As in looks you've worn in recent years that now look wrong or frumpy? (no Mumsnet debate on the word frumpy please!)

Phone case that opens like book!

My teen says I’ll know when I’m an old lady as I’ll get one of these 😆

@speakout posters didn't mean you need to wear heels to keep your feet healthy - just flat shoes with some shaking inside such as you will find in most trainers or Birkenstocks. The issue is that completely flat shoes like ballet flats are not good for you, particularly when there is no band to hold them on.

Why are soft shoes so unhealthy?
A step away from socks or barefoot surely?
I really don't understand why the "shaping" is necessary. I live in bare feet - and pay a lot of attention to my foot health.

I feel like that poster was being a bit “dumb” on purpose to attempt to make a point, to be honest.

I used to wear ballet flats at school when it was “the shoe” to wear. The result? Aching sore feet after school every single day. It isn’t good for your feet to wear such a flat, thin soled shoe with absolutely no support for the arch of your foot or to help contain your foot within the shoe.

Heels obviously have their own issues.

There are lots of flat shoe options that are better than ballet flats. Brogues look great with anything ballet flats do, a lot of sandals are made very well now to be supportive as well as stylish, and trainers are obviously incredibly comfortable. Crocs are even an option!

So no, “female sapiens” haven’t evolved to a point where they need heels to ensure their body is healthy… 🙄

Ubiquitous- most over used word of the thread, actually bored of reading it now

I know. Why is it so annoying?

And I just used it.

You could say it's ubiquitous on this thread.

Suchasonganddance · 01/07/2022 18:46

Thank God ballet flats getting the thumbs down. They are hideous even on the nicest feet.

puddleduckmummy · 01/07/2022 18:47

i am not a fashionable person, I wear what I feel suits me and what I am comfortable in. I think should wear whatever they feel good in without fear of being called ‘dated’ or ‘unfashionable’.

Samara26 · 01/07/2022 18:49

Pierced belly buttons. Everyone I notice has the little scar now but no one puts them in anymore, including me.

TheWelshposter · 01/07/2022 18:50

In my city too. I still see a lot of the Instagram "influencers" wearing this. Ah I like this look, hope its not dated.

You really can’t compare a ballet pump to barefoot.

Firstly, when you’re wearing pumps you have to hold your foot a certain way to keep the shoe on as there is no upper support. As a result, you walk slightly differently which puts a strain on your foot. You also are squishing your toes into a small toe box.

Barefoot shoes/barefoot gives the toes ample room and supports the foot properly so you can walk
how nature intended. Walking with socks also doesn’t constrict the foot.

Ballet flats are absolutely awful for foot health.

Nothing, every style goes these days. Just wear what u like and know suits you, worst thing is to try to dress like a teenager amd just follow trends. Besides, who cares? Everyone is wrapped up their own lives and phones to notice. Can you tell me what anyone who've met in past week has wearing? X

Justbefair · 01/07/2022 18:58

needanotherholidayy · 30/06/2022 10:17

Does it really matter though? Just wear whatever you're comfortable in and what you like.

This!

BruceWaynettaSlob · 01/07/2022 18:58

anything that says "juicy" on it esp worn with Ugg boots

Y2k style is back. Dig out your juicy couture and Ed Hardy. 😂

IdreamofPilates · 01/07/2022 19:03

My latest acquisition and alternative to white Skechers is the new pink leather Penny Loafers from M&S. I'd wear them in bed if I could ...😀

It's not life or death no, but with respect some people enjoy fashion.

Ddot · 01/07/2022 19:03

My face 😳

Icantfindmykeys · 01/07/2022 19:03

Well I’ve stopped reading as a wear most of these items! It’s official I’m a frump 😂

Completelydonechick · 01/07/2022 19:04

I am going to take all these dated no-no’s and make it my fashion bible for next season !!!! I am going to call it ‘Mumsnet hated it, so it must be ok’ ! I think the entire look would work brilliantly-with a pair of knee high boots!!!

Magpiesalute · 01/07/2022 19:08

If Veja’s are dated, what should I be wearing?
Also, what do you wear on your feet to a wedding if heels aren’t allowed??

Samara26 · 01/07/2022 19:08

With everything going on in the world, keeping up with trends just doesn't seem that important anymore and I'm not sure people care as much as they used to?

Lots of people are home based now, so no need to keep up with trendy styles in the office and trainers have been the 'go-to' for at least 2 years now...

Yes, a colleague was wearing a beautiful navy and white polka dot long sleeved dress today- it was from Louise Kennedy, although not the current range. Same colleague also wore a new dress from Burberry

My trainee was wearing a very nice black and white chevron pattern dress yesterday and a bright red swirly skirt today. Someone earlier in the week had a beautiful Liberty print dress and someone today a very unusual and eye- catching green and black midi dress. I could go on- woman in café Nero queue with a particularly nice linen shift dress.

SisforSugar · 01/07/2022 19:15

True.
She isn't fashionaable.
I don't know anyone that wants to wear the same clothes as her.
However, the papers are always going on about what she wore, so there must be a group that like her style.
Who is this group? Age wise?

I like her style. She's very elegant and ladylike. Presumably everyone who shops at Hobbs or L K Bennet or Max Mara likes her style- most of it just more expensive versions of what they sell.

Although , I expect Hobbs and L K Bennet and Max Mara are probably "dated" too given they've basically been selling the same clothes since they came into existence.

Familylimbo · 01/07/2022 19:16

Is anyone else reading this and thinking that’s all I wear? y wardrobe consists of long comfy cardigans and black skinny Jeggings?

saddowizca · 01/07/2022 19:18

The Trinny and Suzannah 'dress over trousers' look - I need to see if I can find a photo...

ALongHardWinter · 01/07/2022 19:18

Stiletto heels. Especially white ones.
