Love the adidas trainers @Cardigansalltheway . I've received similar from Boden and trying to decide on them. I have 7 pairs of 501s and can highly recommend. TTS in my experience. I also have many pairs of ribcage ankle which are also fab. I often get from eBay and from la redoute in their seasonal promotions. Levi do good offers too. I have all colours!

Softpebbles · 08/09/2022 11:31

My latest ones have been from Very. 501’s for £44?

I too have rib cage and some of the taper leg 501’s but they feel too short for winter!

Cardigansalltheway · 08/09/2022 12:49

Thanks @Sooverthemill and @Softpebbles that has helped to focus my mind 😁! I don't think anyone ever has regretted getting a pair of Levi's and @Sooverthemill I do love the Adidas - I think the dark soles will make them a perfect pair of trainers for autumn/winter and they have a lovely retro vibe.

Softpebbles · 08/09/2022 17:09

@happytobemrsg can you link to the cream jumper. I have searched the Zara website and can’t find it 🤦‍♀️

WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood · 08/09/2022 17:50

@Softpebbles I think it’s this one, @happytobemrsg feel
free to tell me I’m wrong!

Sickoffamilydrama · 08/09/2022 20:30

@faffadoodledo try Ecco is love my chunky loafers from there.

Sorry to hear that @Sooverthemill

The sezanne jumper looks beautiful but is making me itch just thinking about it!

I would be considered enormous in Japan, I always remember my sister in law's family came over from Sardinia, a few years ago, a lot of the women are very petite (there's apparently a shortness gene been studied on the island) even my DD who were at primary school were taller than some of them. They called us Valkyries

Two coats today one for being smart and one for the school run.
Coat Rains
Jacket Mint Velvet
Shirt La Redoute
Jeans Next
Boots Ecco

I like the idea of open back jumpers @OublietteBravo & yes you’re right - it’s like an inverted jumper!! Maybe I should give them a go (that Sezanne one is calling me).

Yep that’s my Zara jumper @Softpebbles

In my sheer panic I went to Zara at lunch to try to find something to wear for the big work lunch tomorrow. It was such a stressy shop! I ended up buying a dress for tomorrow & a black satin shirt for a different work event next week. Will take pics as I wear them!

Whilst running about like a headless chicken on my lunch breach I went into Mango & tried on this dress. I really liked it but it was way too small on me. What do you guys think of it?

Cardigansalltheway · 09/09/2022 08:17

@Sickoffamilydrama a coat! I don't think we've seen one on here for months! Love your green trousers.

@happytobemrsg I'm a bit unsure about that Mango dress, although I'm also not sure whether it's the miserable looking model putting me off! Your Zara zebra print dress on the other hand is 😍.

Sooverthemill · 09/09/2022 08:49

Gosh what a day yesterday was!

@Cardigansalltheway are the adidas trainers comfortable? And TTS?
wearing new Sézane trousers which I love, tried them with about 10 different tops and shoes so they seem to be a good buy and today it’s rainy and much milder
tee: Sézane via ebay
trousers: Sézane
sandals: Birkenstock

@Sooverthemill not bought them yet but purchasing next week so will report back! Love your outfit today.

Having seen the thread on whether to wear black today was really uncertain about what to wear to the office. Given that I've not worn black for family bereavements recently, it felt a bit melodramatic to wear head to foot black now (particularly as I don't usually wear a lot of it). But equally didn't want to offend anyone so went for a halfway compromise. The whole wearing black debate appears to have been restricted to mumsnetters though as everyone on the train and at work was/is dressed normally so relieved I didn't go for the whole hog, would have felt a bit silly!

Top: Zara
Jeans: LK Bennett

Hmm I see what you mean @Cardigansalltheway The dress did look nicer in person though.

LOVE your outfit today @Sooverthemill

Wearing my new dress today! For what was essentially the clothes version of Supermarket Sweep I’m pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. I prefer it with the shirt which is good - it means I’ll wear it more as it gets colder.

Dress - Zara
Leather shirt - M&S
Boots - M&S
Belt - Gucci

@happytobemrsg sorry it was the cream knitted jumper I can my find. I think from your in person shop!

@Sooverthemill I love those trousers on you.

I’ve a black spotty dress on as I didn’t know what was appropriate, my DH put a dark coloured top on and that made me think.

Sooverthemill · 09/09/2022 10:29

Thank you @happytobemrsg I think that going in fast and making quick decisions on clothes often works out well!
@Cardigansalltheway ah okay. Re : clothing today, my DH has hold of the official guidance on protocol until end of mourning ( this is for civil servants and people in government departments, he's senior NHS)

"Dress
39. Civil Servants and Ministers involved in ceremonial or other public facing events during this period should wear appropriate mourning dress. This includes:
● dark coat, lounge suit with black tie, or dark suit/day dress; a dark hat and gloves are optional.
40. All other Civil Servants should wear their normal business attire, but should be mindful that this is a period of national mourning and dress accordingly. Particular care should be taken by those working in roles that interact directly with the public and those in offices close to the location of ceremonial events."

WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood · 09/09/2022 10:49

@happytobemrsg love love love that Zebra dress!
Looking at the Zara striped jumper online it looks very cream, but in your pic it looks much whiter, would you say it’s a white?

@Sooverthemill thanks for sharing, interesting to see what the official guidance is.

@Softpebbles sorry for confusing things about the Zara jumper, I’ll back out now 🙈

WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood · 09/09/2022 12:04

Pleased with today’s Vinted arrivals :)

I attempted to crop most of the background mess out of the photos 😂

Vertical stripe (shoulder on or off): Mint Velvet
Horizontal stripe: Boden

Today I had the pleasure to hold an online mtg with our American partners at 5 a.m. in the morning. Definitely not fun to wake up at 4ish a.m., but at least I could finish my job at 2 p.m. and go dancing.
I was thinking of going out wearing my dance skirt like I used to do in the past, but it looked terrible with trainers so I had to put shorts on and take skirt with me to change later. Recently I've been getting a bit tired of feeling pressured to wear all the tops tucked in since all bottoms are so high-waisted, so I just put my t-shirt over my shorts, but it looks so unflattering. Anyway, I still wouldn't tuck the top in and went out just like this. Surprised nobody called the fashion police!Grin

@WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood don’t be daft, thank you for looking X

faffadoodledo · 09/09/2022 14:35

@WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood
Love me a stripe! Especially a Breton. But vertical stripes are rare aren't they? I like yours!
Little imagination today - head to ankle in Me&Em which my shorter friends say doesn't work for them at all. I'm 5'9 and find the fit pretty good.
I'm not normally a pink person but i like the slightly puffy sleeves on this sweatshirt
Birkies on feet.

Welcome @Sunsea21 I find this a lovely thread for reminding me to prioritise myself a bit but without any judgement or pressure to dress a certain way. Fab skirt, I love the print.

@toucaninjapan the colours in that cardigan are so pretty 😍

@happytobemrsg the zebra dress is great and @WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood I love both your tops. I think I'm a stripe addict 😆

Yesterday I was in the office - trousers from white company via charity and top from Hobbs. Relaxed day off today - harems from hush and (striped!) top from Boden

EllaPaella · 09/09/2022 18:42

@Cardigansalltheway sorry for the delay in reply. My pale Levi's are 501's straight leg - cropped. I got them I think two years ago, I'm not sure if they are on the website anymore.

Welcome @Sunsea21 👋

I haven't contributed much as I've been at work all week so nothing interesting worn. Also weird in between weather where it's too warm for boots and jumpers but mild and wet so no good for sandals and short sleeve tops or dresses with bare legs. It's barely stopped raining for last two weeks! I don't feel very creative in my clothes choices at the moment. Loving all your outfits.. very inspiring.

EllaPaella · 09/09/2022 18:50

I did try a knitted dress on in M&S. I think with knee high boots it would work but it's not for me. A bit too 'officey'. And as with all knitted dresses it's very unforgiving over lumps and bumps! I saw some lovely oatmeal coloured ones in H&M which would be lovely as more casual wear but I am on a no-spend anyway so didn't bother trying.
I have always been a standard size 10 in high street shops but over this summer I seem to have become a 12, I haven't put on weight but maybe my shape is changing. I'm not at all bothered what size clothing I wear I just find it curious. Both Fatface and M&S - everything in a 10 is now far too small.
Anyway.. here's the dress
