How often do you wear make up?

I enjoy wearing make up - but I hate having to take it off at night. So I now rarely wear any. I WFH so it's not like I get dressed up to go to the office. But I feel so much more put together when I have make up on. It doesn't have to be a full face - but some BB cream, some blusher, mascara and lipstick. Am I lazy?

If you do enjoy wearing make up, how often do you wear it? And what products do you put on? I know some people never do, and that's fine (but different from what I'm asking here).

Foundation and mascara when I'm in the office which is only about once a month.

I push the boat out and add some eyeshadow too for a night out or special ocassion, which is also about once a month.

The rest of the time nothing at all.

PermanentTemporary · 06/07/2022 07:01

Maybe once a month I put some mascara on or wear some lipstick, usually for a date. I do own a foundation but tbh I think it looks terrible on most people in daylight. I use a moisturiser with a high SPF every day.

i’m stay home mum. I wore make up everyday. I refuse to do school run not looking appropriate.

i only put

sph
foundation
blusher
bronzer
lip tint or lipstick
Eyeliner
mascara
eyebrow

sometimes i want to di extra then i put eyeshadow.

Must depend on the school then. At our school none of the parents wear make up to do the school run. If I did, they would assume I was going out somewhere.

What makes it inappropriate to not have make up done for the school run though? Surely nobody cares what you look like? I literally get out of my car for 5 minutes, pick up DD, and go straight home. Seems like a bit of a waste of time doing my face beforehand.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 06/07/2022 07:05

Never now I’m retired and rarely go out 😄

MrsHarrison87 · 06/07/2022 07:39

I wear make up for the school run and had a patronising comment from another mum once, telling me she liked my lip colour but that she could never possibly have time to have a shower and have do make up cos she's soooo busy with the kids ( I've got 4 kids to get ready for school, it doesn't take me long to have a bath or shower and do my make up so if she wanted to make time she could) and that she hates the feel of it on her face. I don't specifically do my make up for the school run, but I wear make up daily so it makes sense to do it in the mornings before I go out.

Never

OldTinHat · 06/07/2022 07:54

The whole kit and caboodle every day - foundation, powder, blusher, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick. Its very boring and I often wonder why I bother because I don't even leave the house very often!

userxx · 06/07/2022 07:54

Hardly ever these days. I spend most of the time looking like shit.

MsMarvellous · 06/07/2022 09:13

Almost never.

LadyEloise1 · 06/07/2022 09:14

Every day.
I wear bronzer, eye pencil, lipstick and concealer. Mascara sometimes as I have very sensitive skin around my eyes and never know what's going to set it off - is it the mascara, the eye pencil, the eye makeup remover or the cotton wool ?
My eye lids can be swollen for a week then. Sad

ChicCroissant · 06/07/2022 09:42

Most days, especially at work (bright overhead lights that make you look exhumed!) a light foundation such as a BB cream or a powder foundation, blusher, eye liner and mascara, and some brow pencil. Now I've stopped wearing a mask I'm using lipstick or lip balm again as well.

AmberGer · 06/07/2022 09:46

Special occasions only.

LindaEllen · 06/07/2022 10:01

Only when going on a night out, or to a party or something.

I suffered with hideous skin in my teens and twenties, and I've only managed to sort it out in my early 30s - so I'm not covering it up, because for the first time in my life I don't need to!

xogossipgirlxo · 06/07/2022 11:22

I wear make up every day, even on the weekends and when I'm at home all day. I loooove make up. Bronzers, highlighters etc. I would suggest trying hot cloth cleanser. Never really liked taking make up off, but with creamy cleanser it's really pleasant experience. ATM I use Tropic one, but I bought cheaper alternative from Superdrug which I am going to try out soon.

I use foundation, concealer under eyes and on some spots if any, mascara, eyebrow pencil, setting powder, bronzer, blush and highlighter. When I'm not short on time, I use eyeshadow and eyeliner. Plus lipstick and lip gloss before I leave the house.

RampantIvy · 06/07/2022 12:44

I CBA to wear make up in the house. It's such a faff to remove it at the end of the day. I do use fake tan on my face to give it a bit of colour at this time of year, and have good skin, so I don't really need to wear foundation.

I don't know whether it is because I wear so little that my skin is good or luck though.

IRememberXanadu · 06/07/2022 13:41

Interesting how some people can barely fathom the idea of not wearing make up, whereas many others are quite happy to go without. I must say I am also lazy so to spend ten or 15 minutes putting make up on, to stay at home (and join a few video calls however) and then having to take it all off before bed, is not my idea of fun. I do enjoy wearing it at the weekend if I go out. I have more time and make an effort with outfits, so putting make up on is part of getting ready. But during the week I tell myself I'm being kind to my skin by going barefaced!

I wear it every day I less I'm ill,it's just part of getting dressed for me. I wear foundation, eyeliner, mascara, lip crayon and powder. Take it all off with a warm wash cloth and CeraVe sensitive wash.

pippistrelle · 06/07/2022 14:25

All the days.

Primer
Foundation/tinted moisturiser
Blusher
Powder
Eye shadow primer
Eye shadow
Eye liner (two types)
Mascara
Lip Colour
Instant wrinkle filler

And that is how I look natural...

There is something annoying about taking off make up, I agree, so I like a melting balm/oil type thing. Superfacialist (and a muslin cloth) is the best for me and the one I keep coming back to for quick, all in one make-up removal - it's usually to be found on offer somewhere too so is very good value.

@pippistrelle Instant wrinkle filler what do you use?? Tell me more! Would it work for eyes? I have one from Clarins but hardly ever reach for it, ocasionally use it but I wouldn't recommend tbh as I go from from thinking it looks cakey to thinking it does nothing...!

pippistrelle · 06/07/2022 15:02

I have some on rotation @Oceanus. Estee Lauder Perfectionist Pro Tri-polymer Blend (bit cakey so have to be very careful with application but I quite like it, and it does work - well, sort of.) A Boots No 7 one (a tiny bit of a blurring effect), a Filorga one (Time Filler, something like that - not that impressed) , and another one, my favourite, is Rodial Instant Filler, as it's not at all cakey and does significantly improve the smoothness. Of course, it might all be in my head...

pippistrelle · 06/07/2022 15:04

Oh, and I use it on crow's feet (not too deep, not too many) and a brow furrow. I really must frown A Lot...

Iluvfriends · 06/07/2022 15:17

I've never worn make up. Let a friend put it on me once and it came straight back off again, i hated the feel of it on my face.

Oceanus · 06/07/2022 15:27

@pippistrelle Thank you! I might try the Rodial one if I can get it! 😘

Deathraystare · 06/07/2022 15:36

I normally do my eyebrows even if not going out. If going out I may put a tinted moisturiser on and always lipstick (yes even under a mask!). Haven't used foundation for a while but plan to go through my 'stash' and keep what I really like. Haven't used blusher/bronzer for a while either and only use Heck of a Blot (powder) on my t zone.

If going out/work I do use liner, sometimes shadow, mascara and lipstick.

greenemeralds · 06/07/2022 15:41

Everyday! I have nice skin but terrible bags under my eyes so concealer is a must and by that time I may as well keep going. No idea how to get rid of them. Assume maybe more sleep but with young dc no chance of that happening!
