@gluenotsoup that photo of Kate in the blue coat truly shows off her hair in all of its swishy glory.

More of the Spanish RF on holiday. More espadrilles here, though Leti's are the flat slip-on style. They all look great and very summery. I especially like the photo of the two princesses arm in arm.

It's interesting how much access they allow to their holiday - loads of photos. Very different protocols to the British RF, where we only ever get maybe a couple of posed photos outdoors at Balmoral I think?

They have photos taken every year when they decamp to Mallorca - I know that it's seen as a good way to promote tourism.
I agree about the lovely summer vibe and like the espadrilles! Beats pictures of our royals in kilts. 🙄

Lovely photos of the SRF.
They all have great legs, including PF 😀
Which girl is the future Queen ?

MotherofPearl · 11/08/2022 08:55

The future Queen is Princess Leonor, wearing the pink dress. Her younger sister, the Infanta Sofia, is actually taller though.

Thank you @MotherofPearl

Yes I agree @Maireas. I suppose it's all quite staged but to me it seems striking to see the king and queen casually dressed and strolling through the streets of Palma de Mallorca with their daughters in amongst the holiday crowds of tourists and Spanish people, dining in local restaurants etc. They certainly don't spend their summers holed up in private castles! Smile

You're right, @MotherofPearl, they have a nice stroll through Palma every year, looking at the shops. The security looks quite subtle and low key.

I think it's quite clever royal PR - look, we are accessible, normal and approachable (albeit with as you say, low-key security.)

The Euro royals seem to do down to earth and approachable a lot better than the Brits.

I think when the Infantas were younger they didn’t do the public dinners - they’d do a photo call and then there’d also be a church attendance too, I think? Now they are both teenagers obviously they are all more comfortable with being out in public. I agree the informal nature of them looks good.

MotherofPearl · 11/08/2022 13:22

Yes @Serenster I did wonder if age is a factor. It's understandable to want to keep younger children out of the spotlight but as they get older it probably gets a bit easier to navigate.

I wonder if the espadrille thing is their version of Lady Louise borrowing things from Sophie's wardrobe. Having Leti as your mother is bound to make an impression; I can see why they'd want to wear the cool things she wears. Plus I think it's normal to do twin looks with your sister at that age. I have photos of me and my sister in matching stuff well beyond when our parents would have dressed us.

Bit of a slow week for royal style but those of you into historical royal fashion icons might be interested in the upcoming Netflix series on Sisi, Empress Elisabeth of Austria, who was kind of like the Diana of her day.

What a fascinating story her life was.

Ooh, I'll definitely be watching that!

I don't know if anyone else has noticed the 'Royal Guide to...' series that's been running on TV recently - a lot of them are really silly, but the style one caught my eye and has been uploaded to YouTube! In case anyone's interested:

Thanks for both these links! That series on Sisi looks interesting, and I hadn't seen that royal clothes programme 👍

Thanks for the links. I'll look forward to the Netflix series on Sisi.

Delphine somehow pulls off that outfit, including the shoes, though I think the pink hearts detract from them. Those green R&B platforms are quite something! Oh to have somewhere to wear them!

I'm already looking forward to the end of Espadrille Season (fan though I am) and a bit of glitz and glamour for us in the autumn. We have had a bit of a fallow period.

@MotherofPearl I think seeing Leti and daughters have made me change my mind re espadrilles and I might get a pair when I'm in Spain next month.
