@Softpebbles how are you doing?
@Greyhairwarmheart lovely outfits as always
@Sickoffamilydrama it’s weird going back isn’t it? I went to a teeny tiny Greek village for a holiday and went back 20 years later and it was a mega rave venue! A shock

cooler today

@EllaPaella thanks I’ve ordered some from ASOS before your link to try - although quite swollen so not sure that was a good idea 🤦‍♀️

@Sickoffamilydrama your holiday wardrobe looks so well put together. Hope you are having a fabulous time.

@Greyhairwarmheart well done on the running - do you enjoy it? I miss exercise so much at the moment.

@Sooverthemill I’m doing ok. I’m 6 days post op and managing to shuffle about the house a bit. Keeping on top of my pain meds. Hardest bit is wanting to do stuff and not being able to. I’m dying to hoover properly, not for another 4/5 weeks though.
I’ve had a total hysterectomy BSO.

So loving all of your posts! Keeping me sane 😆

Sooverthemill · 30/08/2022 08:22

@Softpebbles my sister had a hysterectomy and it took her a long time to recover fully physically even though she was very fit beforehand. She was so fed up not being able to walk ( she has 9 dogs). Mentally as well she found it hard. Like you it was an utter necessity and since then she has been so much better. Take it easy, don't unpack any boxes and try to just relax. I hope the op sorts out your medical problems, it's a hard road isn't it? Xxx

OublietteBravo · 30/08/2022 12:10

@Sickoffamilydrama - I’m very impressed with your holiday wardrobe. Especially as - IIRC - you only took hand luggage.

Hot, humid and not remotely autumnal here. The very idea of boots seems alien!

T-shirt: Gap (ancient - it’s been coming on holiday since my teenagers were tiny)
Shorts: M&S
Sandals: Ecco

I’ve been lurking on this thread for ages but finally joining; had my 3rd child at Christmas and am ready to start making a bit more of an effort and wear gym clothes/scruffies slightly less. Hoping you ladies will help me stay inspired and accountable!

I’m actually wearing jeans today rather than leggings which feels like a good start, still bf-ing so every outfit needs to be feeding-friendly, so jeans with a vest and a loose top is my go-to! That combo also tends to be slightly forgiving on my still-there-tummy 🤣
I’ve been in maternity/nursing clothes for years so I don’t know what I like wearing now or what suits me, so I’m feeling a bit stuck in a rut at the moment.

I’m still in my summer sandals; my Converse died at the start of summer so I’m inevitably going to go straight from sandals to boots (on the look out for some new boots, my old ones are about 4 years old and have definitely seen better days!)

Any tips for easy styling or making it look like I’ve made an effort appreciated; 3 kids and the oldest just about to start school means my time is very limited so everything needs to be quick and easy!

Welcome @WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood

  • no tips from me except wear what you are comfortable in :-)

@bendmeoverbackwards the stripy M&S jumper is from earlier this year but it doesn't look like they do it any more which is a shame.

Today I've been all floaty:

Dress - Muthahood
Belt - cheapy from Amazon
Shoes - Boden

Thanks @Sooverthemill . @Softpebbles I do enjoy running. I usually run 5k twice a week with a friend. At the moment I have to do 2 short and two longer runs per week so there's a presssure to fit it all in. I've done two 10 mile runs which were quite boring but it's down to nine miles this week.
Yesterday top esprit, skirt peacocks. Cardigan fat face.

@Softpebbles wish you a speedy recovery! Flowers
@WestrayWife you look absolutely fantastic in that dress!
Welcome @WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood , what a cute outfit!

I’m still kind of guilty re my overspending on clothes over the weekend, so I’ve been googling today about conscious spending and came across an idea of “price per wear” or something along those lines. Some people say that an acceptable price per wear for more expensive items is achieved once they are worn at least 30 times. So this is like wearing the same item once a week for 7.5 months? Or 2.5 months if we stretch it over a 3-year period. Made me kind of evaluate how much wear I get from my summer and winter items.
Anyway, I’ve decided to set a low buy period (posting it here for accountability), my goal is to buy no more than 2 items until next January. Probably 1 item will be something cheap for nursery run and I’m leaving the door open for purchasing something else which I might like. Unfortunately to me I’ve already seen one jumper which colors look absolutely gorgeous & so wonderful for my true Spring color palette. It’s again from Sezane, don’t know how it looks as it wasn’t released just yet, just saw a glimpse of it from other items’ promotion photos. Ah, I’m gonna wait until it’s released, have a look of it, and then I’m unsubscribing from all the sales emails! Don’t see = don’t want.
Wearing my trusty Uniqlo dress today.

@toucaninjapan - I do try to think in terms of “price per wear”. Although @Sooverthemill is much more organised about it than I am. Over the last year I’ve started buying second hand much more - you can get the price per wear down to less than £1 really quite quickly.

It is supposed to rain today, but even without sun it is still warm.

Today
T-shirt: Warehouse
Shorts: M&S
Sandals: Next

Yesterday evening
Jumpsuit: Brora
Sandals: Ecco

Lovely @WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood - that blouse is beautiful. I loved Seraphine for maternity clothes when I was pregnant and breast feeding.

Happy Wednesday everyone. I am taking a few days holiday from work and doing very little - much needed! Just back from a walk with PurplecatDog, and now chilling. Welcome @WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood. I really must get back into running - you are inspiring me @Greyhairwarmheart. I used to run a lot but life got in the way, and I got out of the habit. Flats from Tommy Hilfiger with Anthropologie harem pants and a top from Sweaty Betty.

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
@OublietteBravo @toucaninjapan I try to buy second hand too, my problem is that I then get too easily sucked into the Vinted wormhole of “ooh that could look good on me…” and inevitably end up with a few things which don’t fit or aren’t what I’d hoped for in terms of colour/fabric etc. I need to get better at finding a style I like in person and then looking for that specific thing rather than idly browsing.

@Greyhairwarmheart @Purplecatshopaholic @EllaPaella I need to get back to running too, I was a really keen runner pre-covid and then life (and 2 pregnancies) has got in the way, I’m determined to get going once school starts! My plan is to get out twice a week to start with 🤞🏻

Love the harem pants @Purplecatshopaholic, perfect length on you and gorgeous colour! Lovely dress @toucaninjapan, I love dresses that length, it really suits you ❤️

OublietteBravo · 31/08/2022 14:49

@WhatsThisThingCalledMotherhood - I deliberately control my eBay spending. I try to only allow myself to spend the profits I’ve made by selling things. I’m (mostly) quiet good at sticking to this.

WestrayWife · 31/08/2022 19:03

Excuse the work toilet selfie....
Today for me it's been:

Dress - Oliver Bonas
Footless Tights - H&M
Sandals - Camper
Belt - Amazon

Another gorgeous outfit @WestrayWife !

Went to the office today & have felt infinitely better about my recent Sezane haul after having a good look at the ladies around.
YSL silk shirts, Prada bags, Cartier/Tiffany jewelry type of crowd everywhere you look, ah, WFH is a bless as I almost forgot about this pressure to look a certain way! I forgot that I was one of the less-presentable ones here.Grin
I’m never in a thousand years gonna live up to these high standards (how’s everyone affording to dress head to toe in luxury brands anyway? Are we really working for the same company with the same salary or am I missing something here lol), but at least I feel now guilt-free about my recent splurge! Yay! But I’ll be doing low buy period anyway, and electricity bills in the upcoming months will probably help a lot with keeping my motivation in check. Envy
Blouse - Sezane sale
Skirt - Berthie

@toucaninjapan I do the cost per wear thing and many of the items you see me wearing on repeat are well over their 30 times or fast approaching. I use Stylebook to record my wears and if after a season I've hardly worn anything I have a good think and it it looks like it won't get worn, I sell it. For a summer item I'm happy with 10 in a season as summer is short and I reckon stuff gets used next year . So I'm about to take a hard look at last years autumn winter purchases and move some on. A pair of shoes I had massive anxiety about buying at £195 are now down to £4.23 a wear after 46 wears last winter. Other cheaper buys I thought would be great are still up at £88 per wear after only wearing once! It's a good way to see what works for you. I only buy items I think I will wear on repeat ( except 'special' things which I am more lenient with)
