Summer trousers

I'm looking for some really light weight/cool summer trousers, possibly in both black and white or maybe grey and ideally cropped. Boden Richmonds are too work-ish. M&S hasn't got anything anywhere near okay - I tried their chinos on and they felt like they were made of plastic, even though described as cotton rich. Need to be cotton not linen and definitely not viscose or polyester. I want them for when it's too hot for jeans.

Please help!

Can you sew? Trousers are really easy to make, 4 pieces and a zip for basic ones. If you want a waistband and pockets double it!

You should definitely consider getting some made - once the dressmaker alters the pattern to fit you perfectly, she can use it again and again. You only need about 1.5 metres to make a pair of trousers, you can have cotton for day, silk for night and wool for the evening.

That should have said wool for Winter, it was late!

Lands End always have quite a few choices of summer trousers, they are online only though unless you are near their outlet

I bought the wide leg cotton twill black trousers and a pair of light blue striped sailor trousers. Bought in haste as I was walking through Waterloo station and in desperate need of summer trousers. Very pleased with them.
