As in looks you've worn in recent years that now look wrong or frumpy? (no Mumsnet debate on the word frumpy please!)

On the other hand they are very nice, I don't have any scalloped edge ballet flats and they are only £35.

That's true, it's the scalloped edging I liked with the Chloe shoes. M&S footwear is good at the moment, I got some Chanel flats dupes. Really nice.

Reported.
Racist, uneducated, uncultured or all 3!!

The keffiyeh is not worn by Palestinian terrorists!
It's worn by Palestinians and other parts of the Arab world.

I'm sure there were a fair few women who put their VW dress to the back of the wardrobe with a sigh once Kate Middleton started wearing hers.

It's a bit of a kiss of death sadly.

Five years ago VW dresses seemed so luxe bohemian and like nothing else around. Florence Welch put it best when she said they were like dresses for romantic witches (or words to that effect). KM wearing one makes them seem so establishment and staid and takes away all the edgy romance of them.

I don't have an original (wayyy out of my league) but I do have a lot of very similar ones, including the H&M collab ones. I don't feel ready to part with them just yet (they're surprisingly flattering for a booby curvy figure), but I fear their time is almost up.

TrixieMixie · 01/07/2022 18:17

I have reached peak midi floral tent, particularly if worn with trainers by someone over 35. Also I have gone off Cefinn when I saw Nadine Dorries in one of their frocks. She is a brand killer

An older woman where I live still dresses in original 1980s outfits. Oversized bomber jackets with studs and long flowy skirts with flat boots. Very Stevie Nicks. She stands out and looks great!

She sounds amazing!

One thing that never, ever dates is being true to your own style. I'm a bit of a goth (although I ditched the fishnet and scary eye make up in about 1995), and my clothes choices still have a gothic tinge. I'm not fashionable and never will be but I like to think being consistent (while letting a few trends in occasionally) works in my favour!

I have many cardigans , live in them in winter and some
nights on the summer as I work nights. Don’t care what anyone thinks , I am
keeping the cardis🤣🤣

BiFoldChampion · 01/07/2022 18:24

What jeans for a size 18 hourglass with a bit of a belly?

I have a great arse and skinny ankles and calves? Must admit I have parsnip legs so fat thighs don’t help the cause

Very flat shoes with no support are incredibly bad for your feet, even if they're healthy. Living in ballet flats about ten years ago gave me plantar fascitis and trust me, you don't want plantar fascitis.

I get that, it’s awful, I had it for a whole year once where I was literally hobbling every day, then it suddenly vanished and suddenly as it flared up. I never wear flats that are completely flat anymore as they are so so bad for your feet. My shoes always have to have a bit of padding, a bit of rise to them.

Samara26 · 01/07/2022 18:27

Wide waist hipster belts (been out for a while)
HUGE watch faces
leggings under skirts
tight top and tight bottoms worn together
asymmetrical hemlines
white trainers with everything

im not sure ballet pumps, cardis and skinny jeans are out? Always thought they were staple items?
And heels - do they ever really go out of fashion??

I know. Why is it so annoying?

And I just used it.

Raizin · 01/07/2022 18:28

Michael Kors bags.

speakout · 01/07/2022 18:29

What is dated- is judging other women by their clothes and appearances.

"I never wear flats that are completely flat anymore as they are so so bad for your feet."

I also struggle with that idea. You think female sapiens have evolved into a place where they need to wear heels to ensure their body is healthy?

BS

sunglassesonthetable · 01/07/2022 18:29

white trainers with everything

I think that's still going strong.

Moll2020 · 01/07/2022 18:30

Crikey - the list is exhaustive - suppose I’ll have to to work in my pyjamas unless they’re also a no no!!

Seen so many comments about cardis. I'm 38 and love mine. I've got two vintage navy ones with one mohair then I've got a pink one from RI that's pink with a bobble and embroided flowers. Wear the vintage ones on a night out and pink one with boyfriend jeans, white tee, fresh trainers and slouchy bag.

For me - bodycon (ew,) scarfs unless for warmth and too much flesh (tacky.)

@speakout posters didn't mean you need to wear heels to keep your feet healthy - just flat shoes with some shaking inside such as you will find in most trainers or Birkenstocks. The issue is that completely flat shoes like ballet flats are not good for you, particularly when there is no band to hold them on.

Samara26 · 01/07/2022 18:34

IVFPrayingForBioChild · 01/07/2022 18:01

True.
She isn't fashionaable.
I don't know anyone that wants to wear the same clothes as her.
However, the papers are always going on about what she wore, so there must be a group that like her style.
Who is this group? Age wise?

I think her style is more classic, but she does wear things that really suit her body type and look elegant. I wouldn’t say her fashion sense is on point from a trend perspective, although she does adopt trends such as wearing different shades of the same colour group) but she always looks on point in my opinion. Pure elegance.

I think as costs go through the roof, many more of us will be recycling older trends and style will become more of a generic thing, which is how it should be.

Heels look so dated now.

also cardigans, but did they ever look good?

Fabric scarves as an accessory. Just frumpy.

FuglyBitch · 01/07/2022 18:41

Wouldn’t know. I just wear what I like and feel comfortable in
