Thank you @Sooverthemill @Greyhairwarmheart , it's just typically regarded as vulgar/ low class to wear shorts if you are not in your 20s anymoreConfused

toucaninjapan · 06/09/2022 07:33

But I'm playing the foreigner card and wearing what I want anyway

Sooverthemill · 06/09/2022 08:01

@toucaninjapan yes my mum thought that too!

Gosh where are you @Sooverthemill to be still wearing shorts? Am jealous! And you do rock them. As do you @toucaninjapan . Summer really is my favourite wardrobe season. So easy. Layering up makes me feel like a bag lady, so I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone on here does it

happytobemrsg · 06/09/2022 08:07

Agree with all the shorts love! @toucaninjapan & @Sooverthemill look great!

Cardigansalltheway · 06/09/2022 08:22

@OublietteBravo your blouse collection really is second to none, love the one you were wearing yesterday.

Another office day today.

Blouse: M&S
Trousers & shoes: Zara

Yup, loving the shorts @Sooverthemill, @toucaninjapan - you are clearly not in Central Scotland, lol. I was going to wear my pale grey waistcoat and trousers from All Saints today, (with Pucci shoes and All Saints duster coat all ready to leave..) Then I realised I was being an idiot wearing pale grey when rain is forecast so it’s all black today. Combats from All Saints with a top from Vivienne Westwood and shoes from a US label I can’t remember!

@faffadoodledo @happytobemrsg @Purplecatshopaholic thank you! I'm in southwold in east anglia. It was 19 overnight and currently 20 predicted to go up to at least 23. Still shorts weather!

Sooverthemill · 06/09/2022 08:47

Currently looking like this. The grass is destroyed by no rain for months. Extremely pleasant to sit outside with my coffee after household chores

Gorgeous garden @Sooverthemill
I'd be spending al my time in shorts out there!

WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood · 06/09/2022 09:15

Joining the shorts love today! @toucaninjapan if you’re too old then so am I at the grand age of 32 (very almost 33!)

It’s wet here today and clear after a terrific thunderstorm last night, but still warm. So shorts with trainers today; when my running trainers have run their mileage they get downgraded for everyday/walking.

Top: Seraphine
Shorts: Next
To add: black Nike trainers

Well todays online haul was extremely disappointing. Out of 7 dresses, 2 jumpers & 1 pair of trousers I'm just keeping the jumpers. The dresses were shapeless & too long. Trousers too big as well. Thinking I might plan an in person shopping trip.

Sooverthemill · 06/09/2022 21:03

@happytobemrsg i have also had very disappointing purchases most of which have been returned ( one without even trying on). It's my fault though, I'm being super fussy

happytobemrsg · 06/09/2022 21:13

It’s frustrating isn’t it @Sooverthemill I like the style in Zara but their sizes are all over the place.

Sickoffamilydrama · 06/09/2022 21:55

DD is now on the mend took ages to get to see someone called 111 on sun morning, have up then every calling back ( we updated them when she was crying in pain and had a temp of nearly 40c) eventually saw the nurse at the GP's on Monday at 4pm. As soon as she had two doses of antibiotics she was rapidly better.

Anyway drama over back to clothes

Yesterday
Dress Hush
Trainers Hoff

Today
Shirt Aldi/Lidl
Trousers Next
Shoes Ecco

OublietteBravo · 06/09/2022 22:46

I’m glad to hear your DD is feeling better @Sickoffamilydrama. I love how you wear colour - the outfit with the trousers is just amazing!

I’m also being unsuccessful with online purchases at the moment. I was tempted by the Hush sale, but I don’t think the dungarees do anything for me (especially when viewed from the front) and the neckline of the playsuit seems quite wide/low. So I think they’re both going back.

toucaninjapan · 06/09/2022 23:42

These dungarees look so fab on you @OublietteBravo ! I wouldn't send them back. GrinThey look extremely comfy!
@Sooverthemill I'm so jealous of your beautiful garden, @happytobemrsg love your outfit!

toucaninjapan · 06/09/2022 23:58

May I ask what do you think of this makeover? I came across a Japanese article addressing how to dress up to look slimmer, and these were the examples there. I don't get it, does the "After" ("OK") outfits make the lady on the photo appear slimmer? It feels to me like the stylist is just making her look shapeless?

I adore Japanese fashion for unmarried "around 30" (26-34 years old), it's so romantic and feminine, I love reading magazines dedicated to this fashion and I get lots of inspiration from there. It's so strange though that once you marry, give birth or pass some certain age you have to wear only white/beige/khaki/brown and preferably wear only clothes that hide your body shape like this lady on the photos

faffadoodledo · 07/09/2022 06:57

I don't get those makeovers @toucaninjapan
They are the sorts of things I was wearing when I was 2 stones heavier and trying to hide it (unsuccessfully!). I think fir the makeovers to work they'd also need to use someone who actually needed to look slimmer! The model
Is clearly slim!

Softpebbles · 07/09/2022 07:27

I wouldn’t let that person make me over @toucaninjapan and I am no style expert. Just seem to be baggier clothes?!

@Sooverthemill another one with garden envy.

@OublietteBravo I love the dungarees with the leg rolled up. Really suit you.

I have ordered winter boots and love them. Will try on properly later. Jeans still a blinking nightmare. Wet but still warm here.

toucaninjapan · 07/09/2022 07:49

@faffadoodledo the idea of "slim" is a bit different here (the other day I was told by my not-so-nice-but-oblivious-to-it colleague that's good that I'm walking with 11 kg (DD in sling + her stuff) on me every day in the afternoon heat as it will help me lose weight! I thought I'd die laughing which sent her off-guard).
I can't find a screenshot I took the other day on FB, basically it was a gym advertisement with a photo similar to this one. Made me laugh too!

faffadoodledo · 07/09/2022 07:55

I ordered some Lucy and Yak boilersuits which arrived yesterday. Honestly I must have a ridiculously long body.. they just weren't comfy! The looked fine if I stood still and thrust my hands in my pockets but they gave be a wedgie otherwise! I would love to look good in dungarees like @OublietteBravo but I know they wouldnt like me!
I am meanwhile on the search for some loafers for winter. I've tried the Clarks ones but they weren't quite right. Anyone else got any ideas?
