How often do you wear make up?

I enjoy wearing make up - but I hate having to take it off at night. So I now rarely wear any. I WFH so it's not like I get dressed up to go to the office. But I feel so much more put together when I have make up on. It doesn't have to be a full face - but some BB cream, some blusher, mascara and lipstick. Am I lazy?

If you do enjoy wearing make up, how often do you wear it? And what products do you put on? I know some people never do, and that's fine (but different from what I'm asking here).

OP posts:

Everyday - it's as much part of getting dressed as my shoes.
Factor 50 suncream, Smashbox green primer & eye shadow primer, eye shadow & eye liner, powder / foundation combo, mascara & eau de cologne. Takes me less than 5 mins after 40 years.
I don't hate how I look without it but I prefer how I look wearing it. I also dye my hair.

We sound as if we have the same make up routine. I started wearing make up as early as I could and have loved it ever since. As a youngster, I loved playing around with different looks and seeing my face as a blank canvas to have fun with.. As I’ve got older - I’m in my 60s - I can appreciate how it defines my features so they don’t blur. Very pale Matt eyeshadow with a deeper but subtle shade above the crease helps create an eyelid for older eyes, and curling eyelashes helps open them up.

I see on photos how the eye makeup helps define my eyes.

So to answer the OP’s question: I wear make up every day. I only put on face powder / foundation combo if I’m going out but the eye makeup - every day.

I don’t see putting make up on as a bother but as self-care. I don’t enjoy the faff of removing it at night but to be fair, it only takes minutes. I guess because taking it off isn’t as rewarding as putting it on.

I like Look Fabulous Forever make up range, aimed at older women and they have good tutorials too.

Interesting how some people can barely fathom the idea of not wearing make up, whereas many others are quite happy to go without. I must say I am also lazy so to spend ten or 15 minutes putting make up on, to stay at home (and join a few video calls however) and then having to take it all off before bed, is not my idea of fun. I do enjoy wearing it at the weekend if I go out. I have more time and make an effort with outfits, so putting make up on is part of getting ready. But during the week I tell myself I'm being kind to my skin by going barefaced!

It doesn’t take me 10 or 15 minutes though, but barely 5 and yields such good results 😁

CookPassBabtridge · 06/07/2022 15:49

Every day, it doesn't take me long.. I like dark defined eyes, coloured lips and an even complexion. It's just my look and I feel like me, don't care what anyone else does!

Songoftheseas · 06/07/2022 16:03

Everyday: light foundation, concealer, eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, mascara, bronzer/blusher and lipstick. It sounds like a lot but I do keep it quite natural looking with pink/nude shades so I don’t look caked.

I used to wear much less but at 42 - despite having good skin and being told I look a lot younger than my age -.I feel I need it to look well presented and feel more confident in myself.

I’m also overweight and having good hair and makeup makes me feel better about my overall image.

suzyscat · 06/07/2022 18:43

Less and less the more I need it. I just don't have the time and my skin has gone down hill so like to let it breathe.

MissMogwai · 06/07/2022 19:14

If I'm going into the office I wear a bit and If I'm going anywhere nice or an evening out then I wear a bit more. I like wearing it and I feel more put together.

However since Covid I don't wear any on non-office days, on teams calls or just nipping to the shop, for a walk etc. I used to feel self conscious about it and ugly but that's long gone.
I have a normal woman's face, it's fine as it is mostly

MissMogwai · 06/07/2022 19:15

By normal I mean ordinary, bog standard face before anyone comes after me.

PrinceHaz · 03/04/2023 17:58

Every day. I enjoy the routine.

lindyloo57 · 03/04/2023 19:47

Everyday,

Cincinnatus · 03/04/2023 20:10

Every day unless I am 100% sure I won’t be leaving the house. I use Chanel, Estée Lauder and Clarins.

WhatFreshHeckle · 03/04/2023 21:04

Every weekday at least during term time. Not so much at weekends or in school holidays

betterlucknexttimefingerscrossed · 04/04/2023 07:19

Metabigot · 06/07/2022 06:55

Most days.
Enjoy the art of making my face up.

Usually use tinted Serum, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lippy.

I have quite a collection of products ... too many!

Would you mind saying what tinted serum you use please?

Squirrelsnut · 04/04/2023 07:28

I'm a teacher: in term time everyday. During holidays, probably 60% of days. I use light, natural products and just aim for 'somewhat defined and healthy'.

Metabigot · 04/04/2023 07:56

Daily

Purely because I enjoy it

I also trade it on ebay so have an endless stash of personal stuff I've got at discount so it doesn't cost much

Usually I go for tinted primer powder, eyeshadow, eye liner, blush and lippy

Mascara not every day as its a bugger to remove

That's just makeup I've not even mentioned Skincare or perfume

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 04/04/2023 07:59

When I go into the office so couple of times a week and if I go out, out at the weekend (eg not if walking dog etc). Just do BB cream, mascara, blush and lip balm unless on night out.

Slowsteps · 04/04/2023 08:10

Every day for me too. I have a very quick routine that takes about 3 mins. I am very pale so look featureless without it.

I use a bit of concealer round the eyes, some moisturiser mixed with a small bit of foundation, eyebrow pencil, mascara and then usually bright lipstick.

mdinbc · 04/04/2023 21:38

Every day for me as well. Tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and tinted balm. Easy peasy, and I feel a bit better for it. I've never worn blush or bronzer, it just looks silly on me.

Poepourri · 04/04/2023 22:41

Every day unless ill. Even when I don't leave the house. I look bad without it.
Don't put loads on though- eyeliner, mascara , brows, small amount of bb cream.

RampantIvy · 04/04/2023 22:48

I really couldn't be bothered about putting make up on if I stayed in. I tend to use a little fake tan in the summer months to add a bit of colour to my face.

I am lucky that I have dark eyes, dark eyelashes and dark eyebrows though.7

Coffeepot72 · 04/04/2023 23:24

Light make up every day, I look like I’ve been exhumed otherwise

Hellenabe · 09/04/2023 05:55

Only when I'm out out, so once a month these days! I just wear lipstick on my daily trips to school. I do look really nice with makeup but have become really lazy/not caring enough about myself.
