@toucaninjapan I guess in a country where women tend to be petite diets and attitudes are different from the west? Likewise the makeover styles. I’m 5’1 and every extra pound really shows on my body ( like now when I’m definitely above my happy weight)
@Sickoffamilydrama so glad she’s better! I always worried so much ( still so)

@happytobemrsg great trousers!
@OublietteBravo I like the dungarees but you have lots, they are the palest I’ve seen on you so may be worth keeping?

so it rained. A great deal. Still hot. We are having our house valued this afternoon!

top: Sézane via eBay
shorts: agolde
sandals: Birkenstock Eva

@Sooverthemill - I didn’t notice the rain, although the travel news this morning was talking about flooded roads. The light colour was what attracted me to the dungarees. Perhaps I’ll try them on once more before they get packed up to go back.

@toucaninjapan - that is a strange makeover. I’m sure that Japan is culturally quite different. But even here, there is a tendency to assume that women should dress quite conservatively once they hit their 40s. The “mutton dressed as lamb” trope is definitely still out there, isn’t it? Which never seems to apply to men - regardless of how they dress.

Starting off in a jumper - there is definitely that autumnal chill in the air this morning.

Jumper: Jigsaw
Dress: Warehouse
Shoes: Clarks

@OublietteBravo another one full of dungarees love here. Dungarees/jumpsuits etc just don’t suit me at all, I’m the wrong shape, so I love seeing them on people who really suit the shape!

@Sooverthemill lovely top; I’ve just bought a Sezane top on Vinted which is a new foray for me, I’ll see how I get on…

@toucaninjapan completely agree, I think the more fitted style of the original outfits is much more flattering. Interesting to see how differently clothes and styles are viewed in different countries!

No photo here today. I did take one as I find it helps me pay attention to my outfit (as mentioned before), and even just deciding to tuck my blouse in today after standing properly in front of the mirror has made a difference to how I feel. But I think you’ve all seen most of my clothes now 😂

happytobemrsg · 07/09/2022 10:13

@toucaninjapan I definitely prefer the “before” photos. I’m mid 30s & have 2 children & I’ve only just now started to get the confidence to wear what I want. I definitely wouldn’t want to be hiding myself away in baggy clothes.

Wearing one of the jumpers I kept from my haul yesterday. Always a good sign when you want to wear something straight away. It’s lovely & drapey in real life. I think it looks more expensive than it was.

Jumper - Zara
Jeans - H&M
Trainers - Mint Velvet

Today I’m also wearing a trench coat I bought YEARS ago & forgot I had. Also you can’t see them but I’m wearing some super amazing soft gold large studs from Cos.

Feeling a it low in confidence in work today so I’m hoping my new jumper will perk me up. Thinking about doing a bit of in person shopping at lunch.

Wearing a new Vinted purchase today. Will put my converse high tops on I think or flatform sandals. Leaving the house for the first time today post op (other than doctors!). Only being driven for a coffee. Hopefully my tummy won’t swell too much before we go!

My new Ariat boots arrived and I love them. Also had two jumpers from St Berts as I wanted some colour. Again I love them.

Hopefully the Levi’s that arrive today will be right 🤞🏻

Ps ignore the boxes. We recently moved 🤦‍♀️

WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood · 07/09/2022 11:42

@Softpebbles gorgeous boots, hope you enjoy your outing!

@happytobemrsg love the jumper, am now hunting the Zara website 😂

toucaninjapan · 07/09/2022 12:32

Yes @happytobemrsg I also hate the idea of having to "hide" your body as if it's something to be ashamed of! Of course if you feel like wearing something voluminous and flowy, that's a totally different story, but hiding? Nope!
Btw that's a lovely jumper and it really suits you!

@OublietteBravo I'm sooooo jealous of your autumnal weather (and of those shoes)! Autumn is my favorite time of the year and I can't wait for it to come here!

Please let me proudfully present my new canvas tote bag that I ordered several weeks ago on Etsy and which has finally made its way to my home. I find it rather cute and can't wait to use it for grocery shopping/ going dancing (my dancing shoes in their bag should fit nicely inside). All the tote bags I currently own have been presents from MIL, and while being lovely, most of them clash with my outfits, so I'm really glad about getting this one!
Top & shorts - Joules

Okay so I've seen an IRL photo of that Sezane jumper I was mentioning earlier. These colors are GORGEOUS, so tempting 😫🫣

Working from home and like others struggling with what to wear in this "in between" weather. So pleased with this cardigan which was bought earlier this summer and has been worn dozens of times (and sincerely regretting not having bought the black version when it was available).

Top: Mango
Cardigan: Fat Face
Jeans: Zara

@toucaninjapan while I think that the lady in the photos doesn't necessarily look slimmer in the 'make over' outfits (because she is incredibly slim anyway) - I personally prefer the silhouette of the 'made over' outfits. They look far more balanced to me - giving a nicer silhouette. Interesting.
Am shocked to see weight loss being encouraged though in the second post - the model looks very slim and petite to begin with.

I see everyone else thinks the opposite Grin Just goes to show we all see things completely differently.

Thanks @toucaninjapan ! I also LOVE the colours in that jumper. However, I struggle with the idea of knitwear that by design doesn’t keep me warm. Like a jumper with short sleeves or the beautiful Sezanne jumper which has an open back. I’ll just never wear it!

Love your trousers @WestrayWife ! Are they a recent buy?

I had a MUCH better shopping experience today. I went to Zara at lunch (I promise I’m not advertising them, they just opened a big one near my office 😂). They didn’t have all of the sizes I needed but I was able to try my size in other colour ways. So half my shopping was bought in store, the other half bought on my phone whilst in the queue 😅

Created a little collage of photos to show what I bought. I like how they all mix & match. I’m very pleased 😄

@happytobemrsg love your buys, especially the jeans! The second ones are such an interesting color, is that a mix of pink and yellow? Or is it more on the pink side? I've noticed this autumn there are lots of pastel colors.

I've tried on items from my last Sezane order and I love everything. Now I just need right weather to wear any of these. The sweatshirt is extremely comfy and don't you think that the combination of stripes with red color just screams "I'm tres Parisienne"? Grin

Thanks @EllaPaella - they have loads of different colours and I'm tempted to go back for a red one.

@happytobemrsg they are from last year I'm afraid. A £10 sale bargain if I remember correctly.

@toucaninjapan beautiful haul - I think @Sooverthemill has a similar sweatshirt?

Todays it's:

Blouse : M&S
Trousers : Boden Richmond 7/8
Shoes : Boden

@WestrayWife yes I have the navy version, which I love and feel is a classic.
@happytobemrsg excellent Zara shopping, I’d wear all of those!
@toucaninjapan good chouces, the dress isn’t Sézane is it?
@EllaPaella i think I agree with you about the silhouette I prefer some of the after looks but don’t think they make the model look slimmer which was the question. I hate ‘how to look slimmer’ stuff tbh.

we are still warm here so im
in shorts. Was thinking about a dress but for running up and down stairs they aren’t so practical
Am pissed off as my referral to gastro consultant can’t be fulfilled due to lack of consultants! Am especially unwell this week and it’s not fair! Moan over
tee: Sézane via eBay earlier this year
shorts: agolde
sandals: Birkenstock

@toucaninjapan that cardigan is AMAZING! LOVE! The jeans are a beige but not block colour. They look much nicer in real life. I’ve been hesitant about lighter jeans in autumn because I only have black biker boots to wear with them but I think with the black belt as well it’ll work ok.

@Sooverthemill sorry you’re not feeling well. Gastro stuff is horrible. I suffer with IBS but I think it’s triggered by my anxiety- just like it triggers the globus in my throat. I had 2 weeks off work recently, ate lots of new foods & was intentionally mindful- my stomach was much better.

I have a big work lunch thing tomorrow. It’s at a super trendy place I’ve never heard of (but all the 20-somethings have 🙄). Dress code is smart/casual & it’s going to be raining. I have absolutely no idea what to wear. The stress of it is actually causing the aforementioned IBS to flair up 😔 which will just make me bloated. Apparently a super famous person (again, never heard of them) was turned away for being too casual. Do I go to Zara again at lunch??

Today I’m super casual & rocking the high street.

Tshirt - H&M
Jeans - New Look
Cardigan - H&M
Trainers - Mint Velvet

Is so your nice trousers or a nice midi/maxi dress @happytobemrsg ?

I love the cream jumper from your Zara haul. What is the sizing like? X

Cardigansalltheway · 08/09/2022 10:07

Loving all the new autumn purchases. @toucaninjapan that cardigan is fabulous and @happytobemrsg that's a great Zara haul, a good capsule wardrobe right there! @WestrayWife LOVE your last two outfits you look amazing.

Finally starting to get excited about autumn dressing and have my eye on a few things:

This cardigan from Superdry (can't decide on black or cream so may need both 🤭):
www.superdry.com/womens/jumpers/details/177721/grace-oversized-cable-cardigan-cream

Trainers, a couple of pairs, again can't decide between them and thinking both might be v nice:

And then finally some Levi's. @EllaPaella am I right in thinking you have some lovely pale blue Levi's? Are they 501s?

There's no way I can purchase all of these in one go and seriously don't know which to prioritise. Decisions, decisions!

Today is:
Sweatshirt: ASOS
Skirt: Mango

@happytobemrsg - I quite like short sleeve jumpers and tank tops. I do think they keep you warm. And I also have a backless jumper, which I just see as an inverted cardigan (if that makes sense).

I think I’m going to get a lot of wear out of this skirt - it goes with everything!

Jumper: Boden
Skirt: M&S
Trainers: Boden
