Summer trousers

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/07/2022 18:10

I'm looking for some really light weight/cool summer trousers, possibly in both black and white or maybe grey and ideally cropped. Boden Richmonds are too work-ish. M&S hasn't got anything anywhere near okay - I tried their chinos on and they felt like they were made of plastic, even though described as cotton rich. Need to be cotton not linen and definitely not viscose or polyester. I want them for when it's too hot for jeans.

Please help!

Poetry is a good idea. I'm actually wearing an old pair of Poetry trousers today, lovely cool navy silk.

MunsteadWood · 11/07/2022 09:12

They're great for loose, stylish flowing shapes in natural fabrics.

@Sheffieldissunny never heard of pockets for women before! Thank you for making me aware it existed! 😊

No probs. I love pockets!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2022 15:42

Too many pairs are reminding me of fishermen, I’m afraid. Can’t buy from the White Company (or Boden) anymore because they give funds to the Tories.

It looks like I must remain trouserless. Henceforth, please call me Donald.

Gap are usually cotton

Margaret Howell also does lovely trousers but v expensive!

HelenHywater · 11/07/2022 16:25

has anyone suggested Cos?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2022 16:59

Thanks for these.

I looked in Cos yesterday but nothing was thin enough and most of their stuff is three feet too long for me.

Some lovely styling on the Margaret H site, especially of their wintery trousers, but nothing just right and far too £££ anyway.

Definitely cba with trying ordering online from Gap. Their stuff was shockingly bad quality imo, before they disappeared from the high street. A shame, as years ago I had some nice things from there.

Not at all what I'm looking for but just found these and ooh I like - they'd probably look terrible on me though.

Also just found these from Whistles but only in a size 6, annoyingly.

Look up tencel joggers on the Matalan website. I bought a pair on a whim and have been pleasantly surprised. I roll them up once or twice . They are pull on though which suits me as fed up of getting holes in tops .

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2022 17:13

Quite like these from White Stuff but the colours are all wrong.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2022 17:16

Thanks, Hetty. I don't want joggers though, or Tencel.

Ok last attempt. Have you tried superdry? www.superdry.com/womens/trousers/details/206271/cupro-trousers-black

Karmatime · 11/07/2022 17:24

I didn’t know about the White Co being Tory donors. That will save me money in the future.

OxanaVorontsova · 11/07/2022 17:24

Have you tried H&M?

hetty74 · 11/07/2022 17:28

No probs but meant to add the description (nor the picture) does them justice really …

hugoagogo · 11/07/2022 17:45

Maybe you should go down market? Maybe literally the market? Or somewhere like the factory shop or Yorkshire trading?

Spottyegg · 11/07/2022 18:21

I just received these from Cos they are thin cotton (but dark blue). I have These from Arket in beige and they are quite light cotton - they come in white, and have an adjustable waist (they look a bit better than on the model!) or maybe these?

Because I'd be sure to find natural fibres and a flattering fit there, right?

Those white Arket ones are styled like something out of A Clockwork Orange!!!! I'll have a look in Arket again soon, but not hopeful as their trousers rarely work on me.

Cos site is down currently, but I didn't find anything right when I looked before.

These look nice

Well, it sounded to me like you are after a traditional style and thin cotton, so you never know?

I quoted wrong post!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/07/2022 17:03

Haven't tried either of these apart from Selected Femme linen trousers (great, so comfy) but lots of boutiques do them if you need to try on in real life:

Selected Femme

www.selected.com/en-gb/femme/trousers/formal/

www.selected.com/en-gb/femme/trousers/chinos/

Anthropologie

www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/maeve-colette-wide-leg-trousers?category=trousers-wide-leg&color=001&type=REGULAR&quantity=1

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/07/2022 17:06

Ignore me re Selected Femme - appears to be non natural fibres.

The Anthropologie are a cotton/linen mix.
