How often do you wear make up?

I enjoy wearing make up - but I hate having to take it off at night. So I now rarely wear any. I WFH so it's not like I get dressed up to go to the office. But I feel so much more put together when I have make up on. It doesn't have to be a full face - but some BB cream, some blusher, mascara and lipstick. Am I lazy?

If you do enjoy wearing make up, how often do you wear it? And what products do you put on? I know some people never do, and that's fine (but different from what I'm asking here).

Rarely use foundation etc. Maybe just on a night out. I might use an eyebrow pencil and mascara occasionally if I can be bothered.

LoveBugBride · 05/07/2022 22:17

Every day I wear brow gel and mascara.

The maybe half the time I will add some bronzer, concealer and blush to that.

Now and again I wear the full works. Usually if I have to meet new people or if I have gotten up early.

TabithaTittlemouse · 05/07/2022 22:17

Forgot another one! Dior lipstick but only when going out of the house (and not work)

Afterfire · 05/07/2022 22:19

Every day.

I spent 15 years as a Clinique consultant and then 5 years with Chanel, so to not wear any would just feel weird…

i wear foundation, powder, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipliner, gloss or lipstick, eyebrow pencil and whatever else I fancy… takes me about 15 mins to do it all and then I use wipes and face wash to remove it all at the end of the day.

I love make up.

Once a week when I go into the office - foundation, blusher and lipstick. I have had some horrible eye problems recently so don't wear eye make up, but I have dark eyes and long dark eyelashes so I can get away with it. Also my eyes are very wrinkly now, and eyeshadow just makes them look worse.

mdinbc · 05/07/2022 22:28

Every day for me as well. Fairly minimal though, with tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and tinted lip balm. Never was any good with blush, it makes look either feverish or clownish.

My favourite lip tint is Clinique Almost lipstick Black Honey. This reminds me to get another on vacation - it is not available in my small town.

StarCourt · 05/07/2022 22:29

Maybe once a week if that. Tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip balm

Coffeepot72 · 05/07/2022 22:42

Every day. I have a 5 minute routine that makes me look normal/groomed/healthy. Without this I look like I’ve been exhumed.

MrsDrDear · 05/07/2022 22:48

None unless a night out.

I'll slap a bit of tinted moisturiser on now and again if I remember.

1stWorldProblems · 05/07/2022 22:59

Everyday - it's as much part of getting dressed as my shoes.
Factor 50 suncream, Smashbox green primer & eye shadow primer, eye shadow & eye liner, powder / foundation combo, mascara & eau de cologne. Takes me less than 5 mins after 40 years.
I don't hate how I look without it but I prefer how I look wearing it. I also dye my hair.

I have some...

NRRK28 · 05/07/2022 23:02

i’m stay home mum. I wore make up everyday. I refuse to do school run not looking appropriate.

i only put

sph
foundation
blusher
bronzer
lip tint or lipstick
Eyeliner
mascara
eyebrow

sometimes i want to di extra then i put eyeshadow.

SunStruck · 06/07/2022 02:46

Never when I'm just at home that day (which happens often as I WFH 3 days a week), but when I go out (not for school runs but say to the shopping mall, meeting a friend etc) I do:

  • glow primer
  • tinted moisturizer or light foundation (foundation for work or going out in evening only)
  • highlighter
  • bronzer
  • eyebrows
  • eyeliner

I spend more money on skincare, good skin requires no or less makeup.

SunStruck · 06/07/2022 03:48

Also I agree with pp about makeup remover, I just bought a cheap one from H&M and it's brilliant, one swipe over my waterproof eyeliner and it's gone! No more panda eyes!

mnnewbie111 · 06/07/2022 04:38

Nights out, so once every two weeks maybe. And it's just a bit of highlighter, mascara, lip gloss and eyeshadow if Im feeling fancy haha. Dark skinned so never got onboard with foundation apart from my wedding day (I do know it's not about skin colour, it's just that's why I never tried it as didn't really understand when I was younger and so got used to bare skin). The thought of taking off makeup every night bores me too😂

StarlightLady · 06/07/2022 06:02

Daily! Quite minimal though.

Arnaquer · 06/07/2022 06:09

Never seen without mascara. Everyday I use a BB cream, concealer , bronzer and blush.
Not that difficult to remove at the end of the day - I use a reusable cotton pad and micellar water

Glitternails1 · 06/07/2022 06:14

@everythingssogrey I think you need to improve your skincare routine or use better foundation if it makes your skin “look dirty.” I only ever get spots (1 or 2 on my chin) if I’m on my period. I make sure I use a good makeup cleanser (usually cream texture or balm) to wash my face in the evening. Removes the makeup in a couple of minutes and makes my skin clean. @Caribou1 are you using water to remove your mascara?? I’m confused as to why it takes days for your mascara to come off. Just use an eye makeup remover and a couple of cotton pads.

DontbesuchanarseGlenda · 06/07/2022 06:19

I’m 46 and never wear any type of makeup. To be honest, I wouldn’t even know where to start and would probably look like a 3 year old playing with Mum’s makeup. I occasionally go wild and paint my nails though 😁

Salahwalawoowoo · 06/07/2022 06:22

I'm the same as you OP. WFH and generally CBA with wearing any. Like this morning I can have half an hour extra in bed on MN or put my face on! But I do look and feel better with it on. I also hate washing it off. My mascara takes an age to wash off. (If anyone wants a good waterproof mascara BTW L'Oréal telescopic is your friend)

If I'm doing anything outside my usual school run/work/supermarket routine then I like to wear it. So mainly weekends or if I'm seeing friends in the evening.

whiteroseredrose · 06/07/2022 06:29

A few times a year when I go out. And that means a bit of eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. No foundation or blusher.

I wore it daily from my first job until I became a SAHM in my 30s but then never back into it.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/07/2022 06:33

When I go out out. Sometimes for work. I used to always put it on for work but rarely bother these days. I don't own any foundation so it's mainly eye make up and a bit of lip gloss when I do wear it.

I don’t think it’s inappropriate to not wear make up on the school run? That’s odd.

diamondpony80 · 06/07/2022 06:52

Special occasions only. I work from home and I wouldn't wear it for the school run or a trip to the shops. I'm not the only one though. I don't know many people outside those in professional jobs that wear make up all the time.

Metabigot · 06/07/2022 06:55

Most days.
Enjoy the art of making my face up.

Usually use tinted Serum, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lippy.

I have quite a collection of products ... too many!
