brownish/red stuff they put on your skin to sterilise it... have used other acids that have been way better
  • The Edinburgh natural skincare company: Luxury No1 solid hand cream bar. I started this off ages ago and then out to one side as I found too greasy for my hands. Recently I have been using on my feet - and then putting socks on top. Has actually helped with my dry skin but it has gone all "crunchy" so I am chucking (although will keep the tin)

Wildsmith copper peptide cream. Liked a lot. Would consider rp.

Perricone eye cream. Was fine.

134/140
20 samples

Gearing up for my 2 advents. Hope everyone well.

@Experiment627

Vit C that has turned brown has oxidised and will no longer be effective. You might have left that one too long!

Experiment627 · 29/11/2022 13:41

@MidnightMeltdown oh man! But I only bought it in June! And it was used within days of opening...

I have a few more empties:

  • Plantur 39 for coloured and stressed hair: this definitely reduced hair loss. However, as time has gone on I have liked it less... feel my scalp has got more sensitive. I am taking a break with some Aldi Lacura cheap as chips stuff.
  • The Ordinary AHA & BHA peeling solution: some lovely person on here (sorry I forget who!) recommended using for less that the instructed 10 minutes and this has been such good advice! I would use for maybe 2-3 minutes then wash off. Still stings like a MF but less than originally.
  • Primark PS... Beauty Wonderlash mascara: best Primark mascara I have tried so far. Did not dry out and was easy to apply.

I cannot wait for Thursday to make a start on my Nivea advent!

Baylis & Harding 'The fuzzy duck' bath fizzers - was gifted these, wouldn't RP as didn't like the smell.

Cien Pro Vitamin shampoo - quite liked this but wouldn't RP as I didn't like the conditioner and I like to have a set.

Rituals The Ritual of Karma after sun cooling gel - loved the smell, did have a cooling effect. Used this while abroad, wouldn't RP as not necessary for Scotland living Grin

The body shop camomile cleansing butter - got this in last years AC.. put off using it as I didn't rate the eye make up remover from the same range but I actually loved this. Would RP.

Starskin dreamkiss lip mask - did nothing and prevented me from drinking my wine in the bath. Would not RP. (It was part its expiry though).

The Somerset toiletry Co spearmint & rosemary bath salts - got gifted these last year, not a bath Salt fan so took a while to bother using them. They didn't convert me.

Glad to get a few things out of the way as I have the LiB advent arriving soon which I'm really looking forward to.

MidnightMeltdown · 29/11/2022 22:42

That's annoying @Experiment627 ☹️. Vit C is often unstable and can oxidise easily though.

I realised that I accidentally posted the same empty twice(!) so I'm offering you another one in compensation

Susanne Kaufmann Pollution Skin Defence System - this is amazing! My skin has never looked as glowing as it did after using the vit C in this. It's too expensive to buy regularly, but I may rp for a special occasion.

Fraaahnces · 29/11/2022 23:49

@Experiment627 I had that experience with the La Roche Posay Vit C serum. (Twice. What an idiot.) Very D. Trump. Too expensive for that kind of result. Prefer the Ordinary powder one. (Like the Niacinamide powder.)

MidnightMeltdown · 30/11/2022 23:58

3 more empties:

123) Alterego silver maintain conditioner - I use this between hair appointments to stop my balayage turning brassy. It's very pigmented and works well but it makes a huge mess in the bathroom!

124) Espa toner - I'm terrible at remembering to use sprays and toners. I've had this on the go for years! It is nice and refreshing when I actually remember to use it!

125) Christophe Robin hair mask - really like this. Have repurchased

Total for the year 125/125!

Target met! 🥳 🎉 🎊

Still time to squeeze in a few more this year, but I feel a slightly more justified in opening my big fat pile of advent calendars now!!

@MidnightMeltdown 🎉🎊👏🍾🍾🍾🥂🥂🥂
Well done!!!

*My self-justification knows no bounds. Have been shopping sales to prepare for next year’s very, very strict no buy. Will be doing a cull and writing a very thorough inventory.
**Still need moisturiser to replace napalm experience. Have just been using Vaseline (slugging) and it’s too hot and humid to be doing that atm.

MidnightMeltdown · 01/12/2022 00:27

Thank you! @Fraaahnces 😊

There have been lots of discounts and deals on beauty advents this year and I am definitely guilty of overindulging!! I don't think that I will need to buy anything next year, except possibly a couple of cleansers.

Mind you, I said that last year, and then along came the John Lewis beauty event... 🙈

Experiment627 · 01/12/2022 06:24

Well done @MidnightMeltdown !!! Wow 125 products used up!

Now that I have my channel I actually feel far less guilt about my addiction... I also pass on loads more stuff. That said every month this year (or pretty much) I have switched up my routine and for these last few weeks of the year I am looking forward to going "free style".

I also get great joy from buying others skincare - so I have created a routine for my nephew (he is 17) and have bought every item I put in the routine.

Only 24 days until Christmas- happy adventing everyone!

Well done @MidnightMeltdown

Happy advent all.

@Experiment627 this thread is so useful. It’s really helped me get into the mindset to use things and not buy needlessly.

Fraaahnces · 01/12/2022 10:35

I have suddenly emptied a few necessaries… First, Kracie “The Premium” Shampoo & Conditioner (or as they call it, Treatment) Extra Damage Care. These were giant 480ml bottles that I blind-bought and have absolutely loved. Kracie is to Shiseido what L’Oreal is to Lancôme. Same company, same umbrella, same labs. This shampoo smelled divine and lasted for ages just over five months!!! It worked better for me than any expensive salon one has ever done because it treated my hair and didn’t weigh it down. I noticed that I needed to wash my hair less often as a result of using this!!! Unfortunately when I went to buy some more, they were out. The same woman recommended another she thinks I will love even more and the bottles are even bigger 680mls. (Smells even better too!) Fingers crossed!
Ran out of my staple Curel foaming cleanser. I could have purchased more, but am working on another Japanese one made with Sake ferment filtrate. (Hatomugi). It’s nice, but not as rich-feeling. Not drying though.
My usual tubing mascara (I wear this to work) seems to have sold out everywhere. I’m not prepared to spend big, and mine is dryer than Tutankhamen’s earlobes. I bought a Japanese one from the brand Canmake in Milk Brown for a change. (I’m blonde, and it’s very much a milk chocolate colour. I think it’s an interesting look. Maybe it needs eyeshadow….)
Also by Kracie, a bottle of Mineral Eau Marine eye & lip makeup remover. This is bloody marvellous stuff. I have sensitive eyes and it doesn’t sting and doesn’t require rubbing. Big bottle - 250ml. I’ve had it for about a year and that’s how long it says it lasts before it goes manky, so that worked out well. I think it cost about $7aud, so about £3. Bargain when you think I’ve used it most days.

Two Bath & Bodyworks mini hand gels. Peach Bellini and Aloe and Cucumber. I love these wee things. I always have one on my belt at work. (One of my jobs is a first aid officer and you’d be amazed at the number of eejits who think I’m there to take their glass. I back off like they’re holding a loaded gun atm due to the number of gastric viruses going around.)

I can't say I wasn't warned about the stupid Frank's coffee scrub but I used it anyway.
It wins crap product of the year. The mess was unreal and I'll be removing coffee grounds from nooks and crannies on myself and the bathroom for days. I only used a small handful and it went EVERYWHERE.
Bin it.

Agree. It's awful. I passed mine on to dd and warned her it is only for use in her student flat
